We stayed here the night before and the night of my daughter's wedding. The hotel looked like it had been recently renovated. Friendly check in, very nice room (standard size) with walk in shower with great water pressure. We were at the end of the corridor so very quiet. The restaurant served a restricted menu, but it was well cooked with a very pleasant rose wine. Breakfast was self service, it offered cooked and cold fare. The hot food was well cooked, This hotel is in a strange place, but if it is where you want to be, it is recommended. Collapse

We were attending a wedding at nearby Aldermaston, which made this an ideal place to stay. The room was big, clean and modern, lovely bathroom with a bath! And the aircon was much appreciated in this hot weather. Most importantly of all, the bed was divine and we slept so well. Maggie on reception was so helpful and helped us organise a late check out which was much appreciated! Breakfast was cooked to order, rather than a buffet, but came out promptly and was delicious. I arrived here, late, after a long drive south and was warmly welcomed. The air-con in my room was very much welcomed during the heatwave at the time. The room was in good order, clean, seemingly recently decorated and refurbished, and provided a very good night's sleep. At breakfast, I was the only person in the dining room, with breakfast cooked to order, as a result. Service was excellent from all staff throughout my stay. I was sad to be staying here only for one night and in another hotel for the following three nights, as I had a lovely stay here. If in the area again, I would have no problem with staying here again. Collapse
Pre wedding stay - pulled out all the stops!

I could not be happier with our stay! I booked 5 rooms for my bridal party, and had advised several of my guests travelling down the night before our big day, that we intended to have some chilled meet & greet drinks at the Holiday Inn bar, which meant that several of our guests also booked rooms here for the night before. I booked all our rooms several months in advance, initially starting with my room, and then calling the central booking line to add a further 4 rooms to my booking. This was excellent as it meant that I could hold all the rooms on my card, but still specify primary guest names for each room to simplify check-in. I got a call from the hotel 24hrs before check-in to confirm my reservation, and on arrival my check-in was smooth, fast and efficient. The staff even pre-booked a cab for me, for the following morning. I was first to arrive, so reconfirmed the guest names and everyone's check-in was seamless. The rooms were lovely, good size, nicely decorated and above all else had the best sound insulation imaginable (my reason for noting this will become clear later)! Furthermore, the reservation team made sure all our rooms were close to each other, which meant all in all, they were perfect for our needs. After dropping our bags off in the room, I went to the bar and enjoyed a drink in the garden - a really nice thing to have given the hotel's location. Our group size continued to swell and the bar staff coped fantastically. They were friendly and helpful, and the previously mentioned sound insulation meant that we could chat, and laugh without disturbing any of the guests whose rooms overlooked the garden. We were advised on check-in that there was a conference at the hotel so to try and have dinner before 7.30 to avoid delays. I hadn't planned on a large group for dinner but we ended up with a group of between 20-25 of us for dinner. The restaurant staff were quite amazing! We sat down for dinner at 6.30 but given the unexpected size of our group, this would have been overwhelming for any hotel restaurant. Service was slow, BUT I firmly believe that this was much more to do with how many we were, rather than any reflection on the staff/kitchen. Everyone got their food and enjoyed their meals. We settled up the dinner bill, and after which a subset of us (approx 15ish) moved to the bar to continue our pre-wedding evening. The drinks were flowing and the bar staff continued to serve us with a smile. The evening was in full swing, everyone was having a great time, and there was no fear of disturbing other guests. When it came time for the bar to close, it was sad faces all round, but the Bar Manager advised us that we could continue drinking, but because they needed to cash up, we could order further drinks from reception. Drinks continued on until around 2am. The following morning, Sunday, breakfast is a self service buffet. Our party tucked in to a full English (fried or scrambled eggs), with the extra options of cereals, fruit, toast, yogurt, boiled eggs and cold meat and cheese. A selection of tea, coffee, fruit juices and water were available and regularly refreshed. All in all, I cannot thank the staff here enough for an absolutely fantastic stay. Their staff were friendly, polite, helpful and made our stay completely stress free. Collapse

I had booked a number of rooms for my guests to stay after my wedding day. Our first indication that things were not good was when I called to check how many rooms had been booked and the hotel had completely missed off my bridesmaid's booking. Our guests had checked while checking in whether the bar would be open when we all came back after the wedding and were all told yes. My husband and I arrived at the hotel after our perfect wedding day along with a handful of our guests and were met ( I cant say greeted) by the rudest man I have ever met. He did not welcome us, he simply started to flap that 4 people were checking in, when I asked if we were able to have a drink he said no and that he was not advised by the hotel that there were people staying after the wedding ( such a strange response when we had clearly booked a group of rooms, and even then we were paying guests regardless!) He was aggressive, rude and argumentative and put an absolute dampener on what was the best day of our lives. I have given the hotel 1 mark purely on the room, we stayed in a family room and it was absolutely fantastic but sadly this one individual is the only memory we will have from this hotel Collapse
