We have a favorite hotel in the back corner of the French Quarter, and a second choice in the Warehouse/Arts District. Since our main goal this trip was to spend time at Newcomb Art Museum on the Tulane campus, we picked the Indigo primarily for its location. Our room was spacious and comfortable and overlooked St. Charles Avenue. The bathroom was very roomy. I especially liked our bed's starched sheets. We were high up enough that street noise was minimal. Our visit was the week after Mardi Gras, and the hotel wasn't as busy as it likely is at other times. The Indigo's front desk staff were friendly and efficient, and its valet parking was convenient, as cars are parked in a large lot directly behind the hotel. The valet staff could have been more professional and polished. A big plus is that the Hotel Ponchartrain and its fabulous rooftop bar, the Tin Roof, is only a block down the street. Collapse

We were in town for 4 nights. Our room was quiet which was great. This hotel is very basic - no fridge, no snacks or bottled water in the room. Wifi was good. The staff was very nice. The area was very pretty - a short cab ride to the French Quarter. The problem I had was the cleanliness. The carpet had a huge stain on it. The bedspread had minor stains and appeared dirty. The towels even had brown stains. If a towel (even after washing) appears to have poop stains - please do not give to hotel guests. Also, we noticed a wet washcloth that was left while we were packing to leave. It was filthy. It also took 2 days to get a box of tissues replaced. Overall, we liked the location as it was away from the hustle and bustle. We did not enjoy what appeared to be filth - as clean as things may be, anything stained should be replaced. Collapse

I was looking forward to staying at a Hotel Indigo, but this one was very disappointing. We arrived to New Orleans around noon, and though we knew we were early we popped by the front desk. The front desk agent took my phone number and said she'd call when the rooms were ready. We never got a call, so we just came back to the hotel after check-in time. Our stay wasn't off to a great start. The major problem I had was with valet parking. I have never seen a hotel fail so substantially at operating valet, especially considered that valet parking is required and there are no other options. When we first arrived no valet came out to greet us. I brought the keys in with us to the lobby, and there were two valets standing and chatting at the podium. They seemed upset I'd interrupted their conversation to try to give them my keys. The next day I was getting ready for dinner and I knew I'd need my car. Using the valet button on the phone, I called about 10 minutes before I was planning to leave to request my car; the phone rang twelve times before I gave up and hung up. I came down to the lobby a few minutes early, but there was no valet at the podium. After standing around a few minutes I walked outside, only to find the valet sitting down well away from the door playing on his cell phone. He was wearing a baggy hoodie over his uniform so I couldn't even tell if he was valet or not at first. He also seemed frustrated I'd interrupted his gameplay. Despite starting this process of getting my car at 6:50, I didn't actually get the car until 7:09 and I ended up being late to dinner and making a poor impression. When I returned from dinner there were no valets anywhere, so I gave my keys to the front desk agent. When I checked out I called down ten minutes early for the car; this time it got redirected to the front desk, and she told me she'd get it pulled around. I came down a few minutes later, and the car still wasn't there. After waiting about six minutes (or sixteen minutes after the original call), my car finally pulls up. The valet has been speaking on his cell phone while driving, and when he pulls to the door he doesn't get out of the car. We spent about a minute standing next to my car trying to figure out the etiquette protocol for interrupting his phone call so we could leave, but he finally got out on his own. If you refuse to offer any other parking options than valet parking, you need to ensure that you don't fail so spectacularly at it. Collapse
Great Hotel But Don't have a Billing Issue

If you have a billing discrepancy, get it resolved prior to departing. Did not get a $219.01 credit and am not getting it. Manager is rude and no help. Contacted the Intercontinental Group which handles their rewards program. I got the run around from them too and had to call about 5 or 6 times. They completely washed their hands of this deal. I was treated this way even though I explained to the Manager and the Intercontinental Group that the Indigo is our hotel of choice in NOLA and that we stay there often. Apparently, they don't value repeat business! I did finally get in touch with a Senior Account Specialist who had the same luck with the Manager. He kicked it up to the corporate offices and the actual owners of the hotel. No word from them either and no surprise either. There are plenty of choices in NOLA so I probably won't be staying at the Indigo again. Something I did complain about but probably should have was I requested 2 queens beds and a high floor. I got 1 king bed on the second floor. I let it go since it was Mardi Gras! Collapse

There was a minor issue with my card upon my check in but it got resolved rather quickly with a call to my bank + the help of the manager and a bit from myself to try to boost the process along. 2 thumbs way way up!
