We had planned to arrive via walking and metro but were greeted by heavy rain upon our arrival at the Genoa train station so we took a taxi. I asked before we got in, and he said 20€, and given the rainy weather, I said ok. When I got to the hotel, the front desk guy who checked us in said it should have been 10-15€. It was 20€ the next day to the ship so who knows? The hotel is surrounded by busy roads. We were promptly checked in and assigned Room 726. This was a top floor, corner room with magnificent views towards the harbor (had it not been so rainy). The room was quiet the entire time. On entry, there was a closet with a safe. There was a chair in the corner across from the bed. The bed was by the wall with the entry door and was comfortable with extra pillows as requested. There was a small sofa along the wall with the window which had a full balcony behind it. There was a door to access the balcony, but due to the weather, I only stepped out once to take a picture of the MSC cruise ship we would travel on the next week. Continuing on around this weirdly shaped room was a desk with a chair and the bathroom just behind it to the right. The bathroom had a toilet, a sink area, and a shower-but no tub. Upon arrival, the room was very stuffy. I tried to get cool air, but the a/c was off so I called the front desk and for the first time ever in Europe, they turned the air in my room on for me. I was impressed. I am not sure if they do this for everybody or if it was because I am Spire IHG level, but they did it, and it made a big difference. Because of my status, I was offered a free drink or points at check-in and chose the welcome points. I also received a free drink with dinner offer with my on-line reservation. I had dinner reservations about 1km away but canceled due to the rain. The hotel restaurant didn’t open for dinner until 19h30 (7:30pm) so I asked the front desk for a menu. The à la carte prices were very high, and the selections didn’t look that good so I asked if there was anything nearby. He recommended Delyzia, which was about 300 m away just across from the Dinegro metro stop, but beware, the restaurant is set back from the street. We walked by and another 100m before we realized we must have gone past it. It was decent pizza at a very reasonable price. We spent 19€, for 2 pizza and 2 soft drinks, plus the annoying Italian cover charge! We got a good night’s sleep and ventured down for breakfast, which I had included in our reservation. This is the main reason I am giving a 4 and not a 5. It was very crowded with many items slowly restocked. There were only scrambled?? Eggs and no eggs made to order. There were too many children running around poking fingers here and there. The staff was working hard to restock but needed a more efficient set up with which to work. It was my worst hotel breakfast on this European trip. We were given a later check-out because of my status and left about 1 pm (13h) and along with another couple who were leaving at the same time for the same ship, had a taxi cab race to the ship. Theirs went to the arrival stop so we won the race to the departure drop off, but again paid 20€ as was negotiated between the front desk and the cab when they called. Since it was still raining, we agreed. In conclusion, I think I would enjoy this hotel on a future stay in Genoa, either before a cruise or just on a visit to see the city more in depth. Our room was great, although weirdly shaped, with great views of the harbor. The wifi worked perfectly, everything was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. If we stayed there when it was dryer, I think I could deal with the location better. The breakfast has much room for improvement, and if the hotel wishes to compete with local restaurants, the dinner menu needs some updating, better pricing, and maybe some full meal choices. Collapse

This hotel is situated not near the center of Genoa. You can get there by metro or bus just in 10 minutes. It is situated near port and near the road, but the audibility of it is not high. Hotel is rahter calm and quite place. Staff is helpful (however some are more than others - it depends which person you will meet). Room was very clean. You can use teapot and make some tea. Bathroom is ok, but didn't like that shower don't have door - only a glass screen (floor gets wet fast and not easy to wash hear). As well hairdryer was terrible - it turned off by itself after some minutes of usage and you have to wait a minute or two before it starts work again (as we stayed only one night - didn't report to hotel staff). It took a lot of time to dry my thick hair. As well there were a problem with towels and shampoo - shampoo was for one person (we were 3!) and towels only for 2. Breakfast was ok - it is possible to find something you like. Can make good coffee, "juice" was terrrible - too sweet like limonade. Collapse

Ok, so it was a last minute booking, and we arrived at 11:15pm. But a little bit of charm at check-in would have gone a very long way. Car park access was a real challenge - the main park was apparently full, although it didn't look it, so we had a convoluted drive around Genoa to get to a badly sign posted, seriously steep curved access ramp and park on a rooftop,. Then had to wait 10 minutes for a buzzer to be answered to let us in. To be fair when we addressed this at checkout they deducted the parking charge. Breakfast was included, standard 2 star fair, but enough to refuel before we hit the autostrada. Rooms were fine, reasonably spacious, and clean. So overall, our experience would have been completely different if the young lady on reception had been in any way welcoming, and had explained things clearly. Collapse
