We stayed here April 1-4 at first site we were concerned as it was back away from the road a bit but in the end it was a good choice The hotel looks very good walking in very modern and the sitting/breakfast area was quite good Pool area was great for what we needed! The rooms were quite a good size and were very happy with the suite we had If we were to be on international drive again I likely would stay here again The only downside was maybe the Holiday Inn Club Vacation desk asking to visit etc... not really pushy but just wasn't a good idea to approach people while eating breakfast to do a tour We are owners of Orange Lake Resort... which we stayed at the week prior to staying here.... so if you want to do a tour and receive incentives I would recommend doing so Collapse
Unhelpful staff and hotel needs updating

First of all, the hotel is in a prime location on International Drive. The location is very nice. As a Holiday Inn Express, they do have breakfast included which is also a great benefit with a family. On the day we checked in I told the front desk about the dresser drawers in our room not closing and they did send someone up quickly. However he just close the drawers and said they're fine. I tried to tell him that they kept opening but he didn't seem to understand me. First issue… Not resolved. We stayed there a total of seven nights and on three of those days I had to complain about our room not being clean. So, basically half the time that we were there we were in an unclean room. For $300 plus a night for a larger room, I expect it to be spotless and clean every day. When I complained to the front desk about the issue they didn't seem to care. When I checked out and told him again that the room hadn't been cleaned half the time that we stay there I did get a measly "I'm sorry" and that was it. Again they didn't seem to really care about the issue. On top of all of that, the rooms, decor, and common areas all need to be updated. I'm not sure of the last time they were updated, but everything is pretty worn out. The shuttle that they advertise online only goes to Universal Studios and the Magic Kingdom. In addition, it only goes at one time per day and the times are not exactly convenient. Last but not least, they have a sales person in the breakfast area trying to sell tickets to the amusement parks. Some may think this is convenient, but we found it quite annoying because they constantly harass you about buying tickets. Instead of eating breakfast downstairs, we would bring it upstairs to our room so we didn't have to deal with it. Collapse

Hotel in good location with plenty of free parking. Rooms a good size if a little tired with microwave, tea coffee facilities and fridge only negative were that beds were rock hard and not very comfortable. Reception staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful (especially max) always spoke and acknowledged you and happy to assist with local information. Good choice of breakfast items but should ensure there is a member of staff to clean tables as often had to sit at dirty tables. Small pool and relaxation area which is nice. Basically ticks all the boxes if you are out and about visiting the attractions in Orlando. Collapse

My partner and I visited the Orlando Holiday inn Express and Suites in November 2016. We stayed in one of the suites which was absolutely lovely. So comfortable and certainly a home away from home. The room was equipped with a coffee maker, fridge, microwave and safe. The room was spacious and overlooked the pool and highway beyond. Each morning the breakfast was plentiful, although some days it was extremely busy. The shuttle to the parks was on time each morning and although the times for collection weren't suitable we were able to use the shuttle each day to take us to the parks. The shuttle was only a short ride to universal whereas Disney was further away and the only drop off was at the Magic Kingdom. We did catch the shuttle back from our days in Universal but arranged a Taxi back from Disney to make sure we could see the fireworks each night. The cost of a taxi was around $40 a trip but to get the extra hours in the park it was worth it. The only negative to the shuttle was it stopped at server all hotels and could be crowded but this changed day on day. The hotel was located close to several bar, restaurants and fast food places, along with several convenience stores and a Walgreens. All of the staff were courteous, friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We didn't make use of the pool as we spent most days in the parks or on excursions, but it looked clean and had just been refurbished while we were there. The room was cleaned daily and the whole hotel was spotless. I would certainly recommend especially if you were planning on spending most of your time in the universal parks. Collapse

The main effort was the theme parks, we needed feeding and watering and some where to sleep. This ticks all the boxes, a good breakfast selection in the morning and the hotel provide a bus service to the theme parks. Although you are within easy distance via a taxi, its only about $10 which was great for the return leg after a long day at the theme parks. We had a great time and the handy location of the hotel helped. The staff were helpful, we did get a discount ticket from IHG but a word of warning they asked us to go to a timeshare pitch out at orange lakes and we would get discount park tickets, this was a really hard sell, we were at the lakes for a couple of hours and had 5 different people trying to sell us a time share and really wouldn't take no for an answer, I've used Holiday Inn for years and won't stop but I was disappointed with the very hard sell approach, I as quite frustrated towards the end. In the evening there are a few places in walking distance to get food and shopping, or you can drive to the more busy areas. Collapse
