We had 3 rooms in Ewa tower. They were average rooms with average views. There was a line to the lobby level elevator after I checkin at 1pm but I didn't think much of it until I got to my floor and the key would not work. Fortunately there was a phone by the elevators and I explained what happened she told me she would send security up. 15 mins later I called again after nobody showed up to help. Then she told me she had given me the wrong room number. My key did open the correct room. After dropping bags I needed food and pushed button for elevator- twice it stopped but was full. I was lucky to get early checkin by 3pm when I returned from lunch the line was longer and using the elevator was bad joke. We could not coordinate anything and one member walk down 15 floors to get to other party. The staff started using staff elevators also for customers. Which helped somewhat but the doors going down were locked. Our floor was to high to walk but low so the elevators were always full going down. Morning was complete disaster as we and everyone else tried to escape for breakfast before checking out st 11. I called many times saying I was stuck they kept telling me security would help me - the last time I told them don't send security send a helicopter. Basically we were at this hotel 22 hours and spent at least 3 hours trying to get up or down the Ewa Tower . We had to skip the breakfast we planned and be happy with "breakfast" sandwiches from the lobby coffee shop. Our complaints were not addressed or compensated in any way. Collapse

My family and I have just returned from this amazing property where we spent 10 fabulous nights in an oceanview room. This was our second stay at The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa and yet again is exceeded all if not more of our expectations. The staff were absolutely beautiful people who made us feel like a part of the Hyatt family. A very big thanks to Christa,Sonya,Tessa, Lisa and our fabulous entertainer Iz who made waiting for the lifts so much fun with his singing and ukele playing. The property is in a perfect central location right opposite Waikiki Beach and on the main street which made walking everywhere so very easy. The breakfast buffet was superb and the staff so very attentive. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful property without any hesitation. Thank you Hyattt Collapse
Fantastic view, average room!

Booked the "Deluxe Ocean Front" style room, which we were later informed is one step down from the suites. By all means this room delivered on the ocean front view- probably one of the best in the whole resort as you can see right down Waikiki Beach from the balcony, we were just left feeling underwhelmed by the 4 star rating the hotel has, and "deluxe" being used to describe a very dated room. The bathroom was very small, all the wooden furniture is scratched and damaged, the minibar was empty, there are no ceiling lights, the balcony was only just big enough for the small table and 2 chairs, and we could not find information for room service. The pool and hot tub area is very small for the amount of guests, and children/ babies were allowed enter the hot tub (I have always seen this amenity be reserved for adults/ over 16's). Staff at this resort more than make up for the mediocre quality of the furnishings- everyone we met was helpful and friendly. The resort is very clean and our room was serviced daily. The location is great and there is a shop for everything you could want right at your doorstep. Collapse

My first time in a Hawaii was a nice getaway from the cold and snow where I’m from. Upon arrival, you first notice that you’re directly across from the fun of Waikiki beach. The hotel is massive with 2 towers and a rather small front desk. When I got inside, I stood in the Hyatt Traveler line. While waiting to be helped, a agent called me over to be checked in. She was very monotone when speaking to me, but at that point I just wanted to lay down after being on an airplane for 11hrs. Apparently there was some elevator maintenance taking place because they were very slow, it took us almost 10min to get one to take us upstairs. The view was the first thing you notice, it was amazing! The upgrade for an ocean view was $75 per night, even for a Hyatt member which I didn’t agree with. I did ask could that fee be waived, I was told no. Our room was very spacious, except for the bathroom part of the room. There’s a separate vanity area that’s very large, but once you get into the shower area with the toilet it’s extremely small. We didn’t spend much time in the room, except to sleep. The bar area was ok, the buffet was basic with not a lot of options, but it had king crab legs so I guess that’s a good thing! The pool area was extremely small. For a hotel with that many rooms, it seems like they have a small pool with expectations that everyone will go to the beach daily, but that shouldn’t be the case. I’ve stayed at smaller Hyatt properties that had larger pools, this could definitely stand to be remodeled. Later in the stay, the issue with the elevators became more of a problem. I was trying to go downstairs and it took 20min to get an elevator on the 35th floor. I ended up having to catch one going up and had to ride it back down. Seems like 2 out of the 4 elevators were out of service. Our housekeeper Rey was great, he cleaned the room thoroughly and made sure we had everything we needed daily. The day of checkout, things got a little weird. We had the bellman go get our bags from the room while we were out eating breakfast. When we got back to the hotel, we noticed that he left a small pillow and blanket that my wife uses for flights, a scarf, and 2 books in the room. When I went upstairs to get the belongings, I saw the housekeeper and a supervisor on the floor. The supervisor was able to get the scarf and 2 books, but the housekeeper said that she threw the other belongings in the trash. I would think that if you found things left by a guest, they would be placed in lost and found. Wasn’t sure why some items were tossed in the trash and some weren’t. The supervisor took me to speak to a manager, her name was Celia I believe but I’m not to sure. When I explained what happen, she just looked unsure of what to say or do. Considering I used 40,000 Hyatt points for this trip, overall the stay was just ok. There wasn’t anything that wowed us except the view. Paying a resort fee should ensure an amazing stay but it didn’t. May consider staying at another property on our next stay in Waikiki. Collapse
