Firstly like other reviewers have mentioned is the poor access to the hotel. I am new to driving abroad and this layout was enough to induce a panic attack, especially with it being dark when I arrived. At one point I thought I would never find access. The car park is below the hotel, which means you have to drag yourself and your luggage up a flight of stairs (maybe there was a lift but I never found it). The ticket machine is on the wrong side for UK cars, meaning you have to run around the other-side of the car, again another annoyance. The hotel itself it quite tired, but absolutely spotless and comfortable. These are the most important things when staying in a hotel. The staff I met were quite pleasant. The one morning that I chose to have breakfast, I had my coffee taken off my table when I went up to the buffet - It was a full, hot cup, so obviously someone was about to drink it! That was very annoying as I couldn't be bothered to get another and wait for it to cool. I need my coffee fix! The selection of breakfast items was the usual offerings. Nothing special. I ate in the restaurant one night, it was again quite average and expensive. The house salad was made up of some peculiar items and was very gritty. Good beer. Service was good and quick. I probably wouldn't stay in this hotel again due to access issues only. Collapse
Awful access due to the current change of layout of the surrounding roads and building work!

I booked via booking.com as I was searching for a competitively priced hotel and found the Holiday Inn quite competitive, however, only to find that we then couldn't claim our reward points for our stay! It has since been pointed out to me that it is in the terms and conditions but I think it's a very bad idea and puts me off Holiday Inn out of principle! It seems very unfair on help sites such as trip advisor and booking.com; if Holiday Inn are wanting to be among the choices then they shouldn't penalize booking agencies by encouraging potential customers to then go direct to Holiday Inn! Two thumbs up!

The nicest hotel staff in Europe are here. They welcomed us with warm hospitality. Everything from lugguage deposit to check-in were smooth in professional style. They greeted us well, had a big smile meaning everything could be handled, I think. I requested for radiant heater or heating fan from every hotel in Europe. This hotel is the first one who responded me in positive way... Thanks to Ms. Biamnka who promptly recognize the availability of the appliance AND Mr. Bram who managed the the rest of the process to testing the radiator and explaining me how to use it properly and warned me how hot it would be as well. Because I come from Thailand so hot weather handling is my expertise. So last night was a very good night sleep. Clean bathroom to soak warm water was new, neat and clean. Ample towels was prepared. Scented hand & body wash was in the dispenser for easier use. Bathtub with handrail and anti-slipping knobs were well designed for safety. Bathroom curtained with two sheets reminded me the superior facilities selection than others. Comfy & spacious bed with 2-soft and 2-firm pillows with down-filled blanket made me warm enough to plunge to deep sleep. Wake-up call was punctual as Ms. Biamnka confirmed me to avoid any mistake. I wake up fresh as the breakfast prepared in the breakfast restaurant. Orange juice was home-made squashed, I think. American-style breakfast made us ready to pursue our new day. Moreover, Sangria awaited you in the line also with two tastes: strawberry and mint/ginger/lemon. I think it's the signature drink of Ghent! The restaurant is very unique in style. It's just like outdoor restaurant with the big roof covered for the light to get through. Everything is impressive even the location is just next to Frenius expo center. Much obliged to Ms. Biamnka & Mr. Bram for their enthusiasm for the client. Thumbs up!t Collapse

It's great for an overnight but there is public transport not far so can be used for spending time in Gent for discovering the city. We had a consultation at UZ Gent in the early hours, it was a 5 min drive from the hotel. Our room was great, updated with a couch. Mattress was hard but it's usually hard for me in every hotel. Breakfast is very basic. The reception was amazing and they solved a problem for us very creatively, thumbs up to them!!! :) We will be back due to my treatment at the hospital(nothing dreadful :D) Collapse
