Stayed here as it was close to Bowlers as we were going to see the Happy Mondays in concert. The hotel is next to where they film corrie and over the water is United's ground as well as Granada Studio's. The room was ok coffee and tea making available TV and a desk,we were also given free water. The bar was nice not too expensive a pint of stella Cider costing £4.70 which for Manchester wasn't too expensive. My husband and I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times before, the last time being around four years ago. It's always been just the two of us in the past but having noticed that the hotel is pet friendly and the fact that we now rarely leave home without our Bedlington Terrier, we decided to take him with us (£20 charge). On arrival there are notices that mention the £50 pre authorisation charge that is 'held' from your debit / credit card and having stayed in a number of hotels over the years I believe that this is something that they all do these days. We were advised that our dog must not be left in the room on it's own and that of the public areas, he could only go in the bar area on the ground floor - fine by us :) We were in a room on the 10th floor and we loved the floor to ceiling view over Manchester, although the weather was a little grey so the view kept on disappearing! The rooms are very modern and comfortable with a bed, desk with chair and an armchair where you could sit and look out over Manchester. The bathroom was also clean and modern with the usual toiletries and a notice saying that most things could be supplied if you had forgotten them. There is a bath with shower over and I took my first bath in a long time (I'm more of a shower person :)) as it was so quiet and inviting. We had paid for breakfast as part of our package so on Sunday morning we asked at reception if there was anywhere we could eat where the dog was allowed as he could not be left in the room. A very friendly face said that we could sit in the bar to eat which meant going upstairs to the buffet breakfast and bringing the food and drinks back downstairs (breakfast is served in the restaurant on the first floor). For us, this is where one of the staff really stood out. My husband reliably informs me that the gentleman who worked behind the bar was called Paul. My husband had been up and brought downstairs a teapot and cups and was up and downstairs again for his breakfast - I did the same for mine. Because we couldn't carry milk aswell, Paul gave us a jug of milk and as I was on my way upstairs to fetch a final coffee, he stopped me on the stairs and said he would provide me one from the bar. I know this might not sound much but sometimes the small things count. He could see our issues and alleviated them. For us this hotel is in a great place, it's clean, modern and very accomodating and we cannot wait to return (with terrier:)) Collapse

First impression of the hotel was good and staff were friendly. Room was really nice although up on the 16th floor struggled to get on the WIFI! Went to bed and woke up covered in bites on my neck from the side I was sleeping. When reported he filled out a form but refrained from stating the obvious bites by saying red mark, I had to change myself. I've since had to chase for response to be basically called a liar by the hotel manager even though I have witnesses! Breakfast was lovely but watch out for parking as we went 10 mins over 24 hours and tried to charge us £17 fee. Supposed to stay in September but will book premier inn over the the road! At least you get refund if don't sleep well! Collapse

Stayed Saturday night as we were in MCR for a gig at the MEN but city centre hotel prices were a joke! Pleasantly surprised by the stay at the hotel. Room was well decorated, comfy, clean and spacious enough for two to get ready for an evening out. Buffet style breakfast can't be faulted either. One moan. Couldn't order from the bar without having both my room key and the little cardboard slip with the room number on (the one you get at check in and promptly throw in the bin). Who carries that around??!!! Purchases had to be charged to the room; cash not accepted. Seems a really weird system and is definitely an inconvenience but it probably wouldn't stop me staying again. Easy to reach by road and good access to/from city centre by tram. Only a £10 taxi from the city centre if the trams aren't running for any reason. Parking £8.50 if you park in the multi-storey and take your car park ticket to reception before returning to the car park. Collapse
