The hotel's own website describes the rooms as 'cosy' which I think is a euphemism for 'in need of refurbishment'. While the long corridors promise 4-star comfort, the actual rooms are a big disappointment with tired décor, functional (just) bathrooms, and a sticky TV remote. We came here about 30 years ago and not a lot has changed. The pillows definitely felt 30 years old. One tip - check prices at the hotel's website first. I booked via a well-known booking site and then discovered that my 'genius' deal was almost twice as much as the hotel's own advertised rate. Shouldn't it be cheaper to book in advance? We went here for a quiet stay away from the city but they were doing maintenance work around the pool area so there wasn't much quiet. (Couldn't they do pool maintenance out of season?) The reception service was 'cool' and to top things off, I got home and discovered the hotel had charged me again for the booking that I'd already pre-paid. Nice view though! Collapse

We had 2 sea view balcony rooms and one disabled access room (for the walk-in/wheel-in shower. The sea view balcony rooms are spacious and clean and perfectly equipped and we worried the disabled access room wouldn't be as nice but it certainly was! The 1st floor one (room 120) has a sea view balcony too and was equally spacious and well equipped. The whole hotel is clean and well maintained and the staff are lovely and there's even a small gate to the road by the pool which makes for easier access to the beach. The hill is not too steep and not very long so we needn't have worried about our elderly relative being able to walk up (albeit slowly!). We didn't eat dinner at the hotel so can't comment on that but the breakfast was perfectly fine-plenty of choice and they'll do basic sandwiches for lunch if you ask. The best restaurant we ate in was La Clova-the one nearest the hotel & they do a mean pina colada! The pool sunbeds are great and there seemed to be enough but the same can't be said for the umbrellas. There are only 8 and it really IS NOT ENOUGH!! It was very hot when we were there with a good many older people and the situation became ridiculous when one selfish couple commandeered two for themselves-cue Umbrellagate! The hotel really needs to buy some more! So if you plan to spend the day at the pool and want an umbrella-grab it early! Another minor niggle was the door cards frequently not working, which is a bind when you have to go all the way back to reception to sort it out. And the longest check-in in the history of the world! Also the hotel parking at 9 euros a day is a bit much-especially as it's always empty (surprise surprise!) but there is a free car park up the hill and some on street parking if you can get in! But all in all it's a lovely place to stay-don't let the niggles put you off! Collapse

Room was ok liked the fact you could get BBC 1 channel on TV. Could do with more drawer space . View from balcony was excellent. Beach lovely just listening to the waves with no music in the background was so relaxing. Also lovely walks. Some entertainment in the evenings in hotel would have been nice. The downside of this hotel is the food choice and quality of food .... very unappetising!! Hot food was never hot only lukewarm if you were lucky!! Dinner was the worst we have ever experienced on a holiday. Collapse

Have been here several times before as we just love the location. Right on the beach - ideal for early morning walks if you wake up early. Even when it is windy there are parts which are sheltered. As for the hotel itself - the staff are still very pleasant and helpful. In early season there is no noise so ideal for a peaceful break. However a couple of things are worth noting. The food still lacks a bit of imagination - same ingredients for 'mix your own salad' starters. Gets boring after a couple of nights. And the deserts are really poor. The wine list could also have a few Emporda wines (do try out Viader Vins near the market place in St Feliu - small shop but really good choice of interesting wines). Also the deal we had for three people ( 2 rooms) promised upgrades to sea-view rooms but the single person was put at the back of the hotel even though the hotel was far from full. And finally although there is ample street parking in the off season parking in the hotel grounds is 9€ a day - a bit steep. Still like the hotel though and wouldn't hesitate to go back but would probably eat out rather than taking the night time buffet. Breakfast is good - lots of choice. Collapse

Spent a week here with Saga on a walking holiday and the hotel was perfect. I cannot understand the criticism of the food unless is simply that it is not exactly like at home! Breakfast was great, admittedly always the same but instead of the usual scrambled egg only there were fried eggs and freshly cooked bacon every day. Plus fruit, cereals, yogurt etc. Good coffee and tea too. The lunches and dinners did have some duplications but there was always something surprising and often special items cooked to order. The staff were friendly, efficient and ever helpful even accommodating my thirst for wine (for on this holiday) by leaving me the bottle. Rooms were fine , we had glorious sea view and the balcony was the most generous we have ever had. There was a slight problem in that the little side road meant the coach could not get right to the entrance but upon arrival and departure the staff were almost embarrassingly helpful in insisting on taking care of the porterage. Excellent! Collapse
