Just returned back from a fantastic 9 nights in a fun family setting, great weather and great company. A huge thank you to the animation team who made our holiday - you probably don't realise the lasting effect you make on our children's lives - all the team were fab but special thanks to Linea, Lucia and Anna Isobel for really making an effort with our children (who can be some what obsessive at times with things they love), and Adam, Ashley and Adrian. Also special thanks to Isabel Diaz our house keeper, our kids loved you too! Rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels. Bath handles could do with seeing a toothbrush around the underside but I find this to be the case in most 3 star hotels! The hotel itself was a little awkward to get your head round at first, it's a big hotel with lots of nationalities- the majority of whom don't have knowledge of the British queuing system which will annoy you unless you go with this in mind. Once you find your bearings it's fine and soon becomes familiar. There were no issues with lifts and higher floors offer the best views as the pools are surrounded by trees which block out the sun at the lower levels. We asked to move rooms so we could view the entertainment from our room in case the kids got tired, although only opted to do this on one night as the entertainment program flows well with no breaks from 8pm mini disco through to 9pm main act. The acts by the animation team were fun and energetic - we preferred these to the outside 'professional' act. Throughout the day there was competitions and activities if you wanted to join in and a mini club for the children. There are lots of pools to choose from, a small kids pool - cold but very peaceful as there was no one else using it so like a private pool at a villa! A pool which was heated and by the entertainment program which had regular catchy dance routines through the day and a quieter pool the other side which was sunnier all day. There were bars at each of the larger pools offering self service coffees, soft drinks, water and slush, bar service for alcohol. At night there was table service for your drinks. Please be aware that the entertainment is outdoors and it can get chilly in the evenings - blankets were available for a small deposit at the bar! There is a British bar showing the football and selling English pints but this is not in the all inclusive deal. A pint of carling was about 3.5 Euro. Wifi in the reception was good but I hardly used this, sometimes could be picked up by the pools. The reason I haven't given this a 5 star review is due to how chaotic meal times were, in particular the evening meal was very busy. They operate a red/green card system which was excellent, find a table with a green card, switch it to red then you are free to go and get your drinks meals without losing your table, turn it back to green when your done. Waiting staff were quick to clear tables and food choice was great, although not much for kids apart from the odd chicken nugget, weird fish finger, burgers and hotdogs every meal and a selection of pasta and sauce - unfortunately my kids are fussy so lived on chips cheese and ice cream! Breakfast was great, a selection of cooked and continental, cakes, pancakes, breads, fruit - everything you could imagine! Drinks again are self service from dispensers, alcohol from the bar. Tea/coffee only available at breakfast. All inclusive didn't start till 11 so a bit of a gap between breakfast and it starting but not a major problem. Beware of the sofa bed!!!! The rooms have twin single beds and a double sofa bed. The sofa bed has sharp metal edges which cut my daughter on the first day. The mattress is humped in the middle. I slept with my daughter on the sofa bed - it wasn't ideal but didn't ruin the holiday by any means - just could do with improving! All inclusive guests get Amstel served in glass tankards at night, plastic by pool, usual local spirits, choice of 4 cocktails, slush puppies and ice cream selection plus 3 meals and snacks between meals! Located 5 - 10 minute easy walk to promenade however beach is down around 400 steps, there is an elevator which reduces this some what but still a number of stairs to address. Collapse

I celebrated my birthday week at the IFA Buenaventura and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I heard that the hotel would be 4 star if they had air con in the rooms and it certainly feels far superior to any other 3 star hotel I've stayed in before. The hotel, whilst a little dated in parts, was kept immaculately clean with an army of friendly staff ensuring everything was how it should be - gardens tended to every day, sunbed areas around the pools washed and swept, rooms tidied, corridors dusted and swept.... We went all inclusive and the food was great, however the dining room was incredibly busy but that can only be expected of such a large hotel. Sunbeds could potentially be hard to come by but again that's due to the numbers the hotel can accommodate. There is a beautiful beach 10 mins walk away if the busy poolside was too much! Waiter service at the bar was great and again, the staff were so friendly and fun. Collapse

One of the largest hotels that we have stayed in, too big for our liking, but not a criticism. The location is good, being a 10 or 15 minute walk to/ from the beach. The hotel provided a shuttle bus that we didn't use, because we like walking and are fit enough to cope. The walk back mainly involves a lot of steps. The hotel staff were great and very efficient and accommodating. Enjoyed my breakfasts and lunch snacks and the many drinks on all inclusive. Didn't enjoy the evening meals so much, because of the buffet style an our preference for eating out at a restaurant. However, plenty of choice to accommodate most tastes. Great beach nearby and the walk across the dunes was something you need to be fit enough to survive. You may need to avert your eyes when accounting the naked bodies, mostly male! Collapse

Nice spacious room, good choice of food in the restaurant, Entertainment team are very talented. Not sure why they mimed to so many songs though when they clearly had some excellent singers among the group. Also a bit annoying the way they shouted "Hey" or "Hey Hey" or "Hey Hey Hey" every 5 minutes, even when miming to songs but, other than that, they did a great job! Only downside is the fact that it is an extremely busy hotel which means queuing for food in the restaurant which is why I have only rated this 4 stars. Collapse

Staff, Cleanliness and bar service was faultless! The restaurant dining experience was very busy however, particularly in the evenings. Getting a table was difficult on the 2 nights we ate in the hotel, and the food was perfectly nice, but not up to the standards of bars in the area which were vwry affordable anyway. Collapse
