Checking inn we had a free upgrade and the staff are very helpful and friendly . I would of given five stars but the rooms are a little dated considering how modern and grand the hotel overall is . The rooms showers are huge and the air con and big tv was great for in the night . The pool situated at the top is a ghost town which was perfect for when we wanted to take a break from sightseeing . When we return to Hong Kong we will definitely be back here Collapse
Excellent value for money

Our first time in Hong Kong but luckily we were visiting with friends who have been here before and recommended the Holiday Inn. Although this is a great location, having now stayed in HK for several days, there are other locations in the city that might be just as convenient depending on what you want to see. This place is in Kowloon, which is not the financial hub but does offer plenty of shopping places and directly across the street is the MRT so very easy to get around. Also the ferry terminal is only 10 minutes walk and we used this several times in our journeys. I highly recommend getting an Octopus card for public transport, it can be topped up at anytime and is extremely easy to get around with. Any left over money on the card can be redeemed. The Holiday Inn is a nice hotel not opulent. The best thing we did when checking in was to accept a special offer to upgrade our rooms using The Executive Club which is a private area only accessible if you pay the $500 per night surcharge. We weren't sure about it but thought if there is breakfast included then you are probably getting a reasonable deal. We were really please we did, as the lounge area is big, comfortable and we got to eat our meals in the relative quiet of the hotel compared to the main dining area. It also provides a private concierge for bookings, free drinks and food from 6-8:00pm. This was the best thing we could have done so highly recommend it. Our room was also upgraded to an Executive King and we had a free mini bar included. The rooms were large, the beds comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. The only disappointing part was the view from our room was of a dilapidated apartment right across the street. The roof top pool is quite nice, and there is a decent size gym if you need it. The service was excellent, so we would definitely stay here again considering the cost was a lot less than other large hotels near the financial district. Collapse

This wasn't our first choice in choosing our hotel in HK but we were glad about the choice. We read that the hotel was old and undergoing renovation so we were apprehensive. However, it was not as bad as some reviews wrote. Location: Major plus. Very convenient and within walking distance to shops, malls and even to buying some of the famous HK products like the Jenny's bakery of Teddy cookies and 恒香老婆饼 was a stone's throw away. Safe to even return late at night after a long day of exploring. Rooms: We were given an upgrade to their newly furnished room on Level 6. It was big, spacious with some nice furnishing but sadly, these rooms did not come with a bathtub. The lightings in the room were a little on the dim side. The beds were a little too soft so the hub woke up the next day with an uncomfortable back. There were pay-demand movies but prices about SGD20. There were just a few basic channels with only 1 Cartoon Network catering to children. Views from the room are mostly street views due to the way it is located in the city. The housekeeper is rather initiative to note that we are a big family so she replenished stocks and more towels without us asking. Wifi in the rooms and within the hotel is strong and doesn't require daily log in. I really like this about my stay. Breakfast: I really like their breakfast spread as there is plenty of good, quality choices of food. There are DIY pancake-making machines, egg and noodle stations just to name a few. My family enjoyed the breakfast everyday. However, expect a queue closer to their closing time and sometimes, the cafe can appear like an overcrowded market. Breakfast at the club is quieter but their choices are fewer. Gym/ Sauna/Pool The gym has decent workout machines and equipment. There's a steam and sauna room too. The outdoor swimming pool is decent but it was during the rainy season so I didn't get to use it. Hotel security: I didn't like the fact that just outside the hotel, there are many street pushers trying to get you to buy from them. It tarnishes the hotel's image and as a lady tourist, I can be scared off especially at night. However, within the hotel, it is very safe. One needs to use the room keys to access the levels. Even for the gyms, lobby toilets etc, one needs the room keys to have access to these facilities. This adds as a sense of security for the guests. Concierge: The staff are very knowledgeable. They provide information from where to get local products to how to get to certain places. There's even a travel agency rep which you could book and buy tickets from. Do read their terms and conditions very carefully in the event of a dispute. Staff: The major plus factor is the very good customer service which I have experienced from the front desk. At check in, I was attended by Joycelyn. She was very patient as we were still undecided about upgrades and the kinds of rooms to suit the family. She listened intently to our requests and made recommendations and proposals appropriately based on our family's needs. Also, she was very professional in attending to us even though she had to seek approval for requests beyond her. Very pleasant lady throughout my stay of 7 days, 6 nights. She handled my check out too and I must say, she knows her procedures well and is pleasant without leaving me feeling intimidated in the whole process. Thank you! Having said that, I'm rather disappointed with some other behaviours which I have observed in the others. Having stayed at hotels like Ritz Carlton, Shangri-la, Mandarin hotels etc, this hotel seems to be a little lacking in warmth and friendliness. We were not greeted along the corridor by their chamber maids in the morning and the breakfast cafe. In the cafe itself, I noticed their staff talking among themselves, yakking away in Cantonese loudly and sometimes nonchalantly in the presence of diners. Even their staff at the various stations look rather aloof and cold. Some do not reply when you make orders and look disgruntled. One diner was even upset when he asked for his egg to be cooked longer but was ignored. At the executive club, there was no greeting, no welcoming when you enter. I was carrying a toddler and wanted to seat him down to feed him. Their staff were talking among themselves at the club reception and no one attended to me. I had to call and catch their attention to ask for a baby seat. The club was not crowded and very quiet such that one could hear the pin drop. Staff at the club lounge needs to be more attentive and personable. The atmosphere is already cold enough and stepping in, not very welcoming. I would suggest playing some soothing music softly at the background to improve the atmosphere. It is a very nice and comfortable place with quality food served during breakfast but somehow, the place seems very cold unlike some executive clubs I have visited that have very guest-oriented service staff. These staff just make the entire visit very pleasant. Not here at Holiday Inn with the exception of 2 of them at the Club : Mandy and Christy Christy was the only one who greeted me and my children warmly in the morning when we entered the club. Mandy seems to be in-training but instead of standing there chatting at the reception, she was busy serving the guests. She's very hardworking, diligently attending to the work at the club. When called upon, she was patient to attend to us. The rest were standing around, evasive, with no eye contact, no smiles and unhelpful even when you approach them to ask about certain things regarding the hotel. One even directed me to go to the lobby to get the information when I enquired if the hotel do assist their guests to make bookings to Disneyland. This is the first time I have experienced this from an executive club staff. In my opinion, they serve executives and are expected to be top-notch and a level higher in service standards when it comes to attending to their club guests' queries. Even if she doesn't have the information, she should attend to it and at least get some basic information for the guest instead of channeling him/her away quickly especially when the club is not busy at all. I would have been very grateful for her extraordinary service if she would have gone on the extra mile to help in getting my booking done even when it's not directly under her charge for such enquiries. Furthermore, I was with young children and it's such a hassle just for me to lug them along to get my queries answered. This speaks so much of the helpfulness... Looks like the hotel has a lot of customer service training to do and in building a strong hospitable culture that is greatly applauded in the big hotels like Ritz in my other reviews. Friendliness, warmth and hospitality is the core business in the hotel industry other than the location, rooms and amenities. It's the people that make the stay unforgettable. However, if you don't expect much in the human touch and only wanted a good location with decent facilities and nice breakfast, this hotel is good. Collapse

We have stayed at this Hotel many times over the years. It is in perfect position has a good size pool and fits well into the budget. Staff have always be very pleasant and helpful... sadly not this visit we r booked here for 6 nights. Booked into room not all linen in room and no soap! Managed with shower gel. Plug was broken with shower, bath filled up unable to drain asked at front desk for it to be fixed and for soap. Returned to room plug removed but no soap. Daughter tried to have bath, plug not fitting so water draining out. Spoke to maid and front desk not fixed. Next day same. So write letter fixed that afternoon. Put do not disturb sign on door got a note to say room unable to be made up due to sign at 8:50 am u have to be joking try 1pm I would understand but 8:50 am........ really? Today decided to have slow day by pool. Was private function with lunch and swimming for families we assumed it was managers/GM function. No problems with this but don't appreciate being splashed having plastic floaty pushed in my face x3 or kids diving yes diving with nobody telling them of the dangers. We understand when manager lives in hotel they need to be able to entertain BUT close pool for 2-3 hrs for a private function. We felt very uncomfortable sun baking with so many staff in attendance, not the way a paying customer should feel. Collapse

Stayed for three nights. As priority club members we were able to take advantage of the air conditioned executive lounge with unlimited drinks, breakfast and afternoon tea for a small additional cost. This was a high bonus, do it if you can. Room are a bit dated but clean. Some floors have obviously been refurbished. Not very large rooms and bathrooms were a squeeze but clean but you have to remember nowhere in Hong Kong is very big. Free smartphone for your use around the city, an innovative and useful idea. Rooftop pool is a great bonus for cooling down but the reason we chose this hotel was its position on Nathan Road and its proximity to everything we wanted to see on our two night whistle stop tour.
