Stopped here due to the convenient location for a night out with friends. The reception and entrance are modern and fresh with comfortable chairs and a bar with Starbucks to hand. The rooms are fairly modern too, clean and quiet so slow for a good nights sleep. The car park underneath is £14 for the night so a bit expensive with breakfast at £12 per head. Having eaten at other HI hotels across the country I have to say the standard of breakfast isn’t as great here with limited options available and the hot plate items not being that hot. Sausages are of poor quality as opposed to other HI’s and the pastries were burnt and cold. Essentially it’s a lack of effort n breakfast which can be rectified easily. Collapse

I booked this hotel some weeks in advance and got quite a good deal by London standards. I arrived at 10:00 for a day of events in London and there was no problem leaving my car in the large car park, but unsurprisingly couldn't check in. That I did on my return at about 02:00, which was doen quickly and efficiently. The room was three floors up and clean and comfortable, although sadly didn't offer a particularly good view of the adjacent canal as there's a lower floor which protrudes to block the view. The shower wasn't the best I've had, as the waterflow seemed to go in waves on hotter then colder water. I had a decent lie-in and opted not to have breakfast. Collapse

Holiday Inn Brenford Lock For the purpose of my review bias, for the last 15 years I have stayed approximately 70-100 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain. Date of stay 18th November 2017, for the England Rugby match My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows: 1) Arrival was straightforward using the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions 2) The underground carpark can get quite busy at times so it’s advisable to arrive early (one of our party actually got blocked in overnight which added an extra hours delay to our departure, which was not technically the hotels fault) 3) On arrival at the hotel the check in clerk Chevonne was pleasant and friendly. As a SPIRE rewards club member, I received access to the free WIFI and choice of a rewards voucher or alternatively if you wish you may choose the option of a free drink at the bar instead. 4) All area’s including the bedrooms were always well kept, tidy and clean. My praise goes to Housekeeping team and especially to Shainaz for the cleanliness of both rooms 5) We had two rooms 315 and 319 which were clean and well maintained, and in keeping with the IHG brand standards. 6) Breakfast is an additional cost (cheaper if booked in advance or breakfast voucher purchased at check in) The quality of the breakfast was better than other Holiday Inn’s; catering from the full English option to fresh fruit salad and yoghurts, sliced cold cuts and cheese & pastries, with fresh artisan bread available, along with freshly cooked items to order, such as poached eggs. Many thanks to the Head Chef and to the lovely serving staff 7) The evening meal, was good and the kids eat free service was excellent. 8) Location, was ideally located for my visit to Twickenham. For information use bus Route 267 which leaves every 10 minutes from just outside the hotel, for a 10 minute journey to the stadium, which drops you off very close to Twickenham (0.5 miles) ( at the Chertsey Road St Margret’s stop). The rerun journey home was just as fast. Check out, was straight forward and hassle free excepting the car being blocked in In summary, the hotel scores 9/10 for a good Holiday Inn branded hotel. I stay at this hotel on a fairly regular basis. The reason for my title review is that I feel as a Spire Elite member of IHG I would usually expect to be upgraded whenever possible to a better bedroom, preferably one with a view over Brentford Lock. While I appreciate this isn't always possible this weekend the hotel appeared fairly quiet. I was given a room on the 4th floor which turned out to be a standard room, which was ok and did have a view over the lock, but I found the double bed was quite small and the room could have been cleaner, also there were dusty cobwebs appearing from the area around the air conditioning unit around the ceiling. The reception area is clean and has a very modern appearance which is nice, the standard bedroom size is ok but no more, but as I have already mentioned the beds could (and should) be bigger. Hopefully in the future the reception staff will appreciate the regular custom of Priority Club members, especially Spire Elite, and provide an upgrade whenever possible. Unfortunately this weekend given the apparent lack of customers I felt I could have been treated to a better room. Note there is a £14 charge for overnight car parking, and again I feel for Spire Elite this could be waived. The evening food here is average, and quite expensive given that it is no more than average, there are restaurants the other side of the lock including an all you can eat Chinese buffet which is much better value.
