The hotel is located next to the zoo of Berlin, very close to Tiergarten park and only short walk away from Kurfürstendam shopping street. The immediate surroundings of the hotel are peaceful, but it also means that there are not so many restaurants just across the street... The hotel itself was somehow stuck in another era. The lobby was huge, but mostly empty. It reminded me of some colossal soviet hotels back in the USSR. At the the ground floor there are many huge, empty rooms (probably waiting for some big conference to fill them up). The staff at the reception wasn't especially hearty, either... We had asked for a baby cot in our room, and I asked if they had brought it in while we were checking in, just to make sure. They said the baby cot is in the room. But when we entered the room, it wasn't there - some twenty minutes extra waiting before we got our baby to sleep (it was very late). The room itself was big and clean, but a bit worn. Television was great, as well as the wifi connection. Layout of the room was a bit weird, though. The walk-in wardrobe was accessible only through bathroom! So if you have to get your jacket, you have to check there's nobody naked inside (might be problematic, if you are just colleagues, for example). In the toilet there was a phone attached to the wall - it may have been luxury in the 80's, but now it was just funny. The view from the window was really dull - they could install some art on the roof of the lobby building to make it little better. And like too many chain hotels, this one too had dull, almost identical corridors. Once the elevator doors opened too soon and we entered a wrong floor, only to realize it not before we had tried to open a (wrong) room door a couple of times... You needed a key card to operate elevators. However, in our wing one of the elevators probably had a broken key card reader, since you was able to ride it without a key card... But something great, too. Breakfast was just excellent! Waiters at the breakfast room were really attentive and helpful, too. They have even a separate "kinderbuffet", but apparently only on weekends. And even though I have mostly complained about some minor things, this was a good hotel and offered good value for money. Perhaps I just expected a bit more... Collapse

My first stay here over the New Year period and was very impressed. Great friendly service, smooth efficient check in and all minor issues dealt with professionally. Very good location near Berlin Zoo, shopping areas and transport. The bus stop outside was very convenient and takes you all over the city - I didn't need to use other transport at all! Great service from all the staff, Melanie and Flora from the Club Lounge were stand outs and ensured my stay was perfect. I would happily return if I ever need to be in Berlin again! Collapse

We spent one night in this amazing hotel and it was great. We decided to have one night out for ourselves and picked the InterContinental because of its great reviews. I guarantee, everything I read about it was true. We got in: the hall is huge and the reception's staff very polite. Since we told him we were there just for one night to enjoy some 'alone' time, they upgraded us to a better room in an higher floor. I already liked the hotel more :) We got to our floor (12) and the room was impressive: very big, extremely comfortable bed, nice sofa and desk, huge tv (also a coffee machine). The bathroom is very big with a nice closet area. Shower and bathtub, everything very clean and organized. I must say the shower was amazing!!!!! Since we were too tired to have dinner outside, we went downstair to the Marlene restaurant and was a good choice. In the morning we enjoyed their impressive breakfast with a huge selection of yogurts, cheeses, breads, spreads, cereals and mueslis, omelette, waffles, pancakes etc. Here too, the staff was very nice. I highly recommend this hotel to whoever wants to have an amazing experience in Berlin. Collapse

This is my second visit to this hotel and I received great service. This hotel is in a great location you can walk to Berlin Zoo, KaDaWe store and the local shopping centre. Taxis from airport cost approx. 22 euros, and the 200-bus stop is located outside the hotel and is easy to use, and takes you in walking distance of the main sites and takes you directly to Alexander Platz and Potsdamer Platz. A day ticket costs 7 euros and allows you to travel on several buses, trams etc., these modes of transport are very frequent. The hotel has a buffet breakfast and provides so much variety, and will provide enough courses for all types of diet and preferences. 5 juices, champagne, over 10 types of teas, a large variety of breads, pastries, cereal, fruits, meats, fish and cheeses. In addition, they have full cooked breakfast items and freshly cooked omelettes, fried and poached eggs, with lovely pancakes and waffles. I emailed prior to my visit, and they easily catered for my daughter’s dairy allergy by providing some dairy free spreads to supplement the other readily available items. A visit to Marlene’s Bar is a must, to sample one of the lovely cocktails, and listen to the pianist. The provided toiletries have a lovely verbena fragrance, and cotton and thread is available, the bathroom has a good magnification mirror and a reasonable hairdryer. A very clean room, with a large mirror and a variety of teas and a bottle of complimentary water, along with a TV that has English and sports channels. The beds are comfortable and lovely soft pillows. A large swimming pool that you can swim lengths in with jacuzzi and spa facilities. Welcoming and helpful staff, a great stay. Collapse
