Arrived late at night, very tired and worn out. Front Desk Representative caught on to my jet lag and checked me in efficiently and quickly. Room was well appointed and laid out functionally. Only complaint was a faint musky smell and what turned out (after a good rest) to be an underwhelming, interior view. But I did have a good room rate. The concierge was extremely helpful and provided me with an accurate, thoughtful recommendation (I had forgotten to pack several items) nearby--it was a Sunday, with many businesses being closed. 5 stars for her service! It's a gorgeous setting and very central location. Overall the staff was considerate and attentive. That makes a huge difference; superior! Collapse

We stayed at this property on our first visit to the lovely city of Marseille. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, capturing the European old world charm with modern amenities. However the service standards are so incredibly poor it makes one wonder if the people running the hotel are aware of a thing called social media and that they're not operating in a vacuum. Check in: This was our first stay at an intercontinental property in Europe. At check in, we enquired if it would be possible to receive a slightly larger room with a view since we were traveling with 3 huge bags for our month long Europe trip and this leg was a corporate booking ie not booked by us. After a 15 min wait while he is tinkering on his computer and checking with his buddy, the gentlemen at the counter handed us a rate card, magnanimous while stating we'd need only pay an additional $200 / night for a better room. Considering this was a first stay at their property, and we visited in low season when all the tourism in the city basically comes to a halt, I didn't expect the nickel and dime attitude. What was more appalling was that the check in personnel later decided to gossip about our check in request with our company's corporate booking organizer as we later got to know through a back channel. This glaring lack of professionalism from the men at the check in desk is literally the worst service experience I've had in France. Room: Our assigned room, while well appointed, overlooked a quad with other rooms hence offered little privacy if we chose to open the curtains. Also lacked natural light with only one window and slightly cramped interiors (a single lounge chair cramped near desk, no bath tub). Food: we stayed at this property for 10 whole days so i feel we experienced enough of their products to form an opinion. The only good thing about the breakfast buffet is the fresh squeeze orange juice machine. The buffet was small and exactly the same through our entire stay. I am on a restricted gluten free diet, and a request to accommodate the same took 2 days to execute, and that too poorly, despite the chef coming and chatting with me about it. They provided pancakes and muffins that tasted like plastic and looked like they'd been bought in the frozen section of the supermarket. I ended up having the same breakfast of gluten free toast and egg for the entire stay. The service at the buffet was generally ok, by french standards, which in our experience isn't saying much. The breakfast reception and servers think that nobody notices them smiling through gritted teeth, but their pained approach to their job is evident and was noticed by many in our larger group. For me, the in room dining menu had no gluten free options for meals, and was highly over priced for what was there. Guest services in room: poor communication, but decent in general. They were happy to go back and forth when they got things wrong. Laundry: overpriced. 21 EUR to launder a business shirt is double the rate at most other (better) establishments. Spa: I'm sure the spa is nice but unfortunately didn't end up experiencing it again due to the rude welcome, this time by the lady at the spa reception (who honestly, is not suited for the service industry). One morning I enquired about the spa from the ladies at the main reception, and was told by them I could get a tour of the hammam and pool by requesting it with the personnel at the spa reception. I wanted to decide if I'd like to go hammam, so I thought the tour was a good idea. However, upon reaching the spa reception, the lady at the reception made me wait 10 mins while she finished a phone conversation, no apology, disinterestedly pushed a spa menu at me and tells me I would need to book time and get into spa attire to even see the hamaam (contrary to the information at the reception). This seemed like a lot of work to just see the spa and moreover her disdainful attitude ensure I did not patronize the spa during the visit. The personnel at the main reception later apologized for the misinformation and that was good of them, but the uppity smirking mannerisms of the spa receptionist really left a poor impression on me. One highlight during our trip was the help offered by the reception concierge. While not always on the ball (they missed canceling a large reservation we amended at a restaurant leading to an awkward conversation we had to have when a smaller party eventually went there), we were comforted by their knowledge and helpfulness on our many questions about the city. We were glad to have their guidance as we planned our days in Marseille. To sum up, this is a beautiful property but the poor service really ruined the experience for us. We stay upwards of 70 nights a year in hotels, so we're not new to the world of international travel. The hotel's utter disinterest in serving was evident at nearly every touchpoint. I wish I had better things to say as I was really looking forward to this stay. Collapse

Stunning location and hotel that is super modern and beautiful. Great location with staff that speak English and that are helpful and friendly. The gym needs a bit of an upgrade but that would be the only feedback. Loved it.

Our room was lovely, spacious and clean. Great views of the old port from this hotel and the terrace. It was a short walk to the old port and all the front of house and cleaning staff were lovely. The only let down was at breakfast. The staff were a bit slow and we had to request something as simple as toast for our daughter as there was no toaster in the buffet area. I also heard other families having this dilema Collapse
