Needed a room before a flight to USA from T5. Nice hotel , clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was ok although not much choice for gluten free. My only two is to use the Terminal hopper to access the hotel not a taxi who charge an outrageous £25 for a less than 10 minute journey Collapse

Parking was fairly straightforward and secure as described by previous reviewers. We arrived to a very cheery receptionist who was extremely helpful. We dumped our luggage, had a cuppa (nice coffee/tea facilities in room), and headed downstairs. The local Italian was closed so we stayed in-house for dinner. The restaurant/bar is sparse and clinical. I know many hotels are accused of this, but in this hotel it is more apparent than most. We ordered a couple of drinks- husband ordered a pint. This arrived and he pointed out it looked short (no pint line). Never mind. We then struggled to get attention to order food. A gentleman clearing tables spotted us and said he would tell our allocated server. We ordered....food- chicken skewers to share to start. Tasty and we were offered a sharing plate. Second pint short also. Main course. Fish and chips for him. Small thin fish. Mine - Serrano ham and rocket pizza. I would call it "eighties" pizza- neither deep nor thin. Lots of cheddar. Looked for any meat on arrival- found a little under the cheddar. Ordered some wine- note 500ml carafes offered but they do not have any 500ml carafes so you end up with two 250ml carafes. Kind of defeats the object of sharing and having a carafe? Noticed at this point the ham was most definitely not Serrano... When I finished most of the staff were chatting animatedly. Eventually, the same chap who spotted us earlier came to see us and took my plate. I asked if he would mention to the chef that the ham was not Serrano but Salami....I spotted him talking to the lady whom l think was in charge. I said to my hubby she may come over. This did not happen. We then watched new guests arrive in reception (next to bar/restaurant and queue whilst a receptionist gassed to the restaurant staff. The new guest looked to me and we exchanged a shrug of shoulders... We then asked for the bill. Unfortunately at this point a young lad ran from his seat in the restaurant and towards the loo and vomited all along the way. A hazard stand was brought quickly, but in my view a staff member should have been tasked with stopping guests walk through it back to the restaurant or to their rooms. No prizes for guessing who mopped the mess.... the chap who had spotted us waiting on two occasions! We asked for the bill again and got it this time. I have to say the discretionary 12.5% tip was not spotted by either of us on the menu..... it was on the bill, however. We felt it was not warranted by the staff allocated to serve us and left a lower amount on the tray. We waited, but no-one came, so hubby took it to the counter. As we returned to the room, our phone was ringing before we could even open the door, it stopped, then rang again. Someone keen to speak to us! A call saying we had not left the full tip. My hubby explained why. Really?DISCRETIONARY? I felt this was completely inappropriate. Had someone come to collect the cash and queried what we thought, we would have said. It does not end there..... Our bathroom. As we got ready for bed, water with black flakes bubbled up into our bath from a neighbour. Chances of me showering in this shower / bath combo? Zero.Early flight.... what do you do? Call maintenance and wait and go to bed late defeating the point of getting a reasonable night's kip before the flight? The bed was too hard for both myself and hubby. We booked here because it was the one package I could find offering meet and greet, which we needed as we return to a different terminal. Aside from the bubbling liquid in our bath, I cannot help but feel that had the Italian a one minute walk away had been open, I would have been much happier and not wondering what the poorly young lad ate! We decided to get up early and rang down in the morning to see if a different bathroom was available for showering close by. A few minutes later a very nice gent arrived with a key for a neighbouring bathroom which we showered in. He apologised for inconvenience. This was efficient. 20 minutes later a very upset child was rapping at our door. She was lost. I went out in my bare feet to help and took her back to her Mum downstairs who was having breakfast. Not a hotel issue but gives the title to the review. We were then in a rush, so checked out. Not asked about the stay. Picked up a free Vogue magazine (nice touch) and left. Warning- if you park here and as a passenger try to get out to scan the parking ticket at the exit if the driver cannot easily reach, you will catch the car door on the obscured unnecessarily high curb. All in all- not as relaxing as hoped. The phone call reduces this to two star for me. I think this is a hotel issue as the restaurant staff insisted we give our room number even though we were paying cash. I thought that was strange, but now I know why- so they could ring us. Collapse

We were travelling out to the US the following day and stayed here. This hotel has fantastically friendly and helpful staff. Food is good albeit a fairly limited menu but more than does the job. The rooms are immaculately tidy and clean and with the restaurant downstairs, its perfect for a pre-fight stop over. Cheap enough too! Great value and would not hesitate in staying again. Collapse
