On arrival the staff were so helpful in getting us settled in. When we got to our room it was nice to find a clean room and bathroom. the bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The staff called a taxi for us from the lobby and it arrived within 5 minutes. The breakfast next morning was well cooked and displayed. The vegetarian option was a relief for my wife and was presented nicely. We enjoyed our stay here and were impressed with the overall experience even though this hotel is going through ab extensive refurbishment. Well done Holiday Inn Express, Swindon Central Collapse

Checked into this hotel after a long haul flight to sleep .Unfortunately this was not to be . I was allocated a room on the first floor and at 4am a horrendous argument took place involving 4 people right outside my room .That was only part of the problem because at 9am a drilling adjacent to the hotel impacted so much on the room it vibrated and it was impossible to sleep .However, thank you to the duty manager she reimbursed my first night and moved me to the other side of the hotel away from the noise . However , the workmen and their drilling moved too . Again it was impossible to sleep so I wandered the coffee shops of the town . I had booked for 4 nights but decided to leave after 3 .A uncooperative guy , duty manager, on reception exacerbated the situation and refused to reimburse the 4 th night or even acknowledge there was a problem .He compounded the problem . My son called Hayley who had been on reception and reimbursed night one . She very kindly reimbursed for night 4 , when I didn't stay in the hotel . I had to buy new rail tickets to return to Durham early and the change to my travel arrangements was costly and grossly inconvenient . A nightmare . The argument was not the problem of the hotel but the drilling etc was unbearable .It was impossible to sit and have breakfast with such a noise . I travel extensively and have never had such an experience . The breakfast girls did their best under the circumstances . Collapse

Was on an organised coach trip to the bath markets. When arriving at the hotel me and my sister were the only two without a room allocated. The hotel had put our first names against someone elses surnames. After entering a room allocated to find it occupied TWICE! - embarrasing to then be put on the top floor in a not suitable room to then be moved again! Was told by the staff this is not our fault! So who's fault is it then? Not a very friendly stay although the food was very nice but to be honest staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing or who was in charge! Collapse

I have stayed at this hotel several nights a week for the last three years. What keeps me coming back? Its the staff. The hotel has become tired and the front of house/house-keeping and maintenance staff have worked really hard to ensure that despite the this all guest get a warm welcome and are made as comfortable as possible. The refurbishment has started! 5th floor being done now. This is being managed very well by the hotel with minimum disruption. The limited onsite parking is now taken over by the contrctor but station parking is near by. Well done Sam and the team. Collapse

stayed here for one night on the 11th Nov for a shopping trip with my wife. The hotel it self is clean and room was excellent. We were greeted on reception by a receptionist that just went through the motions to say the least. No eye contact ( maybe something to do with the biggest set of false eyelashes ive ever seen in my life) We went to our room after being out all day shopping, all was well. We had a knock on the door after an hour or so to tell us out room had triggered the fire alarm panel ? all was fine but no explanation was given, an hour after that our tv switched itself off then came back on after 30 minutes , not the end of the world but a pain in the back side . The main issue came at 3am when a constant loud banging started from the railway track close to the hotel i rang reception around 3.30am they wasnt aware of any noise but went to check it out, the banging stopped around 5am. No feedback or reply from reception. We had very little sleep at all and wasnt happy ! when I mentioned this to your staff on Sunday morning we had a shrug of the shoulders and an offer of " holiday inn points" i dont have a holiday inn card ! even if i did i wouldnt find those suitable compensation, As a local business surely you are made aware of rail works specifically the kind that i experienced. I found breakfast was okay at best , food wasn't cold but certainly wasn't hot. In short find somewhere else if you want a good night sleep , good customer service and good food. Collapse
