Excellent location for major roads and right next to little country train station. Well located for trumpington park and ride into cambridge. Parking in cambridge is not recommended. However, sat nav took us the wrong side of the train line initially. Breakfast was substantial for a continental breakfast, included sausage, beans and scrambled eggs! staff very friendly. Room clean and ecologically conscious, being newly built. Would certainly stay again if in the area. Collapse

Picked this hotel purely as it was exactly mid distance between my last call Friday and First call Saturday. pleasant surprise - So friendly! arrived latish about 9:30pm greeted at reception told me all about hotel gave me a welcome envelope with free bar token (I didn't uptake as I was just wanting a shower and bed!) Beds comfy - huge shower - TV - everything you want - There is a railway line alongside and my room looked out on Whittlesford Parkway station - saw the Stanstead express stop and go and others couldn't hear them through the glazing - and if you were a light sleeper they actually supply free earplugs in the room! Tea and Coffee in room - and complimentary FREE breakfast (or breakfast included with all rooms! if that's more PnC!) Good breakfast - continental but there was scrambled eggs sausages beans hash browns if wanted - juices cereals tea and coffee Hot Chocolate - check in and out easy as anything! refreshed happy - to be repeated! This hotel is built virtually 10 feet from a main train line and trains come thundering through all night. The purpose of a hotel is to allow people to sleep well. The insulation does something towards isolation of the noise but it is still disturbing your sleep. Who would build a brand new hotel on a busy train line nuts. The Internet in the room did not work at all other than being able to sign in. It worked OK in the breakfast bar. Very new and nice hotel but just can not sleep. Collapse

We arrived to a very warm welcome and helpful front desk staff. Allocated our room (we had booked 2 nights - separately as at first we thought that we would only be staying for 1 and then changed our minds), the lady sorted this for us so that we could stay in the same room. We had booked a double room with Sofa bed, although not huge it was fine for the 3 of us, there was however no bedding for the sofa bed but a quick phone call sorted this out. I was a little worried to find that we overlooked the station, as I am a really light sleeper, ear plugs were provided in the room however, I didn't use them and I was certainly not disturbed by the trains. We had a lovely breakfast both mornings and on the second evening after getting back quite late, decided to order a couple of their pizzas. I didn't expect them to be that great but needed to eat quick and go to bed as we had to take our son back to Cambridge quite early in the morning for a swimming competition. We were very surprised at how nice they were, certainly not just heated in a microwave, cooked in a proper oven, and bought up to our room with plates, serviettes and cutlery. We thoroughly enjoyed them. Collapse

Having experienced holiday inn express in Swindon which was nice with the exception of a faulty fire alarm we decided to give this hotel in Duxford a try, what a complete let down! My husband and I had the unpleasant experience of staying here on Friday night after a 5 hour drive, we were looking forward to relaxing at the hotel. On arrival we were welcomed warmly and signed up to the rewards scheme which also enabled us to 2 free drinks from the bar, this was a nice touch. We went up to our room and at first we were confident this was a good decision, the bathroom looked smart and clean, the room was tidy albeit a little on the warm side. Having been told at reception that there was wifi available to use throughout the building we tried to get on but to no avail. I called down to reception who advised that whilst they could appreciate this was an inconvenience the wifi was working downstairs so I could just pop down if I wanted or needed to use it. We didn't fancy sitting in an empty bar just so that we could use the internet! On top of having no wifi, there was also no phone signal making us completely unavailable for contact and whilst this can be nice on occasion, we prefer to plan for eventualities such as this. As the hotel itself makes a big thing of having wifi available throughout the building, this I feel was very misleading. The room was fairly warm so we turned the air conditioning on, it didn't make much difference and was very noisy, we couldn't open the window as we were pretty much sleeping on the busy train station platform, that coupled with scratchy bedding made for a very restless uncomfortable night. Breakfast was the usual holiday inn affair, my husband said his cooked breakfast was ok. I chose some toast which was ok once it had been through the toaster twice, the mini muffin however tasted stale and the apple juice tasted really watered down. On check out the woman didn't seem overly bothered that everything was not ok with our stay which is ironic when in the rooms they have a little card saying they want to make your stay a 10/10. Overall a big disappointment, we won't be staying here again 1/10 from us. Collapse
