The location is not the best, lots of walking to get to shopping areas. The best thing about this hotel was the Receptionist Rosalyn. One day we asked a young man who was on the reception desk a question about getting to a location and his reply was go find the manager, he can tell you... Really??? The only ammenity in the room was a bar of soap in the bathroom. To use the shower in the bath tub, you had to be an acrobat. The breakfast was okay, but a larger variety would have been nice...most of the staff were okay but possibly need some training in customer service, saying good morning is not a hard thing to do. I am not usually this critical of places where we stay but I was soooo disappointed, it was no where near the beach, the hotel could use an update and some good staff training would go a long way. We won't be staying here again, that I do know for sure... Collapse

We stayed here for one week half board mid-May. The room and bathroom were clean, though the only toiletries provided was a small bar of soap. Plenty of sockets for charging appliances and they take British plugs. Small fridge in room and a safe which was just large enough to take an iPad Pro but probably not a laptop. Safe costs 2 Euros per day. It's been a while since we stayed at a hotel where you have to unlock your door with a real key, no electronic key cards here. This is a small hotel which was a plus for us, also in a quiet area. There are only 79 rooms. Ours had a balcony partly looking over the pool and sea view, the building work opposite didn't bother us, it's mostly internal fittings now. The breakfasts were as expected, can't understand why anyone would complain about them: hot food, cereals, meats, cheeses, yoghurts, fresh bread to toast and fresh croissants, fruit juices and coffee machines. The menu for the evening meals is on display at the reception desk all day, it is a buffet style with soup to start, a salad bar, and three choices for main course and a dessert. There are also cheese and crackers and fresh fruit. We never left the dining room hungry it was excellent value and all well cooked, no complaints at all. The hotel is well located for local buses though I would suggest walking the 5 minutes to the bus station in Buggiba as all the seats on the bus are usually gone by the time the bus gets to the nearest bus stop to the hotel. The Cheeky Monkey bar also 5 minutes away has a happy hour 4-7pm 2 for 1 cocktails every night which I recommend too! That's 4 cocktails for 10 GBP made with the proper spirits. Collapse

Could not fault this hotel for value for money, cleanliness, comfort, great breakfasts and lovely staff. Decor possibly a bit dated but this is a matter of taste-we were fine with everything. We arrived after midnight. Night receptionist (male) extremely friendly and helpful. Official Parking at Hotel is just 3 car spaces immediately in front as far as we know. If you don't manage to get one of these spaces you can park across the street unofficially but as there is building work going on there is a lot of dust, builders, trucks and sometimes a crane in operation so it's not the best place to park. Having said that we had to park there on occasion and all was ok. You can also park down the street anywhere there is a white box which is safe. Bedroom very clean, bed extremely comfortable (extra pillow was provided on request). Bathroom spotless. Breakfast great, lots of variety tea, coffee, juice, water, cooked food, eggs, bacon etc. salads, cheese, cold meats, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, croissants, nutella, etc. Breakfast bar constantly replenished by kitchen staff. Hotel Manager, Rosaline the Receptionist, Restaurant Manager & all restaurant staff and house-keeping Staff very courteous, friendly and attentive. House-keeping carried out every day unless otherwise specified by guests - everything replenished. Tea/Coffee making facility in room with small fridge. Our room had balcony which faced onto the Hotel across the street but we believe there are rooms with sea views but we booked our trip late. Street is a bit noisy too early in the morning. Outdoor Pool is a nice area to sunbathe or swim but unfortunately due to the building work noise across the street it's not so easy to relax there. Indoor heated pool is small. WiFi is intermittent. The Hotel was very busy with lots of guests and has a nice atmosphere within. Short walk to seafront, shops, restaurants, bus station etc. Cons: Short walk from this Hotel down to the seafront but it seemed every where we looked there was building or work going on with several cranes on the skyline. Also we thought some of the existing buildings in the area looked quite run down. Plastic bags with rubbish are left out on the street (possibly for collection) and we noticed quite a few feral cats on the street at night. These negatives are obviously not the fault of the Hotel but we felt we should point them out all the same. Collapse
Nothing special but decent prices

Maybe it's simply because I am no holiday traveller... Being on a business trip in Malta, the location of the Il Palazzin Hotel in Qawra seemed fairly ideal as I could walk to the venue I had my meetings. However, that's about it for the advantages, except maybe for the decent prices. The neighborhood as well as the hotel seemed a bit run down even though there is a lot of construction going on around the hotel. The room I've got had a small balcony with sea view, a refrigerator (not in use), air condition, an old fashioned safe (certainly not big enough for a laptop) and cable tv with only a few channels available. The shower worked fine (that's a plus), it was clean and the bed quite okay. However, wifi was unstable and difficult to use for streaming services. At least it was free of charge. Breakfast was very average even though it contained full English. However, it needs to be mentioned that staff is very friendly. Overall, not what I would expect from a four star hotel and I would probably not choose it again. Collapse

The staff was kind and helpful, breakfast had a wide variety of things and there was a detailed that really touched my heart. I left a beloved soft pet in the room and the hotel management went beyond their job description to get it all sorted out so that my soft pet could return to me in Sweden with express post and all on them. It might be an object worthless to many but it had a high sentimental value for me. Thanks for that gesture :) Collapse
