The hotel night staff inexplicably felt they had to call my room at 6:55 to check my choice of newspaper! Some hotel chains guarantee a good nights sleep - not this one. It might not seem like a big deal but when you're travelling on business, away from home and your family an unexpected call to your hotel room can be alarming - particularly when you're asleep. After an investigation that took four days to conclude all I got was an apology.... Collapse

I really do hope my review does this place justice, because quite frankly, words fail me. We had the most incredible experience from the word go. My friends and I chose this Holiday Inn for a weekend spa break in November and we were not disappointed. The receptionist greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel very welcome. We headed to our rooms, and again, were rather impressed with the high standards. Everything was immaculate, the room and the bathroom were spotless and pristine; there was not a thing we could fault. Our experience only got better and better. We spent some time by the pool before heading to their restaurant for dinner. You are allowed to take your own alcohol to the pool side which is an added bonus. I think the restaurant and its staff deserve a separate review altogether. The food and the service was extraordinary. I highly, highly recommend their Indian menu. And they save the best for the last. Their desserts are remarkable. The next morning we headed to the breakfast buffet before our treatments. The spread was pretty good with all the usual one would expect. The staff were extremely friendly and cordial and nothing was too much trouble. The spa treatment was a perfect end to our weekend break. I will recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat. It ticked all the boxes for us and the affable, hospitable staff made our stay one to remember. Collapse

Perfect businesshotel. Clean modern rooms and bathrooms. Good gym allthough not big. Good beds. It's a businesslocation which means there is no entertainment in the neighbourhood. Good restaurant. Good meetingrooms.

Visited the hotel today with a friend for a spa package day with three course lunch. Met(I would say greeted, but that was not the case) at spa reception by a very unsmiling member of staff. Asked if it was possible to book any treatments at a late stage to be told there was only an hour slot free at 2pm and as our lunch was booked for 1pm there would not be enough time. We agreed with this and asked if we could perhaps change our lunch time to a little earlier. The response was a straight No. Upon entering the changing rooms we got chatting with another two ladies and explained our situation whereupon they very kindly offered to swap their lunch time with us which was booked for 12.30. We then returned to reception with some trepidation to see whether this arrangement was acceptable. The receptionist then explained that the reason why we couldn't have changed our lunch was because the hotel was very busy with corporate lunch bookings . My friend and myself then booked a half-hour treatment each at 2pm and 2.30pm respectively. My Indian Head Massage with my therapist, whose name I do not know as she did not introduce herself, was a let-down. During the treatment someone slammed an adjoining door to the treatment room, which I suppose then gave me some notice when the door to my treatment room was opened noisily and quickly then slammed shut again when the person realised the room was occupied! Why was the door not locked or fitted with an "in-use" sign?. I'm grateful for the fact that I was suitably covered and not having an intimate wax treatment? The therapist did not apologise for the interruption. At the end of the treatment the therapist asked me if I had a clock. She did not know the time and was not sure if the treatment was over but if I would wait she would check with reception and come back! Sure enough the treatment was over. I wonder how my blissful state of relaxation would have been regained if there was more time to run!? My review today is simply for the poor customer service we received at the Spa. By the way, when entering the restaurant which we were told was so busy we could not change our sit-down time by half an hour, there was only one other solo diner at 12.30. At 1pm the two ladies we swapped with sat down for their lunch and in the following half an hour, one other table with eight people dining arrived. Very busy - not. Myself and my friend are both in the customer service industry and feel very let down by our experience today. Collapse
