Very standard Holiday Inn Express accommodation but equally very reasonably priced- half the prices of UK hotels in the chain. Nothing special about it. Reasonably clean. Reception on the first floor (2nd floor if you are from the US) is annoying. It means that more use of the 2 lifts are required. If you can the stairs are often faster. The breakfast. I have nothing good to say about it, except that it is included in the price. The food is the cheapest of everything they could find & is very limited. Parking out front is free. & we managed to get a space. But spaces are limited. Collapse
Ok for business

The hotel is clean, rooms have a good size, no noise, staff and service is good. Breakfast is ok, not great. The location is not great, not much around, not close to madrid center, but ok for a business trip.

Holiday Inn Express Alcobendas, Madrid, is very close to the Madrid Bajaras Airport - about 12 min by car. It is a bit away from the city. If you are planning to hire a car, it is an ideal place to stay. The hotel is well maintained. The reception is on the 1st floor and by default both the 2 lifts for the hotel stop here first. Ground parking is free and is on the ground floor. There is also facility for underground parking for a charge. The reception staff are friendly and try to help, but I sincerely feel that they are not well catered to the clientele who are tourists. WiFi connection was good enough and free. We are a family of four and they gave us inter-connecting/adjoining rooms upon request which was very convenient. They offer a complimentary basic breakfast - consisting of some pastries, cereals, bread, few slices of cold meats, erratic supply of boiled eggs (not available for 2 of the 4 days we stayed and this was only non-veg stuff we can eat), yogurt, fruit juices and hot beverages. It is the same everyday with a few missing items here and there. There is only one member of staff manning the restaurant. It tends to get busy at times and we noticed on one day there were people queuing to get to breakfast as the restaurant was full. The rooms are well maintained by other hard working staff.. The toilets have fixed basic amenities like hand-wash and shampoo/shower gel. The WC has a design fault in my opinion - to flush one has to bring both the toilet seat and cover down - a bit of a nuisance to do everytime you use it. There is a bidet as well. No mini-fridge in the room. Tea & coffee making facility is available with a kettle. A hair dryer was also there. We bought our drinking water but I understand that the tap water in Spain is potable. Television is mainly Spanish channels with one BBC World News channel. Local shopping centre was the huge Carrefour shopping mall with eateries opposite to the Hotel. I could not see any restaurants in the vicinity. To travel to the city for sightseeing, I have a tip, if you have a car - go to the Metro Station 'Rhonda de La Communicacion' rather than the nearby 'La Granja' station which the hotel staff advises. The station I mention, is also close by and you can easily find street parking around it which is free. We brought a 2 day Tourist card for about 14.20 Euros each. This Tourist card is the most practical and economical way of travelling in Madrid. It can be used on all public transport in the Zone A, without travel limits within the period of validity. The reason I said to take 'Rhonda de la Communicacion' metro station is because it falls in 'Zone A' of the travel zone which the travel card is valid for. If you try to travel from 'La Granja' station the ticket won't work as it is beyond 'Zone A' - we learnt it the hard way on day one and then managed well. The metro network is excellent with good connections and short waiting times. As I said, the staff at the Hotel is oblivious to this availability of Tourist Card for travel. Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to travellers who are going there for touristic purposes like us. Collapse

Value for money

Nice hotel, close to the airport, might not be the best if you need central Madrid though. Great beds, big bathroom, friendly staff, free parking and free, generous breakfast. Definitely value for money!
