We stayed in this hotel the first and last night of our 5 night tour. The first night we had issues with maintenance. The shower handle was too tight and we had to call the front desk get it fixed. As it turned out, the previous guest had to really tighten the handle to stop a dripping leak. We decided not to do the same so we had the close the bath room door to stop the dripping noise. The same with the coffee maker. It did not work. We had to ask for a replacement. The towels were a bit on the used side. Overall, it is OK after an 8 hour flight. The last night, when they put the two twin beds together, the wall light was right above where I would get up. My head got hit many times by the wall light. Don't you think they would know about minor details like these, or do they care? The hotel is about 3 miles from down town tourist areas. The hotel provides a free bus pass for two for the duration of the stay. But it is not cool to wait for the bus in the cold. The hotel is ok. You may want to find a hotel closer to down town. My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend as part of an IcelandAir package booked through Travelzoo. I was a little skeptical due to it's airport location, but if 3 propeller planes took off in the times we were in the room (before 9AM, after 8PM) over the course of 4 nights, that's a lot. As far as room quality, we stayed in a standard room. It was nothing spectacular, typical European style (small) but it was clean and a very comfortable place to rest our heads. Our window overlooked the mountains which were a stunning backdrop. The restaurant was fantastic, albeit expensive. However, by Icelandic standards, it was fairly priced for the quality. The front desk was always helpful, although I could see where during the busy times they can become quite overwhelmed. Free bus passes were provided to customers (which runs like clockwork). It's a pleasant walk to downtown and who could resist breathing in that fresh sea air! If you don't mind being outside of the action and plan to really just spend your time in the room to shower and sleep, this hotel fits the bill. Collapse

Just got back after 4 nights here - we had a fantastic time in Iceland, and this hotel had its ups and downs. This hotel has been done up downstairs and in certain rooms and looks fantastic - but we stayed in a standard room which was standard. The positives: - The beds were really comfy! The pillows were lovely and bedrooms were really quiet - Rooms kept clean - The downstairs of the hotel is really modern and nice - Free wifi and computer use - Welcome brownie, fruit and macaroons on a platter in the room - Drive to hotel is big which means the buses can pull up right outside for excursions - some of the hotels in the centre had to drop passengers at the nearest drop off which wasn't ideal in the Icelandic weather! - Location - do not be put off that this isn't in the centre of the city. We loved this location. It's quiet but a bus pass is offered for free (bus stop is right outside hotel maybe a 2 minute walk) which means you can get on any of the bus routes around the city which we took advantage of. This hotel is also walking distance to Perlan which is an excellent viewing point up from the hotel. Unfortunately the weather was so bad we saw very little but on a good day the views would be amazing! There's a cafe there and they are opening a museum for Summer 2017. There's also world war 2 relics on the way up and walkable distance to the beach at Nautholsvik which has a natural heated pool and a steam bath. Also really close to BSÍ bus station where you can go on excursions but most usually pick you up from the hotel. The downs of this hotel: - The standard rooms are really basic - not even a kettle. They have a coffee machine downstairs but we expected tea and coffee facilities in the room - Mystery stain on the wall which just required a lick of paint but the effort hadn't been made - Bathrooms are really small and have no bath - Thermostat in room didn't work - We were there for a special occasion and I did ask if there was anything the hotel could do for this but they basically told me no which was disappointing - The hairdryer was awful! I have long hair and it took me 20 minutes and my hair still wasn't dry. You had to hold your thumb on the button to keep it on which meant I ended up with cramp in my thumb as it took so long. It may be ok for short hair but personally I would take your own. - The lighting in the room isn't great All in all this hotel is fine for a short stay and the location is actually very good. The restaurant looked lovely but we didn't eat there. Pricey - yes but only as much as the rest of Iceland seems to be! Collapse

Great hotel - location isn't the absolute best but still easy to get to downtown. The only thing that made the location difficult is when we were coming from all day tours or excursions with anticipation of the northern lights tours at night. We'd get back late and have little time to eat in between both tours. Luckily there is a restaurant in the hotel which is decent for breakfast (included in some packages) and a quick dinner. The hotel offers a free bus pass which will get you to downtown in 5-10 minutes. The room was as expected - very clean and comfortable. Shower is tiny but the unlimited hot water really makes a difference! Plus the shower products are L'occitane and plentiful. Like full sized pump soap and shampoo and conditioner in the shower. No need to bring your own stuff. Really happy with our stay and if you're ok with a quick bus ride to town, highly recommend it! Collapse
