We stayed at the Kensington Close Hotel which is in a reasonable central location. The hotel is lovely and the staff are abundant and very willing to help which was excellent. The lounges and restaurants on the ground floor are very comfortable and sumptuous. We took this deal as a SuperBreak deal, which was excellent value for money, but our room reflected this. The standard of cleanliness did follow through from the rest of the hotel, but I think that our room was probably the linen cupboard before the hotel was refurbished. It was so tiny and my husband is an ex-prop rugby player. I could not get past him in the room. If you get what you pay for, we did get good value for money, but the room size was disappointing. The rest of the hotel was very good. Collapse

First look it is lovely and modern. Went to check in and got offered if would like two single beds or 1 king. Went for the king as its more comfortable to have a larger bed even when sharing with a friend. What came to surprise is the lady then referred my bestie as my partner? I wouldn't think they should be able to assume something like that? Anyways luckily was able to laugh it off later but if that was to someone that finds tho vs like that sensitive I would think you need to be abit more conscious of how they address people. Room and bathroom was clean. They had a small cake and birthday card hand written by the staff for my birthday which was a really sweet guesture, thank you! My friend had needed a bathrobe and I also would like one so we called reception then house keeping and neither did answer. Got through to reception and the lady did say call house keeping again. Got through and said they will get this to us asap. Waited 10mins and still no sign, rang again and they apoligied for taking long and it will be with us soon. Waited an extra 20mins and we rang again, this time being told we shouldn't have them as they don't come in these rooms and they are working very hard and have not got the time. Asked is it still possible to have them and he said yes they will come. When the door knocked there was only one robe as they didnt have anymore but gave us an extra big towel instead of another robe. I understand that if this room does not provide the robes originally, but if it's going to be a problem they should of just said no to start with. Bed was comfty and had a small heater which really warmed up well. The tv would sometimes freeze when selecting channels. Shower was good and plenty of tissue. Overall I feel it would of got a higher rating if it wasn't for the small let downs but it was a good reasonable price so still gets a thumbs up. Collapse

What to say about a Holiday Inn? Not much that hasn’t already been said, really. The rooms are the standard hotel layout, only smaller. There’s about an inch between the end of the bed and the bathroom door, so toes may get stubbed. Bathroom was narrow (larger guests might struggle a bit) but the shower pretty good. The hotel bar is nice for a drink or two, but expensive at £6 for a Corona. (Better to go up the road to Elephant & Castle or the Prince of Wales pubs.) It’s a convenient two-minute walk to High Street Kensington Underground Station, which has some good shops and restaurants. Oh, and there’s a cash machine and Starbucks in the lobby. And that’s about it. Gripping review, no? Collapse

Make no mistake, this is still a Holiday Inn despite it's location and it's fancy entrance. Booked a spa weekend getaway here for me and my partner. I take full responsibility for buying into the marketing for this place that made it look like an upscale 4* hotel. It was basic at best. The campus rooms and bathroom pods we had when I was in university were much bigger than the "King Standard" room they put us in. Seriously, you can barely move in there, the room is that tiny. At least it was very clean. The drain in the bathtub bubbled up with dirty water when the person in the room next door took a shower - not very pleasant. Breakfast was bog-standard. Don't expect anything special here, just you basic full english buffet options. The staff were friendly enough and the dining environment was clean. Finally the "Spa" - which is just a pool, some deckchairs, a grotty and tiny hot tub, a small steam room and an even smaller sauna. The staff here were extremely rude and unhelpful. Our spa experience was shared with a kids swimming group, and came with just a towel. No robes, no slippers, no frills! You'd get more from a visit to your local leisure centre, and pay less! To summarise - I'm glad the weekend included a lot of activities that took us out of the hotel so that it didn't become the main focal point of our trip. I will not be staying here again. Collapse

Rooms are what you’d expect from them. Not overly luxurious but with all comforts provided. Beds were comfortable. During the stay there were some noises from other rooms but in general it wasn’t ever a nuisance. The hotel has ample facilities. Breakfast is very complete and well served. We enjoyed our stay here thoroughly and will be sure come back if we ever decide to visit London again. Collapse

We chose this location because of it's proximity to Hyde Park (about half a mile) and the tube (about 3 blocks). The hotel is set back from the main street, which makes it fairly quiet from traffic. We had an upgraded room due to being a rewards member, so our room was nicer than we anticipated. It had an American-sized bathroom with a sink/toilet/tub/shower. There was a nice sized television with two chairs and table seating area. The standard work desk with chair was there as well, with a small refrigerator. There is a safe within the closet. The one issue we had with the room, and it was the only one, was the lack of towels. They ask you to leave towels in the tub if you want new ones. We never put towels in the tub, but they would take the used towels and not replace them. We had to call on two separate evenings to get more towels. Husband was not pleased with the lack of wash clothes. There is a nice almost Starbucks-type coffee shop in the lobby. Stopped fairly late (10:30 p.m. ish) and was able to get a snack and drinks. There is also an actual restaurant. We had breakfast there and felt it was ok. Nothing exciting. You are probably better off eating up the street, as there are several breakfast options literally up the street. There is a gym/spa on grounds as well. They are not the easiest to find, but if it's something you are seeking out, they are in the basement. The gym has about 8 treadmills, several bikes, and a good array of weight machines/free weights. I cannot speak to the spa. Husband needed to do some email while on the trip and used the business center. Sad it was adequate. During the trip, we left town for one night and asked if they would hold our bags until we returned the next day (we were staying there our last night). We were able to check our bags over night and retrieve them the next day when we returned from our trip. It's a good standard hotel. If you want a reasonably priced hotel with a good location, I would recommend this hotel. Collapse
