Well located but no ambiance. On check in I was not acknowledged as a rewards club member. Had to ask my room number, was not given directions to my room. All in all felt like I was an inconvenience to the 2 females on reception. Room was normal standard although bathroom was extremely hot and could not adjust temperature of the radiator. Room was noisy. Whole hotel felt very tired. Breakfast was ok normal HI express fare. Checkout was a repeat of check in. Staff here are defiantly lacking even the basic customer service skills you would expect. I defiantly wont be visiting this Holiday Inn Express again, good job it wasn’t my first experience of the HI Express brand or I wouldn’t be booking with them again. This hotel needs to be brought up-to the standard of other HI Expresses I have stayed in. Collapse

Stayed for for three nights. Place appears to be in need of an overhaul or at least a deep clean. Room smelt of weed, boggies wiped on the walls, yellow grout and black mould in the sealant in the shower. Squeaky floorboards throughout not conducive to a good nights sleep. Breakfast so so. Positives are friendly helpful staff, parking only £4 and the location next to McDonalds! My company paid for the stay so beggars can’t be choosers but next time I will be asking to stay somewhere else. Collapse
Poor customer service from staff, not a good night sleep. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL

I am still in the hotel and trying to get my IHG points back and money back and go somewhere else to stay the rest of nights. It is terrible. I booked 3 nights with points and cash. - Incidents: Arrived from a night shift to an extremely warm room, tried to decrease the temperature. Air conditioner did not seem to be working. I called reception, a lady answered and said " I will try fix it and let you know" . She never called back and the room continued to be warrm. Arrived from my night shift to sleep just to be I got woken up by banging on the door, very loud and twice. WE HAD THE SIGN OUT THE DOOR "DO NOT DISTURB PLEASE"" as I am a night shift worker . I got really upset and did not manage to go back to sleep until much later ,just to be woken up by reception telling me that I had to check out and that had leave the room. I had to explain myself 3 TIMES that I had a booking for more nights and that I was an IHG member , she asked if I wanted a late check out I once more told her that I had booked for 3 nights. I was very tired, upset and I told her that I would get the reservation booking. During the conversation she seemed to have no idea what she was doing as she was talking back to another colleague (I could hear) after each of my sentences, which was very condescending. At no point she was apologetic, sorry or sounded friendly. She had a clear mission to take me out. I tried to look for my booking on my phone, then finally she said to her colleague "öh you found it" . I explained to her I was really upset and that I am a night shift worker in a hospital. Then she informed me that they had apparently found the reservation she just said "we found it ,its ok" NO APOLOGIES ,NOT EVEN A LITTLE SORRY. She was about to hang up and I basically said "this is where you apologise and said sorry to wake you up?" I was very upset. She then in a very artificial and sarcastic way said "oh yeah, apologies". She then remembered apparently the issue with the air conditioner and quickly asked ""oh is the air conditioner working now?" Terrible customer service! - Lack of Sleep: I requested a high room (with balcony) through IHG and they gave a standard. The bed was horribly hard (honestly), the beds were hard as well. The bedding ad sheets felt cheap and rough on the skin. It took me a long time to go to sleep after the incident in conjunction to the horrible bed and noise from the hotel. - Customer service: at reception staff were not amicable , they just gave me my card and that was it. Standard. Usually as IHG gold member you get a drink, points or at the very least a nice greeting or warm welcome. None of it happened. The ice vending machine was not working. I pointed out this to the receptionist , clearly she had no clue or common sense, she got the manager and the manager went to a Mcdonalds to get some ice (which was nice of him). - Positives: if you like Mcdonalds, there is a Mcdonalds just next to it. It is just 5 minutes walk from Crewe's rail station BUT I do not believe it is not worth spending a bad night or not have sleep at all when there are other hotels close by ,like the Best Western (closer). Nicer options near rail station. -Room: holiday inn standard for UK. Room had a television, kettle and not much space for storage. The bathroom did not have shower gel we came to a room with an empty bottle. The bed as described above was horrible , hard and with a dip in the middle. Pillows were hard and cheap. Overall, terrible customer service , room not prepared to be given to a guest and expect a terrible night with calls from reception, noise, and cleaning service banging on the door for room service ( we had a sign outside for do not disturb!)
