My partner stayed here as part of A British Airways city break deal. Very good value for money and we didn't expect too much so were not surprised when this hotel was a little way from the centre. However, it was just next to the Metro and commuter train station so travelling into the sights was easy. We were advised to get a three day travel card which works on all transport for €18.60. This also allowed us to travel on the direct train from the hotel to the airport so no need for expensive taxi. The hotel was the usual Holiday Inn - clean with not especially exciting decor but couldn't find anything wrong! The man on reception, Chema, was very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. We found a little cafe a few minutes away, Montepinos, which was excellent for breakfast and had a deli at the back. Collapse

I stayed with my husband and baby girl in this hotel in 2 different rooms. They were similar but the second was a bit bigger upon my request. The hotel is not in downtown but very close. And the Piramides metro station elevator is just outside the hotel. Which makes transfers very easy to/from airport and downtown. There is access to railway from that station too. The room was convenient. Nothing special about decoration. There was an issue with the heater in the bathroom of the first room . We couldn’t shut it. The room was really hot. In the second room, heater was off already and temperature was modifiable with AC. The WiFi is available. They gave us passcode at reception to register. But the speed was not good. Also, getting a room on higher floor would be great, because of the sounds of the people in the streets. Collapse

The room was spacious as there was a large closet and table space for luggage. The bathroom had adequate vanity space. It was 45deg F outside and super stuffy inside. The window would only open a little bit and no air conditioning available in winter. WiFi was OK sometimes and then others it didn't work at all. Front desk staff was very friendly. Enjoyed the wine at the bar. Also the cleaning staff was good and put fresh towels, soap, etc every day. Bed was comfortable and had good pillows. Glad that there was an extra blanket in the closet. Water pressure in the shower was great. Collapse

The good points are the reasonable location (right next to Piramides Metro and Renfe stations) and the friendly and helpful front desk and bar staff. Rooms are OK. Standard Holiday Inn fare. However, this hotel has a few shortcomings. They have a ridiculous policy that you are not allowed to have the air con on in 'winter' (or the heating in 'summer'). We travelled at the end of Feb and the weather was quite mild (18C on way day). The room was stifling but we could not put the air con on! The hairdryers are hopeless. They overheat after a few seconds and you have to wait minutes to be able to use again. The room cleaning/service is poor. To be more precise they do not restock items. The lack of fresh tea bags and shampoo is annoying the lack of fresh toilet roll is appalling. The lifts are small and slow and there is no alternative stair access. Collapse

I visited the hotel from 12th-14th February 2018 with my sister as we were in Madrid for a few days on a city break. First of all, in terms of location, I booked this hotel as when reading reviews, it was said to be located in the city centre however this is not the case. To get to any of the attractions in Madrid or even the main town, a journey on the Metro Underground is needed. Luckily, the station is outside the hotels front door and a single journey is very cheap at only €1.50 so it wasn’t too much of a problem and didn’t bother us too much. I do have to say, there are very few places to eat a decent evening meal near the hotel with everywhere looking closed or having very small menus (we are not that fussy but found finding food near the hotel difficult) so both evenings we got on the train to nearby Opéra where there was a much better choice of restaurants and bars. In terms of the hotel itself, we stayed in room 508 which was very clean, fit for purpose and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and we both slept amazingly both nights. Unfortunately, where our room was located was pretty much opposite the lifts which are very noisy. Lots of people were also talking loudly and slamming doors early in the morning and late at night which was disturbing at times but I appreciate this can’t be controlled by the hotel directly. The only other negative I have with the room we stayed in was that the thermostat appeared to be broken, when I put it on to air conditioning the room did not cool down. Even with the window open the room was very hot at all times but I think this was due to the extremely hot radiator in the bathroom that I couldn’t turn down! On a more positive note, the staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful. They tried their best to help even when there was a language barrier and we were given a map and good advice when we asked about transport links into town. On departure day they kindly stored our luggage for us to enable us to enjoy our last day in the city without carrying it around and they also called us a taxi to get to the airport which has a special hotel rate of €30 which I thought was very reasonable. Overall, not a bad hotel and an enjoyable stay. Collapse
