This hotel caters to the tourists visiting New York. While located near decent restaurants, the free breakfast room is jammed with families, it is time consuming to get an elevator (when they are both working) and the fitness center leaves much to be desired. Up until the most critical part of my trip, the service was average. The day before an important business meeting, they failed to get my dry cleaning back to me. I am a frequent visitor to IHG hotels around the country, but I will never stay in this one again. Collapse
A quiet night's sleep in NYC? It is possible!

I stayed for three nights recently and it's a great location, and decent pricing. But the real win was how quiet things were - not sure if I just had neighbours who weren't in their rooms often (aside from one night when shrieking children were hushed by a knock on a door and a polite request). The room I was in was also tucked behind the lift-well, which you'd normally expect to be noisy, however it was not. I was extremely surprised by this. The position of the bathroom definitely helped block what little noise the lifts did make. The building only has two lifts but I never had to wait more than a few minutes for one - even when one of them down one morning and was not fixed until the next morning. (Granted I did come and go earlier than other guests seemed to) Rooms are small, but it's New York so you don't expect to stay inside them for long. The facilities are good, but I would suggest another way to heat water hot enough for a cup of tea that isn't the coffee machine. Using it gives you some badly tasting tea due to residual coffee stuck in the machine. I can see how the breakfast room would fill up quickly even with the tables in the extra room - I popped down between 7 and 7:30 most days but there was no wait, and everything was fully stocked. On the day I checked out my preferred tea type wasn't there but the breakfast room attendant went and found some when I asked - which I appreciated! I would stay here again for sure - much better than other hotels in the same class I've stayed with in NYC. Collapse

This hotel is a little overpriced. It is clean and the staff really makes the effort to help you. It is very well located, just one block north from the Empire State Building. I saw some flaws though: Bedroom is small; bathroom is super small. I had to call them and remind them that I. wanted my room cleaned (it was 4:45 pm) The shower leaked a lot The breakfast is included and it's supposed to be served until 9:30 am. The first day, we were there at 8:30 am - it was busy but there were a lot of options. Next day we arrived at 9:05 am and there was no yogurt left, no mini muffins, etc. I saw some people requesting even coffee to be refilled. The worst problem was the elevator - only 2 to serve 18 floors including the cleaning staff. One of the elevators barely fits the cleaning cart. So, we had to squeeze against the garbage collected in the cleaning cart. But the worst happened the second day, a Sunday - one if the elevators broke down. This meant 15 minutes to go down for breakfast, 10 to go up and grab our stuff and 10 to get down again to check out...people in several floors could not come in due to our luggage. Collapse

It is located in a great place, at a short walk to everything central in New York City. The rooms were very small (standard for NYC) but clean and had everything necessary. The beds were comfortable. Never had a chance to try the breakfast.

We stayed here for 4 nights over Easter weekend. We had a few problems while staying and left with a bad taste in our mouths. The rooms were small. I've never been to NYC so this might be the norm. The beds are just too small for 2 people to sleep comfortably. But I did know they were full size so.... I mainly booked for the breakfast. We had a family of 4 and wanted to start our days with a decent meal. Our only complaint was it was PACKED every morning. No place to sit at all. We ended up bringing our food up to our rooms and eating on the bed. We notice lots of people done with their meals just sitting, talking, on their phones. It would be nice if the attendants could keep people moving along. We had issues with our shower leaking the whole time we were there. As a matter of fact when we checked in our carpet outside the bathroom door was all wet and squishy. Every time we showered the water would leak out the bottom of the shower, flood the bathroom and leak out onto the carpet. You could see where mold was growing. I let the front desk know 2 times but nothing was ever done about it. We even came back after a long day to rest up and use the bathroom and all our wet towels were still all over the floor. We had to grab some off the cart. For some reason our room never got cleaned that day. It also never was cleaned the next day until I went to tell the front desk all the issues our room was having. We went out for about an hour and came back and they had finally cleaned it. This was around 4pm. Rooms should be cleaned before that. Our next problem was with the air. We had to call 4 times and all 4 times a guy had to come up and mess with it. He would set it and it would just run and run and get down to 64 degrees in the room. Then he would come stop the air and it would get to 80 degrees in the room. We dealt with this the whole time and slept awful 2 nights in an 80 degree room. When we checked out nobody even asked a thing about our stay or apologized for all the issues we had. After me calling and talking to them you would think they would have wanted to check in. I was polite every time when I spoke to them and was never rude but it really seemed as they just didn't care. We had an awful view but that wasn't too big of a deal. I will attach our view pic. Anyhow, it was a good location. We had tons of choices for food and stores nearby. That's about it for the good. I just would not stay here again. We normally like holiday inn expresses but this one falls short. Collapse
