Did not stay at the hotel but attended an Xmas dinner dance on Saturday in December, I'm reviewing that. Ambiance and table set out quite well, but welcome drink not offered on arrival, just plonked on the tables. Prices at the bar eyewateringly expensive, food was bland and main course really small. Dance was a small square of floor in the corridor shared with several other parties. Not really good value for money Collapse
Nice Hotel and pool, terrible bar food.

For my review bias, for the last 15 years I have stayed approximately 50-100 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain. Date of stay 5th December 2017 My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows: 1) The hotel was about 800m away from where the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions said it was. 2) There is a large free onsite carpark that surrounds the hotel. 3) On arrival at the hotel, the check in clerk Elena was pleasant and friendly. As a SPIRE rewards club member, I received access to the free WIFI and choice of a rewards points voucher or alternatively if you wish you may choose the option of a free drink at the bar instead. 4) As a Spire member however, I was not automatically upgraded. I was given room 200 to check into. I arrived with my father who is also a Spire member who was upgraded. After questioning Elena I was eventually upgraded, I headed straight up to the new room 308 to find it fully occupied by a lovely but very confused and startled gentleman guest. I trudged back to reception explained the last 5 minutes and was finally given room 313. 5) All area’s including the bedrooms were always well kept, tidy and clean. My praise goes to housekeeping team for the cleanliness of the rooms and in general in the hotel 6) My final room 313 was clean and well maintained, and in keeping with the IHG brand standards. (see the photos) 7) The TV (satellite connection) was dreadful, the picture “snowed” in and out of picture so frequently I was unable to watch it at all, so in the end I watched my phone. 8) I had the chicken fajitas in the bar area for dinner which were truly awful, in the fact they sat in a full ladle of oil and thus too oily to eat. (see the photo) 9) I really enjoyed the pool which was clean, warm and quite empty. 10) Breakfast is an additional cost (cheaper if booked in advance or breakfast voucher purchased at check in). The quality of the breakfast on par with other Holiday Inn’s; catering from the full English option to fresh fruit salad and yoghurts, sliced cold cuts and cheese & pastries, 11) Check out, was straight forward and hassle free with the clerk Mitaco In summary, the hotel scores 6.5/10 for an ok-ish Holiday Inn branded hotel lacking TV signal, good food with a relative high price tag considering it’s location. We stopped at the Holiday inn for a night for a works party, the room was comfy and clean, we got a good nights sleep, all the staff we helpful, we had a great night at the party, prices were very reasonable and we got breakfast as well, just one slight issue, the sausages served at breakfast were very very under cooked, the joke about a vet reviving them came to mind, other than that the food okay, we would stay again. I stayed here for three nights with Work. I have stayed in numerous hotels in this price bracket recently for work and think that this was possibly the best. Much better than Premier Inn and other Holiday inns and Hilton’s. The room was clean and a good size and breakfast was good. I had room service one night which was very good and reasonably priced. Very central I would recommend. I didn’t use the gym or pool but one of my colleagues said it was good. Collapse
