My partner and I have just stayed here for 2 nights along with a party of 41 others on a National Holidays break to Cheltenham. To say our stay here was a disappointment would be an understatement , The room we stayed in was clean and tidy although there was a smell of damp and we later discovered the bed was broken. The food ( Buffet style , although only 2 choices none of which were vegetarian) was bland and can only be described as slop. On the second night the food ran out before some of (ourselves included) our party had had the chance to eat . When the staff were asked when more food would be served we were told that was it. The member of staff was disinterested , rude and kept shrugging his shoulders. I then asked the lady at reception what would be done about the fact that there was at least 7 of us that had not yet eaten. She was equally as rude and showed not much interest but did eventually go speak to the cook ( not a chef by any means) . Upon her return she told us they would make us some food , no details of what or how long we would wait , nothing. around 40 minutes later a plate of dry chicken and some reheated chips were plonked in the serving area with no offer of some sort of sauce or condiment. Oh inbetween speaking to the receptionist and actually getting the dry as a bone disgusting food we were given 2 bags of crisps by a member of staff as a replacement meal . The room itself was quite modern but the rest of hotel is shabby and in need of an update. The staff are rude and certainly not made for customer service. The breakfast was acceptable and a few choices were available , but yet again the morning staff seemed to not want to be there and seemed to try and avoid any interaction with the guests. But the biggest issue we had would have been the fact that while we were out for the day at the races somebody I am assuming the cleaner decided to have a try of my makeup , I had treated myself to a nice new eyeshadow pallet , which I opened that day and used 3 different colours . To come back and find that a further 3 had been smudged all over the place and not only that but the cheeky so and so had used a cotton bud out of my make up bag ( which I do not use for eyeshadow) to use said eyeshadows and left it on the side with the evidence of colours on it . Not only is that so unhygienic and disgusting it is theft! I can only liken our stay here to a stay at faulty towers. I would never go back here and I would never recommend to anybody . Avoid at all costs unless that is you like rubbish food served by rude and unfriendly staff and not made to feel like a guest. Collapse
Unprofessional and disorganised

After visiting for a business conference I have no positives except the quality of the two ladies serving breakfast and lunch, and one of the women on reception. The bar staff did not seem suited to their roles and didn’t seem particularly enthused to be there. Breakfast & lunch food was lovely but dinner was average at best. There was no working heating in the hotel which we were not notified of or apologised to for. Collapse
The worst Holiday Inn I’ve ever stayed in

This stay was for a conference and a 2 night stay. It seems the heating had broken down but nobody thought to mention it or provide additional portable heaters (until I complained) or apologise. The people who served us in the restaurant weren’t dedicated restaurant staff and they demanded we order at least 30 minutes before we sat down. The food was adequate but no more. We were told the hotel was full and yet we were virtually the only ones in the restaurant, that says a lot. On the plus side the rooms were fine with the proviso that the heating had broken down and there was a portable heater although a lot of my colleagues were still too cold. The person who checked me in and the ladies who supervised breakfast and lunch were very good but the rest of the staff were of a very low standard and poorly trained. The conference catering was very well organised and punctual which was a real plus but overall we were all very disappointed and left with a very negative view of the hotel. Personally I think we should have been offered a discount but it is clearly run by an incompetent person who doesn’t care about customer satisfaction. Collapse

My colleague and I picked this hotel for our 3 day business trip. Location is superb. The hotel itself looks very pleasant and welcoming and very Christmassy Room itself very cosy too. There were however few things that they could improve on. First of all is their breakfast selection .... very very poor! We do travel a lot up and down the Country and this was probably the worst selection we have had in a while. First of all they should not dish out their coco pops in the evening ready for the next day whilst the guests are still enjoying their evening glass of wine in the restaurant. I used to work in chain hotels myself many moons ago and that would have been unacceptable! Second of all they should have what they offer in their menu or advice their guests in advance that certain things are not available. For example menu advertises nuts and seeds. When I asked the waitress where I can find nuts and seeds she replied they have dried bananas and raisins ..... ok that’s a dried fruit. So back to the question “where can I find nuts and seeds?” Waitress went to ask the Chef, she came back with few flaked almonds and said they haven’t got any seeds. Brilliant! Staying on the breakfast subject one of the waitresses a young girl in blue/pink hair was so “happy” to be there I actually thought she was on community service! I overheard one gentlemen asking her for butter to which she pointed out towards margarine direction and said to him butter is over there. The gent replied no it is not and asked for some butter. She went over to that very same table and grabbed some margarine and put it on his table the cheek! This evening we went to the bar to get some coffee. I ordered iced coffee and I was told they don’t sale it even though it’s on the board. The person who was serving us Dylan said they do not stock it as no one buys it and I was the first person to ask for it in the last 6 months. The reason why it’s on the board is because he cannot take it down False advertisement springs to mind! He did give us 2 coffees free of charge to compensate for it. Other thing was a hoover left by housekeeping right in front of the entrance door as you walk upstairs to your room. Health and safety training might be an answer! On a positive note there was very helpful young lady called Liga who served us in the evening. She was ever so nice, friendly and helpful. She managed to get us pistachio Sunday that had just been removed from the menu the day before! Not sure why they are the best! That was divine! Cheers Liga Collapse
