My wife and I have just returned from a brilliant four day break in Berlin. We stayed in the Hotel Indigo, Alexanderplatz on the eastern side of the city (there is a sister hotel near the Kurfurstendam on the western side). The hotel was lovely and clean, the staff spoke very good English and went out of their way to be helpful. The buffet breakfast was superb with both hot food and continental style provided. Our room on the 7th floor (of 10) was warm and comfortable. The view was West towards the bustle of the city but was also very quiet. The room itself was compact but adequate for a short break. The hotel was ideally situated 10 minutes walk from the railway station, which had a direct express service to and from Berlin Schonefeld airport. A single one way ticket is only 3.30€. The Alexanderplatz Christmas Market, of which Berlin hosts many, was only 5 minutes walk from the hotel too. We found one good way to see the sights is to use the Yellow Circle City Tour bus which you can use as a hop-on, hop-off service. This has an English commentary and a handy map provided. Collapse

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is very well located with nice social areas. The bedrooms are a reasonable size, bed is super comfortable and very clean. So generally very good. Then there were some small things: reception was always understaffed, in my room the security bolt had obviously been forced and not repaired correctly, in another room there was an adjoining door which was not desired, another room was super noisy due to outside traffic etc, another room there was a lot of early morning hotel noise. Apparently there were no options to move room ? So all in all nice but each of us had a different perspective due to the location of each of the rooms. Collapse

The Indigo hotel is a very good place to stay in Berlin, particularly if it’s a first visit as it was for us. The central location means easy access to the ‘old Berlin’ in the Mitte district and is within walking district of museums and the Unter den Linen (albeit quite long walk to the latter). There are good transport links, with the stop for the airport bus three minutes’ walk away and the U bahn or S bahn at nearby Alexadriaplatz give easy access to parts of the city further away. The hotel itself is modern with small, but comfortable rooms and an excellent shower. There are tea and coffee making facilities and a mini-bar fridge. Breakfast, taken in a bright, well laid out dining room is first class. The staff and welcoming and helpful. The only, small peeve, is that the room was rather hot and if the window is open, the trams which run along the side of the hotel, are noisy and start at around 4.30 in the morning. If the window is closed, there is virtually no outside sound. Would certainly stay here on another trip to Berlin and would recommend it to friends. Collapse

Stayed here for a four night stay... Currently on night 3! Hotel is lovely... It has a nice vibe about it! It is in a quiet spot but within very easy access to transport links and shops! If you're in need of some drinks or snacks then turn right out of the hotel and you'll find a small corner shop just around the corner! The trams run by the hotel but they never keep us awake! We ate at the hotel on night 2 and the food and service was excellent! Breakfast is your typical hotel breakfast with cereal, toast, pastries, hot food, meat and cheese etc! The food is good but if you head down a little later... Around 9am... Then it is really quite chaotic! Earlier in the morning is nice and calm! I'm not sure if they have staff shortages or if it's just not hotel policy to have a designated member of staff to welcome you to the restaurant and give you a brief rundown of its running! I witnessed lots of perplexed guests... Including ourselves... walking around and trying to work it all out for ourselves! Nowhere to sit because tables still needed cleaning! No idea where to get coffee as there were no readily prepared flasks on the bar which we now know is where they live! Same for teapots! As we were leaving today we heard somebody ask for a Cappuccino. We had no idea there was a machine behind the bar offering such delights. It seems the staff serve you these drinks rather than the usual help yourself! Surely we should have been made aware of this on our first visit! I must add that this is no reflection on the TWO staff who work incredibly hard trying to provide this service but they simply cannot keep up with the demands of the guests! If two staff is commonplace then I think it needs reviewing at busy times as I'm afraid this reflects poorly upon the hotel! I'm pleased to say this is the only negative we've found so far and would not stop us from staying again! :-) Collapse

I've stayed just for 1 night, wished I could stay longer! Hotel is in the heart of Berlin, it's surrounded by nice restaurants, cafés, and shops. Room was fantastic - very modern, clean, brilliant layout & superb view of the city. Good Wi-Fi in the room. Reception staff was welcoming & helpful. Breakfast was very tasty, loads of choices, very well presented and plentiful. Comfy bed, with fresh crisp luxurious bedding. Nice fluffy towels & choice of good quality toiletries in the bathroom. Great value for money. I highly recommend this hotel, and would certainly stay here on my next trip to Berlin. Collapse
