Just returned from a couple of days here. This is the first time I've experienced this chain and I was pleasantly surprised. He hotel seemed to be quite new and was very modern. Our room was a decent size, very clean and had a beautiful bathroom with a large shower. The towels were huge and of good quality. The room was comfortable, with a settee, desk, chair and flat screen tv. Wi-fi was free throughout the hotel. There was a short hanging rail open to the room but no drawer or cupboard space. However, this is not the sort of accommodation you choose for a holiday. Saying that, if you are prepared to live out of a suitcase it would be fine. Tea/coffee etc provided in the room with replacements provided at reception on request. The staff were very helpful. The hotel is located in a quiet area a short walk from the sea.A sign in reception indicated a parking charge of £4 for duration of stay, which is a lot if you only stay for one night, but we were not charged on our visit. This probably applies in peak season to deter non residents from using the car park. The breakfast choices were very good and included bacon, sausage, beans and scrambled egg as well as fruit, cereal etc.If ever in the area again we would just book in here, no need to search around. £8.85 for three teabags

There for a business meeting today, waiting around at reception to simply get some tea/coffee for our meeting, for at least ten minutes, no one around or manning the desk or front door. Glancing hopefully through the door behind the reception desk, again no one to be found, but there was a blatantly obvious handbag just sat on a chair opposite the door, you might want to think about your security measures holiday inn, it would have been way too easy for someone to walk behind the desk, pick up the bag and walk out in a matter of seconds. When we did find a staff member, she seemed almost surprised that we needed some help. She was very nice though and had a smile (which is essential in this industry, I know) and offered to bring the tea over to us. Please note, there were no price lists for drinks visible - not that you'd think it would be a big deal when you're just ordering some hot water, a pinch of milk and a teabag each. If a price list was visible, we would have just drank water, or indeed, taken our business to a much smaller and more local business in Hoylake, who would have undoubtedly had realistic and fair prices. Three small pots of tea came over, three mugs, three spoons, three jugs of milk and sugar - fab, the basic essential things needed to have a cup of tea were provided. The three teabags hanging out of the teapots confirmed the cheaper brand than one would probably expect to be given in a hotel. Managed about 1 and a half mugs of tea, which took ages to brew too because the teapots hadn't been pre-heated (not hard, bit of boiling water), and the tea unsurprisingly went cold pretty fast (within about 5-10 minutes). Went to pay for the tea (with a different member of staff), wasn't told the price before being handed the card machine (I had my card out) and so to my horror and disgust and amazement, the total read £8.85. Working out at £2.95 each. Seriously. Do they have a shortage of teabags or something? "And that's for just three cups of tea, right?" (Half expecting a piece of cake or something, to be added onto the bill by mistake). "Yeah." Riiiiight. I pay, extreme reluctance. By the time our party left, there wasn't exactly a 'Thank you' or 'Goodbye' either. Just to put things in perspective, we went shopping about an hour later and bought plenty of groceries for lunches and dinners for the next week, including steaks, and the total came to £12.60. Get a grip manager of the Holiday Inn. Your franchise is a disgrace. We are not coming again for any business or pleasure. Collapse

I would've given 5 stars except for the beds, ours wasn't very comfy and the kids had to share a double fold-out sofa bed (they were mortified!!) That had a collapsed base (where their heads went) and a metal frame that we were worried they might catch their fingers in (so wrapped a towel around it). The bathroom and walk-in shower was lovely, particularly liked the night light option, great for not waking everyone else up and finding your way in the dark. Breakfast was fine, plenty of hot and cold choices but coffee was out of a machine and was absolutely rank! Had to go find a decent coffee shop after we'd checked out. Yes, the walls are thin but we're weren't kept awake by anyone. Staff were nice. It was ok for the price and for one night but I'd probably pay a bit extra next time and go to a PI or TL. Collapse

My wife comes from close by and was meeting some old school friends so we decided to make a weekend of it. We choose the Holiday Inn as the get together was round the corner The Hotel check in was speedy and the girl on the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. The room was large and very clean with a great bathroom. The only problem was it eas freezing as someone had turned the heater off didnt warm up till the fans wing day. The bed was comfortable and breakfast very tasty with a good selection Collapse

We regularly stay at this hotel and the standards have never dipped. The rooms are always clean and tidy and the shower is great. Breakfast has improved with the introduction of bacon but some people may disagree with me. I will visit again.
