Booked a one night stay and was really impressed with this Holiday Inn Express. It was a bit confusing to get to the hotel in the evening rush hour by car, not being familiar with Sheffield but it is in a good location for easy access to the city centre. The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious with a good sized bathroom and a large shower cubicle. The staff on reception were very welcoming, friendly and happy to help. With a self service breakfast included in the the price it was quite a bargain. This will definitely be my first choice hotel when next in Sheffield. Collapse

Arrived just after check in time 3pm greeted by a young lad, he delt with our check-in quickly, however when he was explaining things a young lady was stood next to him on the phone talking loudly, I had to ask to explain again as the young lady drowned him out. Once he was explaining once again the young raised her voice even higher. Obviously couldn't hear a word so just wanted the room key. Room was very nice, nice big bed. Went for breakfast the next morning and the breakfast was not nice at all, the sausages looked boiled, the scrambled egg looked inedible, so had some toast instead. Day 2 skipped breakfast and went to subway instead. Went out for dinner and came back to the lifts broken, being on the top floor with the wife having a bad back was not acceptable, we asked reception was their an alternative but only the stairs, only to see a disabled women come in trying the lift buttons, wasn't sure of her outcome. The extra milk we had for the room was removed whilst the cleaners came in,so it looks like you can only have 4 little cartons per room. Rang for some more milk as we wasn't aware the milk had been taken, to be told the lifts were out of order and room service wasn't available, although on check in they wanted my card details for room service. Also had a nice wake up call from reception at 8am even thou no alarm call was booked, answered the phone just to have the phone put down no hello, no sorry wrong number. Don't think it's worth the money we paid to be fair. Wifi worked well 10/10 Check in service 3/10 Breakfast 2/10 Beer prices 0/10 extortion Soft drink prices 0/10 extortion Room service 0/10 don't exist Cleaners 10/10 polite You would think with so many comments about the breakfast they would take note and do something about it. Would I return ? No jury's inn knocks spots off it. Collapse

Lovely hotel. Convenient walk for city centre. First night here so not had breakfast yet. I'm from Essex and can't believe I've just been charged £5.50 for a pint of lager in hotel bar.....so much for the North being the place of cheep beer!

My daughter booked and paid for 2night stay for my birthday so I cannot comment on the value of rooms. The twin room was clean and had everything we needed. The shower was excellent, very spacious and convenient shelves for toiletries. Wi fi worked well. My daughter slept well. I found bed too firm for me staff very helpful when I asked for extra duvet to pad out mattress. Slept well second night. Although breakfast wasn't a traditional full English, sausages beans and scrambled egg available. The egg didn't look very appetising, it was more than compensated for by choice fruit cheese etc. Certainly no need to go hungry. The hotel is only a short walk to city centre. I am not sure if I would want to walk it on my own in the evening. Collapse

Just returned from a night at the HIE - we used it as a base for a night in the city centre. It is very reasonably priced and is a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of the city and about 12 mins walk from the train station. We arrived at 1 and although the official check-in isn't until 3pm, our rooms were ready and we were able to check in early. The rooms were spotless, I'm assuming they have recently refurbished all the bathrooms, the shower was large, hot and looked recently done. Airconditioning was quiet which is always a bonus in these hotels. Breakfast the next morning was included and the standard Holiday Inn breakfast, eggs (powered I presume) were not to my taste but the sausages were nice and the pastries and fruit were lovely and fresh. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Collapse
