Good modern hotel well fitted out and in good condition - although located on edge of a business park. Probably best inclusive dinner that we have had. Service excellent without being overly attentive. See more

This was are first time staying at this hotel we have stayed at other hotels within the chain around the UK. First impressions the outside looks a little dated but don't let this put you off inside it's very nice. We stayed in an executive double room for two nights, The room was spacious and clean. With a very comfortable bed, flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities etc. The bathroom was nice a little on the small side for two people at the same time but we managed. Shower was of good pressure with constant hot water. Now on the second evening of our stay we tried the in house restaurant and it was fantastic. The waiter was very friendly & professional we could have been in a michelin star restaurant with the quality of service we received. We ordered a bottle of the Impravito prosseco which was opened and served to us and was continually served as and when required. As for the food my wife ordered the 8oz serlion & I had the 10oz rib eye steak. Both meals came with chunky chips, mushrooms & grilled tomato. Now the chef is a genius as both steaks were cooked to perfection with just a hint of blush pink in the middle you could have cut it with a butter knife and the rest of the meal was of the same top quality. We then had desert one salted caramel cheesecake & one apple and cinnamon crumble both were sublime. An all round wonderful experience thanks to all the hotel staff during our stay. Can't wait until the next trip. Would highly recommend. Collapse

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Reading hotel - M4 as a family (2 adults + 2 children aged 3 and 8) between the 11-13th of February 2017. Up until the last day of our stay, we had a very pleasant experience and the hotel staff seemed friendly and accommodating to our needs. Our children also thoroughly enjoyed using the hotel's excellent SPA facilities. A few ours prior to our check-out time, I decided to leave my husband in the room to finish packing while I took my children down to the reception area to cool down as our room felt very stuffy and hot. My 8-year-old daughter wanted to do some drawing so she went on to sit at a lower table next to where I was sitting. Meanwhile, my 3-year-old son followed her and was occupying himself by walking around the table. Unfortunately, this is when he accidentally tripped over a cable of one of the pendant lamps which resulted in him falling and dragging the lamp with him. As I saw him falling, I ran up to help him and managed to grab the lamp by the middle before it hit my son or the ground. Given the heavy exterior of the lamp, I was worried that if it hit had fallen onto him he could have been hurt. As the lamp fell it must have hit the other side of the wooden table which damaged the plastic area of the lamp. Moments later, a staff member came running to me claiming that they saw via the CCTV footage my son deliberately pushing the pendant lamp. I tried to explain to them what had happened, emphasizing that this was an unfortunate incident caused by my son by accident, contrary to their belief. I added that if anything, the heavy nature of the pendant lamp was a hazard in itself and that my son was lucky to not have been severely hurt as a result of it falling onto him. This is when another female member of the staff (a manager or a site solicitor) came towards us and started shouting that the lack of supervision from us is what caused the child to break an expensive £400 designer pendant lamp, requiring us to pay for it. Her tone and behavior were an awful portrayal of the hotel and its brand and I was extremely shocked by the lack of empathy given that she even failed to ask how my little son was doing and whether he was hurt.Instead, she resorted to shouting at us, claiming that over the past five years no one has ever touched the pendant lamp while also blaming my son to have acted indecently. She even went ahead as far as to threaten to call the police, while insisting that we will still have to pay for the damages. It probably does not come as a shock that we left the hotel feeling astonished by such low standards of service, especially since the hotel claims to treat its guests with the utmost respect and hospitality. We will never go back there after being treated like a bunch of criminals. Sad... Collapse

My mum and I booked in here for 2 nights for my birthday and I must say we have had a fantastic time. The treatments were fab, the pool area and facilities are so relaxing and spacious etc. Our room was stylish and spacious, the staff were extremely friendly and smiling all the time. The staff took it upon themselves to sing happy Birthday to me at dinner and bought out a desert following an earlier conversation where we said we were here for my birthday. Just all round fantastic hotel, recommend to anyone. We can't fault it. The only thing I will say is parking is first come first serve and we only realised after we went out and came back around 10pm and couldn't get a space. The hotel staff were accommodating and told us we could park in the reserved space so think twice before leaving the hotel once you have a space. Collapse
