This hotel should not, in my opinion be 4 stars- if anything it should be 2. A friend and I stayed for a week and were truly shocked at the lack of any sort of customer service whatsoever as well as the lack is staff available to assist with basic requests and queries. Upon check in we were NOT informed that we had been placed in a room for disabled guests, with a small double bed and a shower room that leaked water into the bedroom, as opposed to the standard twin room that we had booked. We went downstairs to inform reception as the telephone in the room did not work. We were told there was nothing that could be done as there were only two staff members working and that the hotel was full. We were then told (in a very rude tone) that if we had simply 'pulled the red lever in the bathroom down that a curtain would have appeared to block any water from the shower going onto the floor'. We later put this to the test and the 2 inch gap between the end of the curtain and the floor did nothing to stop the leakage. When we asked for someone to mop the water up the man at reception sent up a women who was being trained as a concierge to mop the floor (and not a member of housekeeping). We then insisted to move and were told that if we brought our suitcases down the next morning that a room would be available after 12. This is not acceptable when we had already paid for a standard twin room and were having to a) wait to access it for one night and b) sleep in a room we did not ask for. We insisted that they moved our luggage for us, which they did however with much disdain. Aside from this initial mishap a number of further issues were apparent at Illunion Bel-Art. The phone did not work in the second room either, the staff at reception kept reminding us that there were only two people working at all times (meaning that they were then excused from assisting customers at all times). We asked at least four times if it was possible to book a taxi. Each time we were told that it is easier to find one on the street- despite the fact that we had tried many a time to do so with no luck. When we asked for a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine we were told that the only chef in the hotel had lost it that morning and was searching for it. After a 20 minute wait, and no chef or corkscrew in sight, we were told to go to a local bar and borrow one. This was shocking considering a hotel of that size (which presumably serves wine) only had one corkscrew that was 'lost'. We took matters into our own hands and tried to find a member of the restaurant staff- we came across no staff members but instead an incredibly dirty kitchen. Our room key was removed from the power slot in our room on day three meaning that the air con was off all day and we came back to a hot room daily. Furthermore, the tone in which the staff use to serve customers is rude and abrupt. It is as if it is a problem to have customers; which is not something one hopes for when paying to stay at a hotel. I do not like writing such negative reviews but unfortunately I have never had such a negative experience as this one. I will not be returning here again despite the fact that we come to Barcelona every year. Collapse

Nice hotel and very close to all main attractions. The metro is literally 2-5 mins walk from the Hotel. The only downside is the noise outside during the night. Hotel is clean and tidy. Staff were alright, not great customer service.

The location of this hotel is really good. It is close to a metro station (Alfons) and you can easily walk to the Sagrada and the Parc Guell from here. Sevice was polite and helpful. Although check in was a little slow. Hotel was clean, maid service good and fresh bottles of water each day in he room. Wi fi was a little hit and miss in the room but not unusable. There was a restaurant for breakfast and dinner but we did not use it. There are plenty of lovely café bars in the area to chose from. Collapse

The room was comfy, clean and modern. Good wifi speed and USB charging sockets were a helpful plus point. The bathroom was also very nice with a very good shower. Room service was a Telepizza menu but that worked great for me! The staff were very helpful and very customer friendly at all times. But thats were positives end. The room keys werent working on my first night. There was only 1 person in reception managing everything from check ins, queries , letting guests in and out etc. There was also 1 person in the restaurant. Thats it! So as you can imagine, with just 2 people running the show, service was always very very slow. Queues at reception usually meant waiting 30 mins before being attended to. The service at the restaurant took a long time. When the food came it was ok tastewise but portions were tiny. The hotel is not centrally located. You are a bit out of the way to go see the city. This also meant that taxis passed very infrequently. Despite booking over the phone we were left waiting for over 30 mins on more than one ocasion. Besides the room and the staff there is not much more in favour of this hotel. Collapse
