When you come across a hotel that stands on an environmentally sustainable platform and practises what it preaches in everything it does; you can be sure it’s guaranteed to capture my attention, which is exactly what the Inspira Santa Marta Hotel did. I knew I was somewhere very special when my taxi driver, broke into a huge smile, when I handed him the hotel address. “Such a lovely hotel” he said, as he unloaded my suitcase outside and wished me well during my time Lisbon. What struck me immediately, was the incredible use of space and functional zoning within the hotel. The lobby was truly a thing of beauty. Starting with a gorgeously decorated seating area as I entered the main entrance, the light flooded lobby, led me onto a restaurant, reception, a fully equipped business centre. Special mention must go to the very tempting sweet station in the business centre. If you like me, love all school sweets like coke bottles you will be in heaven, then additional seating at the other end of the lobby, a bar and chill zone. The clearly defined functional areas ensured fluidity and a customer-friendly introduction to the hotel. At the heart of the lobby zoning triumph, was a glorious wood slant framed staircase, showered by natural light, whose stairs led you up to the spa and the gym. At reception I was met with smiles, quiet efficiency, genuine interest in my stay, wifi use details (the free wifi was consistently excellent throughout my stay, taking away any worries about missing out on sending that daily Instagram shot!) and the offer of local information assistance, which I greatly appreciated. Using my room key to operate the lift, I quickly found my room on the second floor. Opening my room door I found everything I wanted and more. It was exciting to see that the thoughtful lobby layout and use of space, also extended through to my bedroom. I’m a big fan of themed rooms and dynamic interiors Inspira didn’t disappoint taking its interiors inspiration from Feng Shui elements – Water, Fire, Wood, Earth and Metal. My second floor room was Fire themed and that’s exactly what I got – the kind of customer experience ‘heat’, that made me want to stay at the Inspira indefinitely. On the right, as I entered the room, the wardrobe was discreetly hidden behind a sleek glass sliding door, a lovely interior twist that I felt worked well in the room. Along with wardrobe space, there was also a bathroom robe, slippers (just ready for your visit to the spa) and safe. Below this a well-stocked mini-bar/fridge. Next the bathroom, or as I like to call it one of my non-negotiables, that I expect to be perfect. The Inspira didn’t let me down. The toilet was separate – always a good thing, particularly when you’re on a romantic getaway :0) The sink vanity unit was my kind of size…super large, well-lit for easy make-up application and general preening if you’re a mirror freak. My hotel toiletries were lovely, particularly the body lotion which disappeared into my skin, leaving it super soft and smelling gorgeous. The shower was incredible – absolutely perfect water pressure, great water flow and tip top drainage – seems obvious, I know, but I’ve been subjected to quite a few badly constructed, poorly functioning showers over the years something which I consider there is really no excuse for. I’m the type of semi-noisy guest who loves some background noise when I’m having a bath or showering, so placing me in a room, where I can to listen to music or the TV, through the deliciously crisp, integrated ceiling speakers in the bathroom, was a stroke of genius as far as I was concerned. The tech gadgetry at Inspira didn’t stop there. On the wall mounted TV (which had the best selection of TV channels I’ve seen in all of my European trips so far this year), a personalised TV prompt with my name on it, making me smile as soon as I switched on the TV; which was only a small part of the integrated entertainment system in the room. The room lights was controlled by a smart panel, offering the guest selected ambient lighting – from full illumination to chill zone perfection for catching up on my reading. If you didn’t bring anything to read with you, while staying at the Inspira, don’t worry, courtesy of Inspira’s online media app which allows guests to access global newspapers and magazines in 45 languages. Using it I was able to catch up with my favourites and also discover a few new titles too. The shower and main bedroom/living area were separated by a glass wall, allowing light to run all the way through the room. The bed was so ridiculously comfortable and I had to force myself to leave it every day. Add to that easy access powerpoints & light switches on both sides of the bed and I was in heaven. As a frequent business traveller, I have specific essentials that I expect in my room, to enable me to be both focused and comfortable in my surroundings, while I work. Room hospitality is always a hands down winner for me and all you have to do is point me in the direction of a Nespresso machine and you’re guaranteed a smile or three ! Ensure I have a daily supply of coffee pods, a selection of teas, a bottle of fresh filtered water (carrying through on the sustainability ethos of the hotel – the bottle was recycled reflecting Inspira’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint) in my room daily and you’ve pretty much racked up multiple brownie points with me. I adored the lovely welcoming gesture of a plate of tasty treats awaiting me on my arrival, along with a refreshing ginger drink, which I need the recipe for pretty please :0) The multi-functional desk, was the height of practicality, placed directly, beside the Nespresso machine and conveniently appointed AV and USB powerpoints. Beside the desk, a super comfy chair and overhead freestanding lamp. THE SPA - AKA BLISS – If you’re a spa addict like me, prepare yourself to be blown away by the variety of massage, face, body treatments offered at the Inspira. I decided to treat myself to a deep tissue massage, which eased my tense muscles and left me feeling rejuvenated. The staff were top notch – informative, possessing excellent service skills and made every effort to make my visit a memorable one. THE RESTAURANT- Served a wonderful breakfast offering very tasty continental and cooked breakfast options, along with an array of breads, fruits, pastries and cereals. It represented excellent value for money at just 10 euros. Dinner at the restaurant was a must-have, due to an inspired, diverse, tasty menu of local and seasonal produce, including gluten free options. I loved their tuna tartare with gluten free bruschetta stick and cherry tomatoes and my fried banana with salted caramel and strawberry ice cream dessert was glorious. I also noticed one of the most original ways to share company ethics, via a chalkboard menu in the restaurant transformed to tell the collaborative story of Pump Aid and the Inspira. Under the terms of this ethical partnership, sales of Agua Inspira water are donated to Pump Aid, a charity that establishes sustainable, accessible supplies of clean water in global poor and rural communities. THE GYM Was exactly what you want in a hotel gym – a bright, well equipped fitness space that allowed me to keep up with my daily fitness routine. CONFERENCE FACILITIES Being the nosey diva that I am, I couldn’t help but check out the conference facilities offered at Inspira and they were very impressive. A fabulous meeting space area, that could be broken down into two separate rooms and a super cool screening room. To meet any post-conference delegate needs, look no further than the Inspira’s Urban Bar, who I can reliably confirm make a mean cocktail or maybe delegates could hit the Games Room for a game of pool or relax and network with colleagues/new friends. The best thing about writing reviews, is when you get to share a hotel or location you adored. I adore Lisbon, but I’m crazy in love with the Inspira Santa Marta Hotel and i’m already counting down the days to my next visit. Collapse

We loved every aspect of our stay here. The common areas of the hotel are gorgeous and beautifully decorated. We visited the bar two of our three night stay and enjoyed the creative and expansive cocktail menu. The bartender, Ricardo, was fun to chat with and made some of the best drinks we've ever had. We dined at the restaurant one evening and were impressed with the food and service. When making our reservation we decided to pay more to have breakfast included in our rate and we were so happy we did. It was a great spread and served in a lovely atmosphere. We were equally satisfied with our room. We booked the suite and especially enjoyed the big round bathtub. The room had nice amenities such as bath salts, slippers and robes. We would definitely stay here again! Collapse

We highly appreciated the warm welcome and excellent service of the hotel staff. We booked a deluxe room wich is larger than the standard room and has a separate toilet. The room furniture and decoration was OK but not really luxurious. Standard breakfast buffet of good quality. The dinner in the restaurant of the hotel was however a bit dIsappointing. The presentation of the dishes was very promising but the food was far too salty. The location is good. Close to the metro and on walking distance from the city center; quiet neighborhood with some good restaurants nearby. Overall, very good hotel for a correct price. Collapse
