Accessibility: the hotel lobby is at street level without stairs. The hallways are a little narrow so it may make maneuvering with a larger power chair or with a manual with someone pushing it somewhat difficult. Check in: was efficient and friendly. Staff were pleasant. They showed me which wifi system to access, and where the access code. WiFi was included with my reservation (I am an IHG Rewards member). I had some difficulty logging on but the help desk person was able to easily solve the problem. His service was prompt, efficient and pleasant. I had a "junior suite" and I am glad I did. I know that NYC hotel rooms run on the small side so was not surprised at the petite size of the room. Having said that, the hotel makes good use of all of the space it has. The room was very clean and well appointed with a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron and ironing board. hair dryer and the usual bathroom amenities There was a small desk that provided ample room for my laptop and work items. I appreciated the luggage rack as many hotels no longer have these available. There is a tiny locker type closet, and a small dresser. A large screen TV that swivels so it can be viewed from about anywhere in the room sits on top of the dresser. There was a small love seat type sofa. Of particular note was the excellent lighting in the room. There were a couple of overhead lights, as well as one on the desk and one on each side of the bed. A full length mirror is on one wall with a light directly over it which made it easy for grooming and putting on make up. The temperature system worked well. . .I ran just the fan at night (it ran all night so no problem with turning on and off) to provide "white noise" which worked well. . .neither "hotel" noise nor street noise was a problem. The bed and pillows were very comfortable (and after all isn't that what you are really looking for in a hotel room?) Breakfast is included in the rate. It was not gourmet but perfectly adequate. The morning I was there the breakfast buffet included the usual cold suspects, as well as scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, pork gravy and very decent biscuits. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of some protein on the buffet. My two quibbles with the hotel: the TV reception was terrible, with so much static that it was unwatchable. The second was the lack of USB plugs. I could not find one in the room, not even in the desk area. If you need to charge phones, lap tops or other devices be sure to bring your AC jack/plug. On that side there are plenty of AC outlets to accommodate multiple devices. Battery park, several museums, the Staten Island Ferry and other boat excursions are a short walk from the hotel, as is the Wall Street Subway station. If you have reason to have to stay in downtown Manhattan, you should definitely consider this hotel. The cost by NYC standards is very reasonable, the staff is very good, and the hotel is definitely up to or above the Holiday Inn Express standard. Collapse

we arrived half hour early and we were asked to wait till 3pm as checkin in time is 3pm. NEVER EVER this has happened to us. We respected that rule and patiently waited for three oclock with food in hand in the tiny lobby! with kids in tow. At 3pm we were told the room was not ready i will spare the details. we finally got the room around 4pm. by this time kids ate their food in the lobby as we were told that the breakfast area was used for storing luggage. we get into the room and try to settle in so that we can make up for the lost time and started shower. the entire room steamed up. wanted to call the reception and found out that the phone does not work! i send my son to let the reception know. someone comes and fixes the phone and tells us regarding steam that it how it is cannot control the steam from shower. the fan just could not cope. so we have a think layer of moisture on everything in the room from clothes to personal items such as phones watch etc. in the mean time the house keeping and reception offered to put in 5000 credit in my ihg membership (have not seen it yet) and offered us voucher for stay next time (which now has become a missunderstanding on my part ) apparently i was offered 25% discount on top of 5000 points. this conversation is still ongoing as i have not been able to talk to any one. we check out the next morning (early i might add because we were in NY for only one night ) and when we were emptying our fridge we discovered that the fridge was not on all this time. i personally took the milk gallon to the reception and ask them to dump it for me and informed them about the fridge. Never ever this has happend to us and we have stayed in various H expresses and H hotels. totally unbelievable. i have not mentioned sleep comfort etc and i do not want to because i consider them subjective. I secured a suite room here several months ago, and it was really worth it, an improvement over a regular room, and a decent rate with prepayment. Ask for extras like more pillows, and a low floor, which will save you lots of time. Nice hot breakfast with many choices. Staff very helpful. This is my second stay and as long as my travels have me in the financial district, I will come again. Collapse
