We were considering 2 hotels for a short break away as a couple. We decided on Intercontinental due to the reviews on the All Inclusive package which we had never done before. On arrival, we were not 'wowed' by the usual 5* modern hotel that we expected. The hotel is a little dated. Our room was ok, good size but bathroom is in need of updating, especially the shower which took 10 minutes at least to get hot water from. However, the facilities in the hotel are outstanding. The hotel itself and some of the restaurants service were quite slow. Nethertheless, the choice of restaurants and food on the All Inclusive were fantastic. All restaurants were included and they were outstanding. The only one we were not impressed with was 'Selections' which is where breakfast is served. Slow service and food was just ok. The choice of the alcoholic beverages on the All Inclusive were more than we imagined. A varied selection of drinks, including Bellinis which we paid £30 each for at The Hakkasan restaurant! Wines, cocktails and all sorts included. The pools are beautiful, especially the one near the beach. Beach was lovely but there is construction work going on so the view was not that great! 2 gyms, Well equipped and spa was good. Overall, a great place to stay for a relaxing break with or without children. Collapse

We planned to stay and have a short vacation few months back and we choose to stay in Intercontinental Hotel, we reserved 1 room for 3 people. we checked in 18th of April, we arrived at 3:00pm, this is how the disaster starts. 3:00pm : Receptionist told us that there's no room available yet and they are still cleaning it. they asked us to wait for 20 minutes which is okay (but the timings of checking in is usually 2:00 pm). However after 30 minutes my friend make a follow about our room, they told us to wait again for 30 - 45 minutes more. (CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?!?!) so I got so upset and asked them, "how come that we are waiting for a available room when we reserved 1 room 3 weeks ago?!" they cannot even answer my question but they just apologise for inconvenience (OF COURSE what else they gonna say right?) so yeah, finally we got a room at 4:45PM. 1 and a more than half hour of waiting to relax, unwind, chill which is not so good at all. (THE ROOM IS SO SMALL) 19th April: everything is fine, I asked my sister to bring me food for snacks, she asked me to pick her son first, so I picked her son, bring to the hotel and let him enjoy the swimming pool while waiting for her mother. apparently while enjoying the water, one staff came to us and said that the child needs to pay because he is not listed as guest in the Hotel. I am aware that some hotels will just ignore that incident, but this staff didnt. His voice is too loud, all of the people are looking at us like we did commit a crime because of the tone of his voice, well i get it, if we are white people he cannot do that to us (total discrimination!) so yeah. His name is Mr Saji Thazhathethl (i dont know if he right his name correctly), he is a Supervisor in the Hotel. I understand if the child will pay, but to make a commotion in front of every guest in the hotel is unacceptable, its like we owe 100,000 Dhs to the hotel that we treated that way. And this is the saddest part, my Nephew is only 3 years old, when Mr Saji is shouting at us, my Nephew is in panic also eventhough he dont understand what are we talking about, but i know he feels that something is wrong because he keep on saying "sir wait sir, sir wait please" he is telling that to Mr Saji who is just ignoring him (how sad right? a 3 year old boy who is just having fun is like begging for something he dont even know what is) thats why i got really pissed and swear to God im gonna write a review for him. MR SAJI THAZHATHETHL is a worse Supervisor ever, I dont feel satisfied at all staying in that hotel because of him. He even told us i dont care if you stayed 365 days, there will be no special treatment to everyone here. (CAN YOU BELEIVE HOW RUDE HE IS?) i will never forget his name and the way we felt when we stay there. I would never Recommend this hotel to everyone i know rather i would tell them how horrible the service is. Al Raha Beach, Crowne Plaza, Park Rotana, Khalidiya Palace are the best hotel in Abu Dhabi with best staff ever. "Service is exceptionally friendly, and amenities are plentiful, ensuring a most pleasurable and memorable stay" - never felt that at all in INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL Thank you so much MR Supervisor, Saji Thazhathethl for ruining our 3 day vacation and my Uncle's Birthday! Still wish you good life. Collapse

My wife and I ended a 15 day cruise in Abu Dabi and stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel for 3 days. We found our stay there to be one of the best parts of the trip. We were so very fortunate to have Mr. Nasr Al Abi as our Guest Experience Manager (concierge). Nasr is a consummate professional with a warm personality who astutely guided us to the optimal use of our time. His recommendations to us for where and why to eat, things to do and places to go were always "spot on!" He was always helpful, forthcoming, patient and attentive. I truly felt that he was always looking out for our best interests and to give us the best impression of the Hotel, the city and it's people. Nasr is a class act, and has us looking forward to staying at the Intercontinental Hotel should our travels take us back there. Thank you so much Nasr. Collapse
