We stayed here for three nights using points I accrued staying at other Hyatts. I thought it would be interesting to stay near Times Square but really Times Square is awful - not as seedy as it was 40 years ago but now just mobbed with tourists. Not really much fun. By chance I saw that there is a Hyatt in Union Square, which I think would have been a much better choice. My wife kept saying that she much preferred the Hyatt in Jersey City (where we stayed last September) and I agree. The room we had was just barely large enough to accommodate a King-sized bed. I had read other reviews talking about the spacious rooms at this Hyatt but that was definitely not the case for us. There was a family of four staying across the hall from us so I am sure there are bigger rooms available. Collapse

Stayed at Hyatt Centric for 8 nights for my husband's 40th Birthday. A great hotel! We stayed in a Deluxe View King room on the 49th floor. Apart from the occasional siren, it was a quiet room with a view of Chrysler Building to the east, World Trade Centre to the South and Hudson River to the West. We used the gym twice which was well equipped. We didn't managed to get the SkyLounge due to jet-lag at the start of vacation and then Private Functions 3 nights straight - maybe an area could be cordoned off for residents when this occurs? We can't wait to go back! Collapse

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in February for a 30th birthday vacation. We chose this hotel because of it's central location, close to Times Square and because it is a relatively new hotel and was not disappointed. Arrival - Had no trouble finding the hotel, although the signage is more subtle than some of the other properties on the street (head for the Irish bars and you can't miss it!). The employees on the door were polite however the lady on reception was a bit quiet which could have come across as rude but I think it was a one off as they were all very helpful for the rest of the stay. We were checked in quickly and given a room on the 53rd floor. Room - Again easy to find, just make sure you use the lifts on the right hand side if going to a high floor as the others only go part way. The room itself was clean and spacious and nicely decorated. They had even left a little card and gift for my birthday which was a lovely touch. There was a desk area with multiple connections for electronics, nice big TV and a coffee machine with free coffee pods. We didn't use the coffee but you can use the machine to just boil hot water if you have tea etc. Would have been nice to see tea included in the free options though. They provide a fridge and bottled water daily. Hairdryer and toiletries also provided (which smelt lovely! Think it was one of their spa ranges) and a great rain forest shower. Both the bathroom and main room have floor to ceiling windows which provide lovely views of the city...We often used the little chair & table in the room to watch the world go by. Room itself was pretty quiet, some noise from car horns and police etc but considering how close it is to times square I don't think you can avoid this. Only minor issue we had with the room was the heating was a bit 'off'. It often blew out very cold air when we actually wanted heat. Turned it off for most of the break. There is a heated floor in the bathroom though which was great. Location - Perfect for us, very close to times square and walking distance to 5th avenue, rockefeller centre and the tube stations. We even walked to central park. If you want a hotel out of the hustle and bustle of the city though I wouldn't choose this one. Better for tourists wanting to be close to it all. Food - we did not use the restaurant/bar at the hotel (or any of the other facilities) so I can't comment on them. However there are LOADS of options near by in various price ranges so very easy to find something. Cafe cranberry a few doors down was great for breakfast options. Overall I would use this hotel again as it was perfect for our site seeing trip. Collapse
