This hotel was at the end of our 3 weeks in China traveling with my wife and daughter. I felt like I had stepped into another time of old world elegance with all the modern conveniences. The breakfast ambassador was outstanding as was the food. The location was close to several MTR stations. The concierge gave us a great recommendation for a tailor (not one of ones handing out cards on the street). I loved the experience and am waiting for the suit to ship. I strongly recommend this hotel. PS there was some reconstruction going but mostly during times that we were not there and even when we were it was of no consequence at all. Collapse

From the moment we arrived till the time we left we were treated with kindness and efficiency by every member of staff. Our special thanks to Carman and her staff in the Club Intercontinental. We were allowed a late check out, a great help as our plane did not leave until midnight. We were allowed to spend our time in the club lounge with its wonderful view of the harbour. We were also helped by the concierge to make the most of our short stopover. His advice about not visiting Aberdeen and go to Stanley instead was absolutely correct. Our room was clean, comfortable and with the most wonderful shower. The hotel is convenient, within walking distance of Nathan Road and close to a MTR station. We would definitely stay at this wonderful hotel again, but next time we will upgrade to a harbour view room to take advantage of watching the delightful harbour scenes. Collapse
Good hotel, but reception needs work.

We arrived at the hotel early around 9.30 am last Friday after a long flight from Auckland, and after finishing the check in procedures, were informed that as the check in time was 1pm, a room was unavailable and to check around 12 noon, or 1 pm. This was fine, so we went for a walkabout in the adjoining areas and had breakfast at a pleasant place close by. Returning to the hotel at around noon, we were told that the room was being cleaned, and to come back later. When I asked how long this would take, the guy at the desk said " half hour- one hour, check again." No apology for the delay( perhaps he thought none was needed since check in time had not yet arrived) or saying he would inform us when the room was ready. Customer relations was not his strong point. By this time there was a large number of people waiting to check in ( or check out) and the queue was growing larger by the minute, but no increase in the number of people handling this. Must have been a busy day. At around 1.10 pm I decided to check with the guy again, but was put off by the large queue. I thought I would wait to see how long it would take to be told the room was ready. My wife, not willing to wait indefinitely, finally joined the queue some time later, and was told the room was ready. Why cannot the hotel lessen these queues by asking room service to inform reception or the concierge when the room is ready and then asking the concierge to inform the guest? It seems crazy to ask people who have already completed check in formalities to increase the queues on a busy afternoon by joining them once again just to find out if the room is ready or not? Once we reached the room on the 8th floor and started unpacking we heard a drilling and hammering coming from somewhere nearby. This was disturbing, to say the least. I called and complained, and were put through to the duty manager, whose name I think was Lianne. She informed us that renovations to some rooms on the lower floors were underway, offered to change the room, and promptly gave us another on the 12th floor with a harbour view, and NO noise! On walking into the new room we found a little doll bear, dressed in the hotel livery, with the legend "thank you for 'bearing' with us". A fantastic response from a person who really knows how to look after customers. A far cry from the uncaring attitude of the guy at reception. The hotel facilities are fantastic, the breakfast buffet incredible, the Tiffany whisky bar interesting and the staff and service very good. A very pleasant stay, which could have been exceptional had the check in matched the rest of the services provided. Collapse

A great place to stay if you are in HK for a few days - take the Harbour facing rooms - the view will take your breath away. The staff is prompt, the hotel is in excellent condition, with all amenities of a 5 star. The rooftop swimming pool and spa is pretty awesome too. The breakfast buffet selection is large and they even have an Indian counter for people who prefer home-style food - we stuck to the non Indian stuff which was amazing. Their room service is excellent and pretty reasonable. Served us a meal at 3 am and it was delicious. We didn't try any of their restaurants because there were a lot of local places around the corner, which were pretty good. Try Gordon Ramsey's London House and Wooloomooloo Steakhouse which are walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is very centrally located - lots of shopping around the hotel, very near Nathan road which is a shopping hub. Collapse

I travel regularly to Hong Kong through out the year and it is alway a pleasure to stay at the Grand Stanford. The staff always give you a warm welcome and are happy to help you in anyway possible. I would say this is the best hotel I have stayed in when it comes to customer service. On my arrival I was informed that as I would be staying 5 night the hotel would like to upgrade me to a room with a harbour view which was such a lovely surprise and so considerate of them. The rooms are always clean and extremely comfortable, the hotel also has a few good restaurants, a great lobby and the breakfast has many wonderful options. The hotels location is fantastic for local restaurants and getting the MTR to china if you need to travel there for business. I return to the Grant Stanford Monday 24th July and I am sure my stay will be as pleasant as always. :) Collapse
