I love giving amazing reviews that highlight the beauty of a hotel that is deserving of its brand name and praise. Sadly, this isn’t one of those. As a global citizen and constant traveler, I am usually fond of Intercontinental hotels. However, the Intercontinental Lisbon is a sad exception to the high quality brand. The biggest issue was the construction going on inside the hotel during our stay. Even though our travel agent called the hotel in person at the time of booking, the construction was not mentioned. We were informed about it a day after our arrival. Since this inconvenience impacted our ability to have a relaxing stay, we were compensated for this issue - with a ridiculous arrangement of 3 pieces of fruit and a bottle of water. This was not the only situation that revealed the financial troubles the hotel is facing. Cleaning staff did a poor job of making up our rooms. Our personal belongings were re-arranged according to their liking, dirty towels were sometimes not being replaced. When we made a request to leave the decorative pillows off the bed, this was being ignored until such time that the manager became involved several days into our stay. Another uncomfortable reality was the plain disinterest being displayed by reception staff. We did not feel welcome, or like valued guests. Also, while room service is usually an extremely pleasant aspect of any hotel stay, a simple order of coffee will take up to an hour to arrive to your room at the Intercontinetal Lisbon - so if you have made the unfortunate mistake of staying at this hotel at all, at least refrain from room service. Even placing the order is uncomfortable, as it seems like the members of staff taking your order hate their jobs and would rather not hear from you in the first place. The hotel’s patisserie and restaurant were amazing, both in terms of food and service. It’s so sad that the culinary and interpersonal beauty of the people who work there can’t make up for the overall inadequacy of the Intercontinental Lisbon. The one star I am giving this review is dedicated to them. Collapse

We stayed here for three nights as a family and couldn’t fault anything about it! We didn’t arrive until very late but were welcomed with a smile and a room upgrade, which helped with our tiredness at the time. The rooms are well decorated and comfortable, even the roller bed that our daughter had was of a good standard. Breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff very helpful and attentive - as they are throughout the hotel. Ideal location for most things and a depot for the sightseeing tours a 5 minutes walk away. We would definitely visit again. Collapse

Looking for a quality hotel in any city can be a bit of a minefield. I saw The InterContinental Lisbon as a safe option, as the luxury brand is one of my favourites as it always delivers on service. I was in the city for one night and was looking for a bit of comfort and class. The InterContinental Lisbon delivered this in droves. I chose an executive riverview room to make sure that I got to see the beauty of the Tagus River from my room. I love this river and always pay extra to see it when in the city. The room was equipped with all the modern travel accoutrements just to add that extra level of quality for my stay. It’s so nice when I can get home comforts when away. Room service is always excellent with the Intercontinental hotel chain and they were always there to help me should I need. The hotel is designed in a way that oozes class and charm at every turn. The sophistication that this hotel shows makes it perfect for visitors from across the world, whether they are in the city for business or leisure. The views from the nearby park down towards the river are pretty spectacular and are not to be missed. Collapse

Nice hotel with friendly service. Staff speaks good English. Located 30 minutes walk from the city center. Nice walk down to city but it is a small uphill all the way back to the hotel. Optinally there are electrical tuc-tucs to take back to hotel but thise charge quite lot for a very short drive. 4 persons cost us 20 euros for a 7 minute drive to hotel starting just outside the Hard Rock Cafe. The hotel rooms were average but some of them have a very nice view if room located on the street side. Breakfast serving is average. Collapse
