Friendly professional check in, requested lower floor room and two rooms quite close due to the fact we were travelling with my elderly father and I was pleased to find they have reserved two rooms opposite each other (thank you) so great customer care and attention. On check in the man on reception asked us how the travelling had been and seemed friendly and interested in our journey. We asked about somewhere to eat and he told us about a nice pub just five minutes walk away that served tasty food plus 20% off the final bill as we were stopping at the hotel so bonus ! We found both rooms to be very clean and adequate for our needs! Dad's room faced the front of the hotel and he said he could hear some car noise but as this hotel is virtually sitting on the motorway I was surprised it was only some, there must have been very good noise insulation around the windows on the other hand we were at the back of the hotel and didn't hear anything apart from the person in the next room who was either coming in or checking in later in the night and just let their door slam shut ! They then proceeded to do this another five times before all was quiet, but that's not the hotels fault. Breakfast was ok ! But then it was complimentary so you cannot moan really, the food was hot and tasty and plenty of it . One remark there we're no covers over the cereal and I spotted two flies landing on them, possibly the hotel could look into open/close storage containers which would make the cereal more hygienic. . . On the whole we had a great stay and as it was only 8 miles to the Harry Potter studio tour a good place to stop the night ! If we are passing this way again we definitely stay the night !! Collapse

We stayed here for a night while visiting family who live nearby. This busy hotel is modern and clean with good facilities for the price. Our room was well planned with comfortable twin beds and tea/coffee making facilities, and a small desk area for a laptop. Also provided were a hairdryer, ironing board and a safe. There is plenty of car parking available. We asked for a quiet room and were allocated a room on the side furthest from the M25. We heard no traffic noise at all. The staff were courteous on arrival. Breakfast was very good with more than enough choice of cereals, drinks, fruit, types of bread and croissants, and the cooked food was good apart from the scrambled eggs, which were dry and artificial. The buffet was replenished regularly. The only negatives were: firstly one of the hand towels in the bathroom had an unsavoury looking stain on it. We handed it in to Reception shortly after we checked in, and we were given to understand that housekeeping would deal with this. Unfortunately a replacement wasn't brought to our room. The bathroom door was also difficult to close. Otherwise our stay was fine and we will be booking the hotel again at some point. Collapse

My family and I stayed at this hotel as we were attending a funeral nearby. The rooms are of an excellent standard with air conditioning, smart TV, free wifi. Fully equipped with what you need. Very comfortable beds and lovely bathroom. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly, welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The patio area outside the hotel is clean and well kept. I cannot thank the staff enough for making our stay relaxing and stress free. This hotel is on the top of my list for future visits to see family. Collapse

I stayed in this hotel during a business trip to the area. The hotel location is in the main road (M25) 45 min. drive from London and few min. drive from a place called st. Albans. I mentioned the location becouse the only thing that is around the hotel are main roads and a shopping center (quite big). The room I got was for handicap so (and I'm not) the bathroom was edjusted (low sink, strange shower ec') and for me it was not comfortable. The room looks good and was big enough and the bed felt good and the room was clean and quite. In general it looks like a new hotel which gives you nice feeling. I did not used or saw any facilities , I dint think they have. The breakfast was medium - no vegetables and the scrambled eggs was with strange taste both days. The highlight of the breakfast was the yogurt with blueberries. The receptionists were nice in general but it seems they are not in the same level of knowledge and ability to serve. If you come with a car to this hotel it is fine and good but if you want to travle without (and walk to the bus station thayץt will take you to st. albans and than take train and and ......) or bring good sport shoes or download "Uber". St. albans nearby us a great place to visit the day shop and sightseeing. Compare to other alternatives in the area the holiday inn express was good choice although I would have been glad if they had some shuttle or other way to get out of this place without taxi Collapse

Was over with my wife and two kids (11 & 14) to visit relatives so trying to find reasonable accommodation is hard. Went for slrge room with sofa bed. the room wwas quite small but considering there were effectively two double beds in it that was the only drawback. there was a large bathroom, very modern fittings and decor. All amenities were available and given that we were treated to a free drink on arrival as it happened to be the hotel's 1st anniversary, we were very impressed. Staff were very friendly and with breakfast included it was very hard to fault. As with most trips limited time is spent in the room and therefore everything was great, including value. Collapse
