We stayed overnight at the Icon Hotel to ensure we made an early flight from Luton Airport the next day. We decided to try this hotel after researching on Tripadvisor, as we wanted a different experience to that offered by the usual "Airport" hotels. We were beyond thrilled with our choice! The rich style and elegance of the Icon Hotel struck us immediately as we walked into reception. The stylish art adorning the walls and the colourful decor of the lounge area created a feel of decadence and luxury, beyond that which you expect in a mid-range hotel. James, who checked us in, was very friendly and welcoming. We would like to commend him for going out of his way to ensure the children had the evening meal of their choice, which they rated as "The best pizza ever!". The room was very spacious and comfortable, and very well dressed. In fact, the bed was the most comfortable that we have slept in a hotel! The array of toiletries and plump towels in the bathroom further enhanced our stay. The hotel offers a great breakfast, which we managed to enjoy before leaving for the airport. James kindly pre-booked a taxi from a preferred cab company, and this arrived promptly to take us on the 10-minute journey to the airport. We really wished that we could have stayed longer! The Icon Hotel, with its style and friendly team, is a real find that is hard to beat! Collapse

Myself, my husband and two friends went to the Icon Hotel for a meal and was very disappointed. The menu is not extensive by any means but there was no steak and no fish so this made it a very small choice. We ordered a bottle of wine on arrival and only 30 minutes later when we asked them to cancel it was it brought. We had our meal which was ok but the cheese and biscuits was just that dry biscuits and cheese there was no butter and when we said you forgot the grapes the waitress said "we are out of grapes" but offered us honey. We then sat in the lounge and ordered another drink but seeing everyone else being served and chatted to we cancelled the last drink and proceeded to pay. There was a mistake on the bill which in fairness they accepted and corrected. Sadly we left deciding we would not be going back. There were very few people there on this evening and no excuse for the lack of either menu items or service. Collapse

Great for location. We have stayed before and will most likely stay again. We take the Linton Suite as it has the best space, more expensive but good for space. Also it's on the "quiet" floor which we like. The hotel management were very accommodating with our request for special diet, thank you. The female on reception could be a bit more welcoming. On check in we had a very serious face and almost nil conversation. By about day 3 of our 5 day stay we got a smile and a greeting. Collapse

We booked a one night stay at this hotel which included "park and fly". On arrival the day before our flight we explained we had to leave in the early hours and enquired about eating in the restaurant that evening as we did not want to go out. We were told (and could clearly see and hear) a party was ongoing in the restaurant but it was due to finish at 6.30. That was fine. We came down for dinner around 7.30. The party was clearly still going strong and although the staff were extremely apologetic they explained that it was not company policy to ask people to leave (even if they have overstayed their booked time). They offered to set a table up for us in a library room or we could eat in the lounge area. The library room was totally unsuitable and the lounge area only had low sofa's and no proper tables to sit at. I think it was gone 8.00 p.m. when we accepted (as we had no other choice if we wanted to get a reasonably early night) a table set for us towards the back of the room where the party was. It is not a large room, we felt very conspicuous and embarrassed not to mention the noise around us. Eventually, I believe the party moved to the library room. We were quite surprised that we were still charged full price for the meal and they did not even bother to throw in the bottle of wine. This was not a good start to our holiday, however, I probably would not have even bothered writing a report and mentioning this if the return experience had not been ten times worse. We were given a voucher when we left for our return taxi (which was included in our price). We were told to call the number on the voucher and they would be there very quickly. We did this. After waiting ten minutes outside Luton airport watching taxi's come and go we called again. We were told "he was two minutes away". Ten minutes later (now twenty minutes of standing around) we called again and were told "he was two minutes away". Ten minutes later (now thirty minutes of standing around) we called again and were told "he was two minutes away - traffic is bad". Traffic was not bad. We had been watching it flowing pretty freely for thirty minutes. Eventually after around 40 minutes we gave up and picked up our own taxi to take us back to the hotel. I know this is outside the control of the hotel, however, they should be using a more reliable taxi service. The hotel refunded the money we paid for the second taxi, however, I am disabled and standing around for forty minutes after a long day of travelling and flying is totally unacceptable. This simply should not have happened and because of this we would never use the hotel again and would not recommend it as somewhere to stay and park and ride for Luton airport. Collapse
