Around a 5-7 minute walk from the Alfons X metro station so it is quite conveniently located. The actual area it is in isn't very 'happening' and make sure you convert currency before getting there as there is no currency exchange service nearby. The room was clean however there was an unpleasant odour lingering in the bathroom which was probably linked to the drainage system. Customer service/front desk was decent however ringing room service was a nightmare, didn't ever manage to get through/communicate what was needed. We had booked a triple room so expected 3 single beds (as advertised) but upon arrival there was a double bed and a sofa bed which we just made do with. Overall it was ok for the price but nothing special. Collapse

I must say that the location is great! Close to the basilica and metro! When we originally booked, we booked for 4 nights but due to a specialist appointment we had to change our Europe dates and shorten our trip to one night. We had to pay for 4 nights regardless and couldn't be refunded. Upon arrival, I asked if we could be refunded but the girl explained we couldn't because of the terms. I asked if we can get complimentary breakfast since we paid for that room for one extra night which they could rent out and make additional money on it. They didn't really want to allow out and had to speak to management about it. In the end, they gave us complimentary breakfast which we were happy about. However, the breakfast was nothing special at all (we only had it one morning) but I would seriously regret paying for it. We just came from Majorca where they made omlets for you and this was just a continental breakfast with not much to choose from. Otherwise, good location and nice room! Collapse

I and two friends stayed in this hotel recently and found it to be excellent value. It is very clean, comfortable and the front desk service was excellent. Sergio at the front desk was particularly helpful. The location is great, about 5 blocks from the Sagrada Familia and the hop on, hop off bus stop. Tons of restaurants nearby at all price levels. We felt very safe in the area. It is in a quiet neighbourhood so we had no problem with noise. The room was smallish as Europen hotel rooms often are but the bathroom was a good size and had been recently modernized. A kettle with coffee and tea is available in the room which I like. It was a very comfortable stay for three women and I highly recommend it. Collapse

This hotel should not, in my opinion be 4 stars- if anything it should be 2. A friend and I stayed for a week and were truly shocked at the lack of any sort of customer service whatsoever as well as the lack is staff available to assist with basic requests and queries. Upon check in we were NOT informed that we had been placed in a room for disabled guests, with a small double bed and a shower room that leaked water into the bedroom, as opposed to the standard twin room that we had booked. We went downstairs to inform reception as the telephone in the room did not work. We were told there was nothing that could be done as there were only two staff members working and that the hotel was full. We were then told (in a very rude tone) that if we had simply 'pulled the red lever in the bathroom down that a curtain would have appeared to block any water from the shower going onto the floor'. We later put this to the test and the 2 inch gap between the end of the curtain and the floor did nothing to stop the leakage. When we asked for someone to mop the water up the man at reception sent up a women who was being trained as a concierge to mop the floor (and not a member of housekeeping). We then insisted to move and were told that if we brought our suitcases down the next morning that a room would be available after 12. This is not acceptable when we had already paid for a standard twin room and were having to a) wait to access it for one night and b) sleep in a room we did not ask for. We insisted that they moved our luggage for us, which they did however with much disdain. Aside from this initial mishap a number of further issues were apparent at Illunion Bel-Art. The phone did not work in the second room either, the staff at reception kept reminding us that there were only two people working at all times (meaning that they were then excused from assisting customers at all times). We asked at least four times if it was possible to book a taxi. Each time we were told that it is easier to find one on the street- despite the fact that we had tried many a time to do so with no luck. When we asked for a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine we were told that the only chef in the hotel had lost it that morning and was searching for it. After a 20 minute wait, and no chef or corkscrew in sight, we were told to go to a local bar and borrow one. This was shocking considering a hotel of that size (which presumably serves wine) only had one corkscrew that was 'lost'. We took matters into our own hands and tried to find a member of the restaurant staff- we came across no staff members but instead an incredibly dirty kitchen. Our room key was removed from the power slot in our room on day three meaning that the air con was off all day and we came back to a hot room daily. Furthermore, the tone in which the staff use to serve customers is rude and abrupt. It is as if it is a problem to have customers; which is not something one hopes for when paying to stay at a hotel. I do not like writing such negative reviews but unfortunately I have never had such a negative experience as this one. I will not be returning here again despite the fact that we come to Barcelona every year. Collapse
