We have enjoyed 7 wonderful nights at this fantastic hotel. Our room on the 23rd floor was of a high standard with plenty of space, a well decorated modern bathroom and wall mounted TV. Every morning the room is serviced quickly and efficiently again to a high standard. There are simple tea/coffee making facilities too. On the 8th floor there is a guests only terrace with a few exercise machines and a diy laundry. Tokens and washing powder are available from reception at HK$30 for the washing machine and the same amount for the dryer. Whilst you wait for the cycles to finish we sat in comfortable surroundings chatting f over a drink. There are also internet stations or you can use the extensive WiFi to browse whilst you wait. Breakfast is available at the sister Crowne Plaza. Either continental of for $99 a full English which gives even the most demanding guest a wide choice of foods. Transport is easy with the hotel b Kong only a matter of a few hundred metres from the Tseung Kwan O MTR. A fast and convenient way to travel into anywhere around HK We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel for your stay in HK Collapse

I actually waffled a fair amount in rating this hotel. In most respects I felt that it deserved a five star review. But it was incredibly cold in the hotel, such that for multiple guests we had staying in the hotel, everyone, couples and singles alike, were uncomfortably cold, and couldn't sleep the first night until they put on extra clothing. The hotel was good about furnishing extra comforters on request, but they were not at all forthcoming on why the rooms were so cold, or even apologetic (and adjusting the thermostats did no good). In other respects though, the hotel lived up to, or exceeded expectations. The location is just as it says, just above the Tseung Kwan O MTR station. The exit from the station is C Popcorn Mall, and from the mall, you take a covered driveway that serves the Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, and Vega Suites. The circular driveway looks quite nice, and has a rock fountain in it. The Holiday Inn Express is probably the most casual looking of the three, but the rooms were clean and reasonably large (by Hong Kong standards). The showers were hot and had good water pressure. The amenities included an electric water kettle and free instant coffee and tea in the rooms. There was a television, though we did not use it. And there was plenty of light, and a reasonable number of electrical outlets though at least one was a bit cumbersome to use (under the desk next to the bed). The hotel completely exceeded expectations in that the "light breakfast" is a complete misnomer. I don't know if this is always the case, but the breakfast area was actually hosted in the Crowne Plaza across the driveway, and it was a full hot breakfast buffet with both local Hong Kong choices and western food, and even things like baked beans, in keeping with UK type breakfast choices. There was rice congee with the usual toppings, breads with condiments, eggs, meats, noodles, fruits, sweet potatoes, yogurt, cereals, and more. There is an option to upgrade your breakfast for another $99 HKD, but I honestly don't know what more they could have added. If you register as a Holiday Inn Rewards members, which is free, it gives you access to a small VIP area, but honestly, the differences are trivial--a few more pastries and an electric coffee machine with cappuccinos and lattes available, instead of the standard coffee urn. Speaking of things that I would also not pay an upcharge for, the optional "sea view" is pretty underwhelming. We got a "free upgrade" to a seaview room, but as the hotel is not really on the water, it's still a view of mostly cityscape, with a glimpse in between the buildings where you can see water. So I think the Sea View rooms are based on which side of the building the hotel is on, but don't expect vast ocean vistas. The non seaview rooms that were at the same price point also included a small sofa that could turn into a pull out bed, at least for one of the pairs of guests we had staying there, and another one was probably designed for handicapped guests, and had a larger bathroom that could accommodate a wheelchair. The hotel doesn't specifically say so, but the front desk will, upon request, permit each guest to have one charge adapter for the room that will accommodate plugs from the US, Europe, or elsewhere. There is also a card that also lists other amenities available for purchase, such as toiletries, feminine napkins, and condoms. So overall, the hotel is brilliant in terms of price, accommodations, breakfast, and especially location. In fact, if there is anything else you need, the entire Popcorn Mall and Tseung Kwan O Mall is available to you, without ever having to step foot in an uncovered area. But if you're sensitive to cold, I'd plan to bring extra clothing or remember to ask for an extra comforter at check in. And if the hotel deliberately saves money by not turning on the heat, then it may be that it's uncomfortably warm during the summer. But I haven't tried that myself. Collapse

3 issues happened that made my stay less pleasant: -Room service: On the room I found a brochure for 4 simple dishes that were possible to be ordered to the room, I ordered one of them and they told me that I needed to pay in cash, as I didnt have any local currency i requested the hotel staff to put it on my account, but the only option they gave me was to go to the reception with my credit card and make a deposit so they can give me the cash... very rigid and uncofrtobale.... definitely I cancelled and just left the hotel to find a meal outside of it. - Laundry: I left some clothe properly documeted on the laundry bag that I really needed the next day to be cleaned. When I arrived later that day, my clothes were not picked up or cleaned...I call the hotel staff and they confirmed that the people in charge of laundry already left... finally a very formal lady made a great effort to iron my shirt which I used the next day (dirty but ironed). next day when i checked out my bill included the laundry. Inefficient and rude, excluding the great job perfomed by the lady who went to my room and found a solution. - Billing: When I checked in, they requested my CC for a deposit, I told them That I could pay in advance but they didnt allowed me and we created the deposit. When I checked out I wanted to change the payment method (use a different CC) but the hotel staff told me that was possible but as the deposit was already made the hotel/bank will take more that 10 days to refund my deposit therefore they suggested to use the same card..... This is the first time somtihng like this happened to me and its very disapointing. Collapse
