Firstly. We didn't pay full price for our stay, booked it via here for a reasonable £73 plus £12 parking. Had I have paid £155 I would grumble more. The double bed was fine and comfy. Pull out sofa bed not so.... Springs could be felt through the mega thin mattress. My son slept on top of the duvet folded in half to make it more comfy. Tea and coffee making as long as you only want one tea and coffee each. Shower gel bolted to the wall. Food in the restaurant was OK and the price I'd expect to pay. Breakfast... Oh :(. Cold slightly cooked bacon, wierd egg thing that sort of looked like scrambled, beans and good sausages. Thinnest cheap own brand bread for toast. Two cereals, tinned fruit which tasted odd, pre packed cheese rectangles and some passable pastries. Plus point you can do takeaway drinks and there's fresh fruit. All the "what to do" in the area leaflets where for miles away (ie Portsmouth) apart from one for the castle. All in all, was OK for a night. Had better had worse. Not what I'd expect from a top chain tho, I've had much better experiences from Premier Inn. Collapse

I was pleasantly surprised by the Holiday Inn Express Windsor. I stayed there for 3 nights during a recent trip to the UK. The hotel is located within close proximity to the downtown area of Windsor, a comfortable walk that took less than 10 minutes. The reception/lobby area of the hotel is modern and bright. They serve a decent breakfast each morning with both hot and cold items. It seemed like the majority of guests here were tourists, staying for one or two nights. My room was on the ground floor in a quiet wing. It felt really safe because you need to swipe your room key through a security door to enter this area of the hotel. Not only that, my room overlooked the local Windsor Police Station next door. The room had a functional design and had all the amenities for a standard hotel room at this price point. It had everything you need for a short visit to Windsor. Good location, good room, good customer service, good breakfast, good value - this hotel has a lot going for it. I recommend it to anyone who plans to visit Windsor. Collapse

Staff are friendly and try to help - they kindly re-arranged our booking by 1 week when we had to change our plans. The bedrooms are adequately furnished for a short stay of 1 or 2 days - you would lack storage space if you were staying longer. The bed is comfortable but the duvet only just covers the bed, leaving cold areas when there are two in the bed. Being in Windsor there is traffic and plane noise. The bathroom, equipped with a large shower, was excellent - although you had the mandatory budget soap dispenser screwed to the wall. The restaurant's only plus point is convenience. At breakfast there is a reasonable selection but the only egg dish on offer is scrambled. For dinner the menu is fairly limited - we had to ask twice not to have mushy peas with the cod and had to ask for tartare sauce. The "Caesars salad" came with cheddar cheese rather than the advertised and expected parmesan - the hotel did not charge for the salad when we complained. We went out the second night. Wi-fi is available and does work in the bedrooms but works best in the reception/restaurant areas. So, adequate and just about acceptable but on a par with Premier Inn/Travellodge. Collapse

We chose this hotel due to location, close to the centre and Windsor Castle. The hotel is nice from the exterior and reception area. Rooms are spacious and breakfast was lovely however... We booked a tripple room, the 3rd bed is a sofa bed with extremely thin mattress and all bars could be felt. The bed was also at such a weird angle it was impossible to sleep on, we ended up moving the mattress to the floor and making the best of it Another thing to consider is that you can hear everything that is going on if you are on a lower floor. The room above us was a family with children running around, this was OK but you really could hear the footsteps. We called recpetion to ask if they could have a word, and we could actually hear the convesation they were having through the floor. We have a few other issues and spoke to reception on departure who were aware and asked us to email the complaint in which; we did. After 3 weeks of hearing nothing we sent another email and still have not heard back - we are assuming their policy is not to reply or deal with issues. There are mamy other hotels in Windsor some famous brands which are much better and a few other lovely ones we found walking round. My advise is stay clear of this one and look for a better one which can be at a considerable lower cost and closer to the town. if you do complain dont expect anything to be done or to hear back. Will not stay here again Collapse

This is a very good "lodge-style" hotel and this review and rating is for a hotel in this category. It's got friendly, efficient staff and a comfortable bar and breakfast room. The rooms are modern and stylish whilst being functional - just proves you can combine good design and style with functionality. Beds are very comfortable and I had a very good night's sleep. I'll definitely use again if I'm back in this area. Collapse
