Non Refundable Hotel. N.B 100% cancellation charge applies. The Howbeck guest house is one of Windermere's top luxury boutique places to stay. Graded a 5 Star Guest House by the AA in recognition of the excellent customer service, as well as superb levels of comfort. The Howbeck prides on providing a delightful retreat where the warmth and friendliness of the Howbeck team are always apparent. With an aim to provide the kind of service you would only expect in some of the top luxury Windermere & Lake District guest houses. From the moment you arrive you will be made to feel welcome and to feel at home.
All of the rooms are well appointed and spacious. The three ground floor rooms provide easier access for the less able, and every single room provides a comfortable retreat after a day out and about exploring the stunning scenery of the Lake District. Each room has been individually styled with fully co-ordinated soft furnishings and ensuite bathrooms, some with luxury spa baths, crisp white linen and snug quilts adorn all beds, while cosy towelling bathrobes are available throughout your stay. There is also a TV & wireless broadband available for guests. Although being in the heart of the Lake District, it would be a travesty to miss its dramatic scenery and beautiful landscapes, despite the temptation of the luxury and comfort of The Howbeck.
The Howbeck's award-winning restaurant is the perfect place to start your day. Whether you're planning to hike, cycle, sail or simply sightsee, what better way to set yourself up than with a hearty Cumbrian platter. Whatever your reason for visiting the Lake District, the team at the Howbeck will go to every length to make your stay comfortable, to see that you are looked after and are confident that you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at the Howbeck for one night for our anniversary. We had the Mickleden room which is at the back of the hotel on the ground floor. It is a lovely light room which looked out onto the magnolia tree which was in full bloom. The room and bathroom were very clean and the nice touch of a decanter of sherry. The spa bath was just what was needed after a day walking in the Lakes! There is an honesty bar in the residents lounge and all tastes in drinks were catered for. There was a good choice for breakfast which was ordered the night before. The breakfast was plentiful and hot. The staff were friendly and helpful. We have visited the Lakes many times before and would definitely recommend the Howbeck and hope to return again soon! Collapse

Stayed two night's at The Retreat at Howbeck. Booked direct arriving a couple of hours after we'd made our booking! Kindly greeted on arrival and shown around our accomodation. Complimentary decanter of sherry in our room, fairy lights above our bed and scattered rose petals. The Retreat is privately located at the rear of the building. Beautifully appointed throughout. Patio doors lead to a private terrace with table and chairs, a tumbling fountain and illuminated coach lights creating a warm, tranquil relaxing space perfect for al fresco dining or evening drinks. Well maintained, clean and spacious room with dining table and chairs, sofa, tv, minibar, walk in wardrobe, kettle, hospitality tray - extremely well equipped. The Retreat has a beautiful large bathroom which boasts a double jetted air bath, mood lighting, tv, double shower and quality fluffy towels and bathrobes. Breakfast is pre-booked the day before and served as room service direct to your door at your chosen time. Simply select menu choice and time and post in reception. The full english breakfasts were great! Staff very professional, courteous and ensured we enjoyed our stay nothing was too much trouble. Accomodation, staff, food, location, cleanliness, car park on site, tops marks 10/10 we could not fault The Howbeck. A perfect, memorable stay in the Lakes. Happy to recommend The Howbeck and would definately return. Thank you to the kind staff that welcomed and looked after us during our stay - a very pleasant birthday away. Book The Retreat you won't be disappointed. Collapse

Its very disappointing to find a run down place like this. Was expecting 5*hotel . There is no restaurant There is no bar There is some agreement with a spa 30mins away Dont be fooled into thinking there's a pool or spa on site. Small room..shower only ..no luxury bath or jacuzzi. Tiny poor quality tv(17" computer monitor on the wall) Breakfast is 1 hour 8.30 till 9.30 grotty dining area. The smell of breakfast cooking will eventually reach the inside of your room so dont worry about missing it...the smell will wake you up. Make sure u check out at 11.00am at 11.30 the staff threatened us with "we'll charge u an extra £20". Its a million miles from 5* ...don't be fooled. Collapse

Stayed for 1 night b&b in the mickleden room which was clean, spacious and quiet. It has double aspect windows and overlooked a spectacular magnolia tree (we focused on that rather than the car park) breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We come to Windemere a couple of times a year, we like to eat at Francine's and would happily stay at the howbeck for future visits. Collapse
