Me and my husband came to this hotel at the weekend, staff were friendly however the room was dirty with stains on the floor and lamp shade, the bathroom was clean however the room was far too hot and the air con did not work. The breakfast was foul with egg shell in the scrambled egg, cold beans and burnt bacon, the coffee machine was poor and tasted weak it was cheap however I did expect a clean room and a edible breakfast Collapse

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting star city for a night out, Good points: A Bar (unsure if it's 24hr ) £7 for two beers. 10 minute walk away from star city. Staff were friendly and well presented. Large room. Full size iron and ironing board. Usual in room tea and coffee making facilities. Decent shower (which is always a bonus) which included a raised area and hand rails around the toilet and shower so less able bodied guest could use the bathroom. Large window with nets and back out curtains. Breakfast included in the price of the room, which had scrambled egg, bacon, baked beans, toast, croissants and pains au chocolate with some other continental options. In my opinion wasn't brilliant because it wasn't very warm, perhaps could do with investing in some new hot cupboards as they looked a little tired and worn. Also plenty of places to sit as the dining/ bar area was in a huge open bright area. There is a Coffee machine with cappuccino, latte etc, there is also a vending machine which I found wasn't that expensive compared to the prices of other hotels. Bad points The rooms were absolutely boiling, and the in room air con is quite frankly pointless ! We got back to the room around 1am and with the window open for 5-6 hours it made very little difference. There was a huge bright pink stain on the floor near the bed and black fingerprints on the lampshade. Badly sign posted, we drove past the hotel twice as the entrance isnt particularly visible from the road ( although you could argue that how could you miss a giant hotel painted white ?) The window was very awkward to open as the handle was very loose. Overall not a bad hotel, the location is certainly ideal if your visiting star city the price was good value at £59 for two including breakfast compared to what we have paid for travelodge room In the past. I would definitely stay at a holiday Inn again at a different location, just not here, as we were hugely disappointed with star city and probably won't go back Collapse

Stayed at this hotel for the week whilst training for my new job. Bathroom immaculate and bed clean. Although these are really the only plus points for me. Breakfast was cold every morning and not much option on the menu for dinner. Hotel is a two minute away from star city which I recommend for dinner. Also, the maid had been in to clean my room and left the door open as it hadn't latch, so it was open all day until I returned to the hotel at 8pm. Really disappointing. Collapse

I arrived late and was warmly greeted by friendly helpful staff. My room was comfortable and breakfast the following morning was really good - plenty of choice although I came in late. I was able to arrange to leave my car at the hotel during the day and travel into the City on public transport. With easy access to and from the M6, this hotel is well situated. An enjoyable stay. I will certainly use this hotel again when I am back in Birmingham. Collapse

This is a cheap and notso-cheerful place next to Star City and the Genting Casino. I'll not pull any punches; it's grotty and very tired. There are dirty stains and marks all over everything in the rooms from the beds to the floors to the walls. Cobwebs adorn the lights, the air in doesn't work in almost all the rooms (they laughingly put little plug in heaters in each room - awesome in he recent weather). It blatantly obvious the owners/investors have no interest in the upkeep of this hotel to the standards required by the IHG group who really need to do a quality assurance check on the place. Even the fire doors in the stairwells have excessive gaps or are propped open which would mean they would fail in a fire event. I always feel for the staff here admit must be like working in Fawlty Towers. Breakfast is pretty terrible unless you like toast, ingredients are horrendous with plastic sausages and what tastes like powdered scrambled egg. Cheap and but not cheerful as I said though. Collapse
