An amazing and relaxing stay at Hotel Dieu. The location was wonderful and the staff couldn't do enough to be helpful. Even when I lost my bag - they found it for me. The room was calming and the décor and ambiance of the hotel was opulent but not overwhelming. We loved the city - the attractions and the weather - all wonderful. Collapse

I cannot give 5 points because of one very slow receptionist and the dust on the only shelf in the wardrobe

We arrived on the 6th of August at around 10 o'clock so still before the check in time. The receptionist said that our room wasn't yet ready, but he could offer different. As I booked the king size bed with the requirement of additional bed for my daughter I said that I could wait but I wanted it very clean as I had bad experience in Venice in San Cassiano Ca Favretto hotel. We waited till 3 pm as it was the hotel check in time. I had to wait another 10 minutes in the queue although both of the receptionists dealt just with one hotel guest. Finally the receptionist handed the key cards for me. We entered the room. Instead of king size bed which I ordered on expedia there were two big single beds fixed together. I was worried that that's all what we were going to get as I didn't see the additional bed for my daughter. I also checked the cleanliness of the shelf as I didn't want to put our clean clothes onto dirty shelf. My finger was dusted. I called to the kind of hotel helpline/concierge and she said she would come and sort everything out. It occurred that those two single beds fixed together were making for the king size bed and additional bed for my daughter would be delivered in the evening due to hotel's policy. She sent the maintance worker wth a bed for my daughter and sb to help. We thought the woman was just helping the maintance worker to bring the bed. She shouldn't ask me what to do as I already explained it to the concierge/mediator/helpdesk. I didn't know that the woman was a cleaner and when she asked me if I needed any help I said no. Again I had to call the concierge as my dirty shelf case hadn't been solved. Having to wait half an hour I wiped the shelf by myself not wanting to waist more time. When it came to leaving the tip I took the cleaner' s tip explaining my bf that I cleaned it. So he managed to leave around 3 Euro. The chairs in the breakfast area were full of bread crumbs even though we waited for sitting us. Certainly not 5 stars. They could give more toilet paper as sometimes they left half of a thin roll for 3 of us. They could make the foot path for the pedestrian guests as there are high stairs and on the top (next to entrance) is only the tarmac surface for cars. Other than that it was fine. The swimming pool was nice with the rain wall pretending the waterfall. The food was tasty and fresh, breakfast staff was nice but they should wipe the chairs, not only the tables. I recommend cappuccino, latte and coffee from the metal jugs. Lovely croissants, banana cake almost as good as mine, tasty orange cake, fresh salmon, good selection of cheeses and granola. The coffee and tea facilities are in the room. Worth spending 1500 pounds with the flights for full 6 nights with 6 breakfasts for 3 people. I recommend 2 restaurants for foodies: L'horloge and Les Trois Rois. I wouldn't highly recommend one restaurant, which is the tourist trap next to the harbour- Le Coin Provencal- I found the booger on the martini glass in this one. Collapse

Stayed for 3 nights with friends during Heatwave Lucifer. The check in was efficient and the staff were helpful. The executive room was a good size for the three of us with a fold down bed added. The bathroom was an excellent size and well laid out. The old port was a few minutes away. There was a good gym and indoor swimming pool. The clarins spa was nice - the facial I had was excellent but the day spa facilities weren't as amazing as they could have been. The terrace had the most beautiful view over Notre-Dame. Here you found the bar and restaurant. It was also where the breakfast buffet was in the morning. The bar had an excellent range of wine and cocktails with knowledgeable and friendly staff. However it was really expensive with soft drinks costing €8 compared to €3 elsewhere. Collapse

Room was clean and good. Check in and request for kid crib took ages and was completely misunderstood and disorganized. Hotel service in general was poor for 5 stars. Everything took long or wasn't arranged at all. The outside breakfast personnel were very good, no complaints. Gym was clean, but drink water was not refilled. The pool was fine as well, but to get there, you had to take 2 elevators, that was a bit of a strange concept. We had dinner at their restaurant once and the pasta for my daughter was so extremely salty, that even for adults it wasn't edible. I really wondered why that was served. Our food was tasteless, didn't expect that for such a hotel. Again, service wasn't very good. Dessert was impeccable though! The evening ambiance on the terrace was very nice! We absolutely enjoyed ourselves out there! Breakfast was small, but very decent. Last: the cleaning service passed by almost at the end of the day. Collapse
Very arrogant front desk

We were surprised at the level of arrogance at the front desk and not only on Day 1 or 2, all the time!!! As for facilities, the room is ok and cleaning services are as well. A pool is very small and is for Everyone and it is inside.

We stayed here in May for a ladies special birthday break. The hotel is positioned perfectly, right on the edge of the old quarter with lovely views from the terrace across the harbour to the Basilica. We had drinks on the terrace every night. The service was sometimes a little slow but in good weather, with those views, it wasn't a huge problem. We found the reception staff delightful-friendly and very helpful. The rooms were enormous with all the usual equipment one expects in a five star hotel. The renovation of the original building has been done very sympathetically. I thought it was excellent and would highly recommend it. Collapse
