My husband booked this for us because we both working through Christmas for a couple of days away . First impression was wow what a nice hotel.Doorman greeting you on way in . Booking in was ok. Went up to room on 6th floor .view only of another hotel but no worries there didn't worry us . Went out for the evening only to come back to a freezing cold room.Checked aircon was working but was blowing out cold air so called up reception to be told switch on and off which we did but still nothing.was told they will fix it from downstairs .So left it at that and went to bed woke up few times because was very cold .In the morning called reception again to be told will send someone up ...they did a man to fix the fridge ..tried to explain it was the aircon he didn't speak much English said he don't understand and went .next thing he arrived with a small heater so thought ok try this so went out and when we came back it was still freezing..reception will sort this out ..no .We just went to bed was shattered after long day out plus was leaving next day .I even had to run the shower in the bathroom for ages to warm the bathroom up to have a shower. So overall was really upset. On the day of leaving had cleaner knock door early in morn ..we were still in bed . Tv didn't work had to call reception again to have the signal but back on. On checking out was asked if everything ok explained no were no happy and what happened and offered us a free coffee for the inconvenience just said no that's fine that's not going to change things so she said because we are members will give us some points ..not sure if she did that because can't find it in my account. I don't normally moan but on this occasion was really upset . Don't think I would like to go again ..bad experience Collapse
Can only say it's a great location.....

Stayed for a couple of nights recently on Groupon deal. Check in was fine, found room - right at end of corridor - this is a big hotel with 700 odd rooms I believe. Room was pretty small but I was expecting this however, the end of the bed was practically touching the mirrored bathroom door so difficult to move around. The bathroom was TINY! The shower was over the bath but both myself and my husband had to bend our knees to fit under it and the way the lighting has been installed, it was very dark at this end of the bathroom too which made shaving for my husband almost impossible. No heated towel rail either, which is a shame. Didn't find the bed comfortable at all - too hard and yes, you can change the pillows but couldn't be bothered. Maids came in following morning to clean but they didn't empty the bin or take away glasses of water we had brought up from the bar in the evening. The bar area is quite large and considering the hotel can hold 1,000 plus guests as well as private function / meeting rooms, to only have one person working behind the bar, serving both those that come to the bar and fulfilling drinks orders from the waiters attending those customers seated at the tables was just ridiculous - the service, as you can imagine, was painfully slow and you could tell the poor bar staff were extremely fed up but managed to remain polite and smile. My biggest gripe though is the lack of staff at breakfast, on both mornings. We walked into the dining room to find that the vast majority of tables were uncleared and stayed that way for the half an hour we were in there. Warning - stay away from the scrambled eggs - they are truly DISGUSTING and when I turned a piece over on my plate, it was grey underneath. I believe the scrambled eggs may not be made from fresh eggs but from powdered egg - REALLY??????? The saving grace was the fresh omelette station which I used the second day but, now have doubts as to whether they were fresh eggs or not as the eggs were ladled from a pre-mixed serving container, not cracked fresh in front of you, but at least it did taste of egg! Too short staffed to explain the layout of the dining room and where you will find different things and those staff that were working just seemed totally fed up - no engagement, no sense of urgency to clear things away and relay etc. Check out was smooth, no problem but we weren't asked if we had enjoyed our stay! Although the location is great for Kensington High Street tube and Olympia (10 minutes walk), we wouldn't stay here again regardless of how cheap it is. Collapse
Disappointing on many fronts

I booked this hotel as a single night stay whilst in London; seeing the 4 star listing, and the facilities it had. Upon arrival, I approached the IHG members desk and the receptionist wouldn't serve me until I proved I was an IHG member. Given I had booked it through the website which uses my IHG membership, one would have thought my booking confirmation would have been enough. Cue me fishing out my phone from my bag, logging into the app just to prove it. Then the receptionist was insistent about taking a deposit of £50 for any sundries. I refused, as hotels have a habit of taking it immediately and then taking weeks to refund it; rather than pre-charging a card as they are supposed to. This prompted discussions with colleagues and a reluctance to check me in. Then I was bombarded with things to buy including breakfast; but wasn't allowed to pay there and then for it - I had to wait to check out; not particularly convenient. Finally given my room keys and told where the lifts were. The room was surprising. Clean and tidy; and reasonably modern; but TINY. The entrance way had a desk and wardrobe either side of it; then the bed was literally in the centre of a room that had no more than 50cm clearance around it. The bathroom was accessed by a sliding door (I thought it was a wardrobe at first), with a short thin bathroom. The water pressure was non-existent, meaning the shower took forever, and had two temperatures - hot and cold (with no happy medium). There was a square fridge of at least 15 years of age stuffed in the baggage area which I switched off after the loud refrigeration noises kept me awake. The sound insulation to the hallway was poor. Despite me placing a Do not disturb notice on the door, I was awoken at 8:30 by housekeeping. I declined and was reawoken at 09:00 by housekeeping again. Considering I didn't have to check out until midday, this was a highly unwelcome intrusion; and felt like the hotel was trying to pressure people to leave. As I exited the room for breakfast I noticed quite a number of rooms with DNDs on the doors, yet had clearly heard housekeeping knocking on practically every door. The breakfast situation was disgraceful. On arrival I was dismissively waved into the restaurant by the two staff who seemed more interested in flirting with each other than in attending customers. I had to interrupt for attention despite being 2m tall and broad - clearly I was invisible. The restaurant was utterly disorganised; with hot food and toast at different sides of the restaurant and drinks almost impossible to locate. The tea and coffee was served from those little thermos jugs you see in meeting rooms; with luke warm mass-produced liquid rather than a proper coffee or tea machine. The food was haphazard; with some containers empty, despite multiple staff stood behind the counter. The restaurant was a disgrace on the cleanliness front. About half the tables had been used and were piled with dirty dishes, and others were in use - with only one large table available which I had to share with another unknown couple just to find somewhere to sit. For the 20 minutes I was there, no-one was clearing and cleaning tables. I attempted to give feedback on exit, but the receptionist either didn't have a good command of business English or was playing dumb to avoid dealing with it - I couldnt' decide. I attempted to pay for my breakfast as per the bill and she informed me that it had already been deducted from the card I paid for the hotel with. No warning, no confirmation. Given that most business travellers like myself book hotels through a referral solution and then charge costs through expenses; their approach seemed completely impractical. For the second time, I appear to have found a hotel which professes to have 4 star credentials, but is in reality a glorified lodge/inn that got everything wrong. Collapse

So two family members and myself had booked into this hotel for two nights for a weekend away for my sisters 21st birthday. We had requested a room with 3 beds as there was 3 of us, yet when we got to the room there was just 2 regardless of us requesting the 3 beds well in advance. The staff at reception did not speak great English and were not the greatest help when it came to my sister being charged TWICE for the upgrade of the room, which we clearly did not get as there should have been 3 beds and not only the 2. The man at the desk said something about them blocking the second payment??The hotel resteraunt staff were a whole other story. We sat and waited 30mins for someone to come over and when they did they spoke no words at all just simply nodded at us to take food orders, not even asking did we want drinks. So we ordered our food and waited 45minutes for it. Out came our pizzas which were £12.50 and were clearly just reheated in the oven and from the supermarket. Not up to standards at all. Impossible to eat, it was awful. We then asked the waiter for a jug of orange juice.. he had no idea what a jug was nor orange juice so barely understood any English which was an issue. The only positives is the location of the hotel as it is close to public transport. But overall this hotel is only getting 1 star from me. Collapse
