One night stay

Staff were very helpful through check in, room is was clean spacious, the car park isn't that big so I would suggest getting there early! Didn't sample the food as we walked into town. Overall, decent location so would stay again!

Stayed here for one night. Arrived just in time to grab a space in the free car park outside the hotel front door. Staff were friendly. Room was large, clean and decor was good. Bathroom had a lovely big walk in shower. Adequate towels. Hair drier fixed to wall alongside big mirror, so was able to wheel chair over to sit and use it.......cord was long enough too.....10 out of 10 for this !! Just a couple of annoying things......felt beds were on wrong wall as light bleed from the corridor came in through the door frame & spy hole. I did get past this by putting my pillow at the other end of the bed though !! Curtains didn't fit too well and let in bright sunlight a lot earlier than I wanted to be awake. Breakfast was ok with a choice of fruits , yoghurts, cereal, juice, hot food and pastries. The location was brilliant as right on the doorstep of loads of really nice looking restaurants. We would stay here agin. Collapse

Attended a wedding on Saturday in Wakefield and the Council carpark was locked on returning to the multistory in the evening. Returned by taxi the following morning at 8am (checked parking website) to discover it would be closed till Tuesday (closed Sunday & BH). This put me into a blind panic because I was on my own and hardly any charge on the mobile. I decided to book into Holiday Inn Express for 2 nights and get to a safe place immediately whilst I was trying to clearly think things through. On arrival the receptionist was very helpful & I explained why I was there so early at 9am and asked if could I wait in reception till a room was available. Understanding my mobile battery was low, she kindly lent me a charger and within a couple of minutes had googled the council car park information and phoned them to ask someone to open the carpark. In turn she printed off a map so I knew where to locate the car park and provided contact details and passed my mobile number on so they would call when they were on site. Such great service and outstanding support and within a couple of hours I was reunited with the car. I did not stay at the Holiday Inn at Wakefield thanks to the kind, supportive and excellent intervention by the lady on reception on Sunday morning. In a bit of panic at the time, I thanked her - but wanted to express my sincere thanks and express in a review what an amazing act of kindness it was getting me on my way back to the Peak District. Such a professional & going above and beyond what anyone could reasonably expect. I really appreciated that and sorry I was in such a daze at the time. Once again, thank you and my booking was cancelled via booking.com once I was on my way. I will always remember the professionalism and act of kindness of your receptionist. Thank you ;0). Collapse

Now the rooms are really to look at, big tv and very nice bathroom, bed was a little uncomfortable, I stayed here for business and when I went down to check what I could eat at the hotel as I just wanted to have a few drinks and eat while I worked, I was informed that the only food on offer was a curry and some other dish which I can't remember, I was advised to go out nearby for something to eat. Luckily it was a dry day but dark and so as a women staying away on my own I wasn't exactly comfortable roaming the streets looking for something to eat. This hotel would have been good enough if I had stayed with someone. I didn't get the chance to sample the breakfast because I left before it was open so can't comment on that. Collapse
