The staff were very helpful, but unfortunately internet wasnt working in my rrom, i tried to use there t.v. internet it wasnt working. i tried to book a film, again, it wasnt working. it is a new hotel, but i think it is no fault of the hotel, it is the etv system which is externally looked after by a private company. i would defintely go back again. The staff in the Cardiff airport holiday inn were lovely. Collapse

My friend and I only stayed one night before flying from Cardiff Airport. My bed was comfy, the room was clean and nicely presented. We had already eaten down the Bay earlier so did not use the bar. I didn't realise that we could have used the hotel parking (which looked reasonably secure) and utilised the courtesy bus to the airport but, we were told that it was quite expensive. I couldn't say because I never checked that. However, the hotel was only 2-3 minutes drive from the airport so no drama getting there. Collapse
Too expensive for what you get

Visited here for the Rugby, generally love holiday inn but this was a disappointment, £246 for 1 night and never stayed in a worse hotel bed, springs were dodgy, heating system didnt seem to work, either cold or too warm, breakfast couldnt have been any more basic. We got a phonecall during the Rugby to say our room would be sold on as we hadnt checked in, even though we had to tried to check in at midday but our room was ready and they quite happily agreed to hold on to our luggage. To be fair the hotel was clean but for price and being so basic will not return. Collapse

We selected this hotel to provide easy and complementary transport to Cardiff airport before our holiday. The hotel also provided parking for 8 or 15 days at very competitive rates. Great reception by very helpful staff. Having pre-booked there was very little administration to do save move into the room. This was a little quirky event in itself as the key cards have been printed incorrectly showing the direction of swipe – you get used to it quickly. The room was spacious for a budget hotel providing a sofa for watching the television. The view from our bedroom was spectacular (room 206) looking out south over green fields, a viaduct and the Bristol Channel. Our only negative observation was that a previous occupant had obviously smoked in the room which had to be overcome by a heavy use of fabric deodorant – not the hotel’s fault merely an previous inconsiderate guest. The facilities are in line with most other budget hotels with a fairly comfortable lounge, dining area and a pool room. There are vending machines for crisps and chocolate and an ice dispenser. Free Wi-Fi is available in most areas of the hotel with an option for superfast links for a price. Evening meal options are fairly basic with choices of pizza, burger or similar. There is a bar but prices are high - typically £9.10 for a can of Guinness and a pint of lager. We were a little concerned about the noise from the airport given its proximity. However with double, double glazing and a very large air-gap between the two, we can honestly state that we didn’t hear a thing. The bed was a standard double with a mattress that was comfortably firm. However the bed was over sprung leading to over rocking on the other side when either partner moved. Secondly, the heating system didn’t appear to be able to be set to a temperature. Heating was either on or off. There was a plus or minus button to adjust the temperature but it didn’t appear to work. As a result we awoke in the middle of the night at a room temperature of 26C! Finally, whilst not being disturbed by the airport noise we were constantly awoken by late arrivals and early departures doors being ‘banged’ in the night. This phenomenon is not unique to this hotel but the design of doors. Heavy doors keep the noise out but even when closing the door with the handle down the loud and irritating still carries through quiet corridors. Rant over! Despite the poor sleep quality it was a fairly good stay experience with long term parking, free carriage to and from the airport. We will use the facility again for sheer convenience. Collapse

We stayed here the night before our 14 day holiday to Lanzarote. Parked at the hotel. Then stayed the night we returned. Lets do the maths. To park in Cardiff airport long stay carpark would have cost £120 for 2 weeks. Total cost to stay and park at hotel (double room) £150. As we have a 2 hour drive to and from the airport this makes the travelling experience so much easier and enjoyable. The room was comfortable. Wake up call exactly on time. Easy prompt minibus transfer to and from the airport. Breakfast is help yourself. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and work as a team. The mini bus driver was pulling pints in the bar later in the evening. We will stay here again if we fly from Cardiff. Well done and thank you to everyone at Holiday Inn. Collapse

My wife and I had to travel to Cardiff, at short notice, and decided to stay at this hotel. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were all very friendly, although there was a lot of early morning noise from doors not closing quietly. The restaurant was a big disappointment. For our evening meal we selected the Thai Vegetable and Chicken Tikka curries as our main courses. The restaurant area was cold. Our meals were brought to the table by a large, elderly gentleman, wearing jeans and with a baseball cap on his head. He sported a long white beard and - at a glance looked more like Santa Claus (out of season)!! "This'll be the vegetable one," he said as he proffered the first dish, advising us to be careful not to touch the plates as they were hot. It was quite the opposite. The plates were cold, as were the steel dishes that the curry was in. The food was tasty enough, but very small portions and cooled very quickly as we were eating - as microwaved food tends to do!! The complimentary breakfast was also a disappointment. The cutlery was not clean - and I mean "not clean" - there was still dried food on the blades of the knives - and they ran out of napkins on the second morning!! As for the food; it was lukewarm, the sausage skins were tough and the "scrambled egg" had more the texture of a couscous. The beans looked watery so we avoided them altogether. The toast was OK, but the "brown" bread was rather pale looking and lacked any wholesomeness!! At least the spreads were of the pre-packed variety. Judging by the light froth that appeared round the top of the mugs of tea, we have to assume that the milk was not "fresh" but re-constituted. Would we stay there again? No! Collapse
