This weekend was bought as a Red Letter Days experience for me. When booking I was extremely nervous about going. This was due to being passed from pillar to post by several different people. When I first called the person answering the phone couldn't contain his laughter and was to be honest in professional. However, I managed to book everything in. My experience included two 25 mins treatments in the spa, dinner in the hotel, a bottle of prosecco and breakfast the following morning. On arrival there was a queue for the front desks. The queue system was unclear. I believe they need some sort of indication and system in place to make it clear. With two desks and one queue you may find yourself cutting in front of someone by mistake. Checking in was easy. The man at the front desk called Andre. C was very lovely. Although, after asking about how good the restaurant was in the hotel, he informed us staff were not allowed to dine there! I feel like to know what your selling/ providing to customers you should at least try it all out! Especially as I believe he was part of management. Still he gave us our room key and general information. The parking is free for people staying at the hotel from check in until check out. Afterwards you have to pay. We had a room on the 3rd floor. (325) It was very clean and tidy. No view but you can not expect much as you are on an industrial estate off the M4. It really did not matter. The tea and coffee facilities were lovely, only one pack of cookies though for two people. I am a firm believer of the little details. Especially for a four star hotel. The bathroom was spotless, the shower very lovely! More shampoo and body wash needed. Just to pre warn you the hairdryer is bad, bring your own. You have to hold a button while blow drying and the power is rubbish. TV was a flat screen Phillips. Not smart tv but acceptable because so many TV channels were on offer. Very much enjoyed a few episodes of QI. Bed a pillows were very comfy and cosy. There was no radiator in the room. This was problematic to drying our swimming costumes and towels. In the fridge we had a lovely bottle of De Luca prosecco. A really great choice on the hotels part, I really loved the taste. There was no (bottled) water available, apart from the tap. Wish the hotel would supply some bottled water in the fridge. It sounds like I am moaning a lot - I don't mean to, I just like little details and think they are important, staying in quite a few hotels in my life time I believe there is a certain standard to each star of hotel. It is a great hotel do not get me wrong! Do stay because you will enjoy it! Anyway carrying on. We had a facial and a back massage booked. I can tell you it is worth having a treatment! IT WAS FANTASTIC. We were both so relaxed. We even were able to have our treatments in the same room as a couple, this was a lovely touch. The only thing I would say is the room we had our treatments in, was next to the pool area. The pool area was very loud at the time as I believe a hen do or some kind of girls holiday was taking place and there were also kids making noise. This meant it was not as quiet as could be. But the calming music was turned up and the door did muffle some noise. Eventually you just drown it out as you are so relaxed. The pool area is small when busy. But I imagine a lovely place to sit for a few hours when quieter. The sauna and steam room were lovely! Again a little small, but no bother really. Montys Restaurant had two menus, offering two separate cusines. Both are fine dining, but one has an Indian vibe and the other more British. Together we had two courses each. Mushroom soup was the 'soup of the day', it was divine, I recommend, as I do for all the courses we had. Then for main we chose the sea bass and the fish coconut curry. The sea bass was very good, cooked very well. The curry was spicy (if you do not like heat do not have it) but very very tasty. I enjoy a little spice so it was okay for me. Then we shared a fruit crumble. My my was it amazing. Compliments to the chef(s), thank you very much for our meals. Finally Breakfast and check out. Breakfast had a good selection. We went down about 9ish to make sure we didn't get the last dregs of breakfast and to ensure it was not to busy. This was a good choice. Food wise you have a selection of hot options (the sausages they supply are lovely), you have fruit, cheeses, ham, bread and pastry selections as well as breakfast cereal. It was a good spread and we enjoyed breakfast. Tea, coffee and juices are available as part of this. We checked out just before 11. It was nice to see they didn't try and charge us for things. I find that in hotels you can sometimes find yourself facing charges for things you didn't know you were going to be charged for. This was pleasant and we exited the hotel parking ending our stay. I hope this review helps, I understand it holds a lot of information, but I am a firm believer in too much info is better than to little. I would stay again, if it weren't for my dislike of reading in general. You never know I may visit again at which point I would be happy knowing that this is a good place. Collapse

We stayed at this hotel after a trip to Legoland and were two families of four (both with children aged 8 and under). The hotel is very clean and modern and very handy having an underground car park. However, I don’t feel it is suited to families of more than one child as the family room consists of a double bed and a single sofa bed. The hotel will insist this is a double but you can’t even fit two pillows side by side on it. Apparently this is made very clear on the website at the time of booking (how we all missed it I don’t know) but it spoilt our stay as we spent over an hour trying to talk to someone about moving to a bigger room and we all slept badly as we had to squeeze three of us into the main double. All the staff were friendly and sympathetic but ultimately refused to do anything about it other than offer us to pay to buy an additional room. Aside from that the rooms were nicely furnished although two of our lamps didn’t work and we had someone else’s rubbish left in our bathroom. However, having spent an hour talking to staff about the bed situation with no joy I didn’t fancy raising these issues again. I would recommend as a break for couples, friends or singles but not for families. Collapse

Step off the conveyor belt that is Britains road network, and head for a little snapshot of calm. We took a one night stay, thanks to a Virgin Spa Day voucher, and were so impressed , I think it wont be long before we go back again. Clean bedrooms , polite and helpful staff, fine dinning (at Pub prices) ...then to top it all The Esprit Spa ....Pool, Gym , Sauna, Steam Room plus massage/beauty therapies ...what more can you ask for. We lounged by the pool like a couple of holiday makers! - bliss. There's secure underground parking and its only a couple of miles off the M4 ....Just pop RG41 5TS into your sat nav and let your car take you for a well earned break! Collapse
