First impression: Walking down hall could hear voices in other rooms. Entered our room to an open window on a 30degree night. Could not control the heat. Tub did not drain, pillows were so high I had a stiff neck by morning, Entry door had large gaps, When you open the door to the small bathroom, you flood the sleeping area with light. My wake up call was 1 hour late since their clock was not adjusted to daylight saving time. Did not know about the $35 parking fee. Staff was good, BREAKFAST WAS GREAT! Collapse

Hotel very small, pictures are true to size. There was no security so any and everyone could simply walk in as they chose. King room decent size. Put card on bed for sheets to be changed every night and used towels on floor for fresh ones. I stayed a total of 3 nights. First night bed was sloppy made with same sheets. A manager came and remade bed with fresh linen while I was in room. Towels changed, bathroom not cleaned. Second and third nights bed remade properly but with old sheets with card in bed. Got fresh towels but bathroom never cleaned. Asked for two wakeup calls and a taxi the last day as I was catching a very early flight. Taxi came but no wake up calls. Park Slope area is very boujee! Would ONLY stay there if only going to event at Barclay's Center and only for that night. There was no Burger King, CVS pharmacy, McDonald's, Starbucks, black salon or Barbara shop or any type of normal places you find in cities. All stores were expansive. There was a small mall next to Barclay's Center though. My friends came as well and booked 2 double beds but given room with one king bed. Front desk said they were not full but could not change them. They did only for their last night. Only good thing is that the subway entrance is 2 mins away and you can walk 15 mins to Barclay's Center. Collapse

Great value for money and wonderful staff. We checked in late and watched a lone staff member at the front desk handle a crazy busy phone, guests checking in and someone delivering new beds to the hotel. The staff member, Joseph was not fazed. He focussed on what he was doing, acknowledged guests in line and apologized for the delay. Never showed any irritation and did what he had to do to manage the situtation very efficiently and effectively. Collapse

I have stayed at HIE properties from coast-to-coast and from New England to Florida and this is the absolutely, hands down WORST I've ever encountered. Honestly, there's so much wrong with this hotel I felt like my wife and I were caught in a 3 Stooges film. From the moment you arrive you know there's something seriously lacking in amenities. This property is an attractive looking 9-story hotel, but when you pull around the back to park your car, there are perhaps 30 spaces for guests. The non-existent self-parking is priced at $35 per car, per day and obviously there are frequently no spaces to be had at any price. When I asked at the desk about parking, they pointed to a sign that stated there were no spaces available on that Friday night, nor were there spaces for Saturday. Again, I asked how we were supposed to stay there with no place to park the car. I was told to park on the street. Anyone familiar with the Park Slope area of Brooklyn knows that finding a parking spot is like striking oil. My wide-eyed look prompted the clerk to hand me a sheet of paper with the addresses of three "area" commercial parking lots & he said he had no idea if they had spaces or not, nor did he know their policy re coming and going during the stay. We were unhappy to say the least, but figured we'd go to one of the suggested places, figuring they'd be up the block or around the corner. Well, we drove around and found the "area" lots to be, I kid you not, 6 blocks away. You'd need to park your car and hail a cab to take you back to the HIE! Now my blood is boiling but it gets worse. The single elevator in the building is the size of a small closet. The luggage carts are actually 1/2 size so they fit, but they almost completely fill the elevator. The elevator shudders and judders and shakes so that you feel like a victim in thriller. At any moment you expect to plunge to the basement. That's after you wait perhaps 5 minutes for the car to return to the lobby. Oh, and the "pet friendly" policy is a scam worthy of Al Capone. How about $100 per day, per pet? All in all, a reasonable person might be tempted to say cancel my reservation and find another hotel. Well, they must have encountered that very thing because the cancellation policy requires you to notify them the day before you made the reservation or your card will be charged the entire amount. I suppose a clairvoyant could see into the future and avoid the cancellation fee, but everywhere else in the country a phone call before 6pm will suffice. I truly feel that they have you by the throat and they will fleece you unmercifully. Once we entered the room, which is smaller than my bathroom, the howling of the wind and the strong icy draft had us questioning whether the window would soon crash to the sidewalk below. We were surprised to find no mini-fridge and no microwave, commonly found in even budget hotels. To be fair, the room was reasonably clean, the bed was comfortable and the morning's breakfast buffet was good, as expected at a HIE hotel. A parting shot on the morning of our departure was served up when I asked for my receipt. I was told that since I'd booked online, the third-party service would be responsible for my receipt. Overall I felt that we were deceived and cheated and taken unfair advantage of. I always enjoy staying at HIE hotels, but this is the one from Hell. Do NOT stay here unless you enjoy being bullied and robbed! Collapse
