I've stayed her 3-4 times prior to boarding a cruise ship. I've stayed in the rooms that sleep 6 and now I've stayed in the rooms that sleep 4. I absolutely love his hotel! Upon arriving to airport I made quick phone call to the hotel to see where to catch the shuttle. The shuttle was full when we got there so we had to wait for the next shuttle which took a lot longer than normal. After waiting 45 minutes the shuttle came back around and we were off to the hotel. The front desk people are always so welcoming! They great you with a big smile and a friendly voice. Checkin was quick and easy. The room was great! I dropped the luggage off and headed out the front door. Right across the street are a few fast food eateries and Winn Dixie store for any last minute items. Beds are comfortable and the room is very spacious. They offer a free large variety breakfast. I look forward to returning on my next trip to Florida! Collapse

Lionel (the chef) cooks the most amazing food. I had the grilled pork chop and his pork chop gravy was icing on the cake! He also made my delicious omelet for breakfast. The entire staff takes pride in what they do and it shows! Great place to stay I would recommend to everybody 10 Stars hands down! Collapse

I'm a loyal HIE member and there was nothing wrong with this hotel as a facility. It was near the airport and the cruise terminal and across the street from a few restaurants and a grocery store, which was very handy. My issue is with the shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. We had a group of 9 so I called the minute our plane landed, at 4:20, to ask if we needed to do anything special since we had a big group. The lady at the front desk that would be no problem and told me where to go after getting our luggage. After waiting 25 minutes at the pick up location and seeing another HIE shuttle from another location go by twice, I called the front desk again and was told the shuttle was on its way. Another 25 minutes and another phone call with the same result. Finally, after 15 more minutes and seeing so many hotel shuttles come by more than once, I called again and as I did, the shuttle pulled up and we were told they didn't have room for our entire group. I had the front desk on the line and told them I had called almost an hour ago to tell them we had 9 people. The driver let us all get on but we had to sit in each other's laps. I have to say that the front desk staff remained courteous with me each time I called, which doesn't always happen when you call more than once for the shuttle but I just feel like waiting over an hour was unacceptable when so many other shuttles went by. When we finally arrived at the hotel, there were two other hotel vans sitting in the parking lot so it would have been nice had they had more than one shuttle at such a busy time. The hotel was just what you expect from HIE but I wouldn't recommend it based solely on the shuttle experience. We arranged for two cabs the next morning to go to the cruise port and it was $14 per cab, less than it would have been had we paid the $8 per person for the shuttle service that the hotel arranges for cruise passengers. And just fyi- the shuttle service taking passengers to the cruise terminal had large trailers behind them and loaded so much luggage that it seems like it would have taken a long time at the port to wait on your luggage unless yours was loaded toward the end. I highly recommend a cab. We used Yellow Cab and they were punctual and even sent a text when they were on the way. There were lots of cruise passengers here so breakfast was pretty crowded since everyone was trying to get out at around the same time but that's probably true of any of the hotels that were in this area. We fly into FLL when porting out of Miami as it is much cheaper. This hotel provides the accommodations needed for a 2 night stay prior to heading to Port of Miami. Since it is one of the hotels serviced by SAS transportation it is very convenient. Check in is very easy with friendly staff. We took the free shuttle from the airport which is quick and convenient. We called when we got our luggage and proceeded to go outside. We had about a 5 to 10 minute wait and we were off. The hotel is a quick drive. We dropped off Crowne Plaza guests first and proceeded to the hotel. This hotel is standard for a HIX.. clean not lots of frills but comfortable. There is a breakfast in the morning, pretty good for a general breakfast. My husband enjoyed the pancake machine. There was plenty of seating. We just hung out all day long at the hotel as there is not much to do nearby unless you want to cross the heavily trafficked road in front. We had friends joining us on the second night. They were leaving their car at the hotel so we had access to that transportation. Uber is easily accessible in this town as well. We drove to Bubba Gumps for dinner as it is one of my husband's favorite places. It was a short 10 minute drive. Bubba Gumps is across from the public beach so a walk afterward is a great thing to do. The day of our cruise we had ordered a SAS vehicle. We did this online. They told us they'd be there at 9:30 and we received a phone call at 9:15 that they were on their way. The van was a little crowded but still comfortable for the 25 minute drive to the port. For $15.00pp it is well worth it. There are two HIX in Fort Lauderdale. We choose the one on HWY 84 when porting out of POM but if we port out of Ft Lauderdale we chose the one on 17th its closer to that port. If you are looking for a comfortable stay with reasonable rates this hotel fills the bill. Collapse
Convenient to airport and Cruise ships

Close to the airport and to the cruise ships docks. It is across the street from a shopping area and grocery store if you need last minute shopping. Typical Holiday Inn Express that did not disappoint.
