This hotel is in such a poor state it should be condemned. Hopefully the pictures will be self explanatory. The staff have a care free attitude The Management of this hotel can't have any care or control in the environment they pride themselves in, they should be ASHAMED. We had booked an executive room (very expensive too) was told it was the best room and wouldn't be disappointed?.... how wrong they were. I'm glad of one thing, that we had this room, hate the thought of having one of the other rooms!! The taps weren't fixed on the bath and bidet. The bath tap leaked and tap dripped constantly. The shower was so small... a phone booth size. The bath taps just spun in which ever direction of choice. Blinds broken, moth ridden curtains. Picture hanging screwed straight though the frame? Radiator removed... Guess they couldn't be bothered to remove the fittings.... Dirt and cobwebs every where with the addition of used teaspoons.... Maybe the cleaners were on holiday too, in a nicer hotel? I felt I'd booked a very poor B&B This hotel has the possibility of being a nice hotel one day... May be under a new owner. Collapse

Stayed here in October, then returned in December for Christmas shopping. Large Victorian hotel with plenty of character. Stayed in an executive room on both occasions. Lovely large comfortable rooms, tea, coffee and biscuits provided as well as toiletries and bath robes. Large comfy bed, modern bathroom and a fridge. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close enough to walk into the city centre in about 15 minutes. Tasty breakfast, with lots to choose from; full English, pastries, cereals, fruits and cheeses. Collapse

Our company held its staff party here on Friday past. We dealt with lovely and very efficient Jessica for the booking & food selection. Nothing was too much trouble for this girl. Upon arrival we had three tables of eight in the Ballroom. Wines were all chilling on the table. Dinner served promptly at 7.45 pm five course meal which was top class. None of us had a bad meal. Lovely warm meats & Vegs even dinner plates were warmed. I opened a tab at bar for the team which was simple enough to set up. The only big spoiler of the evening was down to no bar in the Ballroom suite. Guests have to leave the function room and buy drinks at the main bar which meant atmosphere was lacking at times with few people at the tables/dancefloor. Perhaps waiter/waitress service for the evening would have helped make it a wonderful night. Next year we will choose a venue with bar within function room. Collapse

Stayed here for two night in one of the refurbished rooms and it was perfect. Large comfy bed and spotlessly clean, first class. Very friendly helpful staff so no complaints I would definetly recommend.

We stayed here whilst flat-hunting in Sheffield two months ago, and as a fairly common hotel chain it is exactly what one would expect from any Holiday Inn, Travelodge, or Premier Inn. Rooms are costly, but staff are friendly. The whole building is mass produced to lack any kind of non-commercialised character, though at least you can count on it being clean. The room was bland, comfortable, and suited our needs despite being far more expensive than it should have been for what we received. The location is not bad for the train station or Kelham Island area, but for the more bustling areas of the city centre it is quite a long walk to any commodities. The breakfast really lets the chain down; they seem to have changed the selection from what it used to contain. As one would expect, the orange juice cups are oversized shot glasses and it is difficult to get a reasonable amount of drink to take back to your table in one trip to the machine. The juice was slightly gelatinous in texture, but probably the best part of the buffet overall. There was no bacon (what?!), the scrambled eggs were bad, and the sausages were worse. There was something about it that reminded me somewhat of a crossbreed between an aeroplane breakfast and the empty calories of Wetherspoons food. I had a yoghurt instead and left hungry, glad that I was not the one paying for the overpriced average hotel chain experience. Collapse
