Very much enjoyed our stay here at the Intercontinental. The service is impeccable, the hotel perfectly located near the Opera and Galeries Lafayette. The bed and bedding deserves a special mention given it was ultra comfortable! The only tiny bit of critique would be that the detailing of cleaning wasn't up to my experience of the standard of a 5 star hotel. The desk was dusty in places that it was obviously not cleaned for at least a week. It's a minor detail - still I would expect more in a junior suite of such a hotel. Other than that, we were very pleased and would definitely stay there again. Collapse

I can never imagine paris without le grand hotel. Staying at one of the intercontinental hotels chain was an advice I took from a frequent traveler with a big family. His advice was a valuable one because with four kids at breakfast no hotel can meet their needs except the intercontinental. Now that they're older they insist staying at le grand as a pre-requisite for a paris or any other country trip. The staff here is so warm and welcoming and they recognize you the minute you step out of the taxi, though they don't remember your name of course. The location of paris le grand is the best ever. All shops and major big malls of paris are a five to ten minutes walk. I traveled to paris to attended the friendly England versus france game at the stade de France which ended by a 3 to 2 win for France. We brought back the French flags with us from the stadium and we were greeted at the entrance as if we were the players. God save france and Britain. Collapse

My husband and I stayed at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand for two nights in mid-May, prior to taking the Eurostar to London. When we made the reservation months ago, we requested an upper floor. A week prior to leaving I called the hotel and repeated the request for an upper floor, and said we would be arriving at 10:00 a.m., and would like to request early check-in if possible. The man I spoke with said the hotel was completely booked and they probably would not be able to do this, but we could sit in the atrium and await the room, saying they would do their best. Or we could book the extra night to guarantee a room, which we didn't want to do... Upon arriving and checking in, we were treated like royalty by the front desk, and told the room was ready. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone (I feel terrible that I can't remember his name; it started with an M, and I believe he was the front desk supervisor) came over and introduced himself, having remembered we spoke on the phone, and said they had a beautiful room ready on the 5th floor for us. We were extremely grateful, after an 8 hour flight. When we walked in the door of the room we were very pleased with the size and the accoutrements of the room, and the bathroom was beautiful with all the nice amenities. But we were absolutely speechless when we saw the French doors, and opened them to a balcony with - wait for it - the Eiffel Tower shining off to the right. It was absolutely gorgeous. The hotel staff also accommodated us with our late request for dinner reservations at the beautiful restaurant the first night. And we spent much time over the next two days enjoying a glass or two of champagne (me) or an espresso (husband) in the beautiful atrium... We always managed to miss breakfast by a hair but were fully accommodated in the atrium with coffee, fruit and croissants. Our only regret was that we didn't book this hotel for the three last nights in Paris after the trip to London. We are still wistfully recalling the beauty and graciousness of the hotel when we talk about where our next travels will take us. And, oh yes, the location is great too. :) Collapse

Having stayed at this same hotel chain in Cozumel and Athens, Greece. I stayed at Le Grande in Paris the first time in 2005, for 14 days and it was wonderful. All stays were as a Priority Club member. At the time of my second booking here, I did not know that the ownership had changed. During my last stay here I arrived early in the morning. Mohammed at the desk, however was not welcoming, I was an American woman, traveling alone. As the stay continued I noticed that I was not being given my free night and was told that the money would be refunded through my hotel bill with extra services that I would use at the hotel. $500.00 to $600.00 dollars?????/ I don't think so! I also noticed charges on the bill that were not even mine. When I would call down to the desk they would read all sorts of charges that should not have been there. When I requested a written copy sent to my room, all the wrong charges would be erased. This continued into arguments back and forth with them giving me ridiculous reasons for this incorrect bill. I was never able to talk to the general manager who was "on vacation". I noticed a lack of the friendliness in Cafe de la Paix down stairs which I enjoyed the first time using my French with great fun. Now they were just frowning at my same level of French. I now noticed that the chain lock on my door was missing, so I propped a chair ip on the door at night. As my first stay, my booking was non refundable paid in advance, so I was stuck. When I returned home, I called the office in Salt Lake City and was refunded the over charges, but this was truly a scary situation. In retrospect, I thought that buying head scarf and wearing it inside the hotel would have made this more bearable until I checked out. Collapse
