It's my second time staying at this hotel. Everything is perfect. Clean bed, well maintained facilities. Not to mention the friendly staff. Would definitely come back again. This hotel would be a very good base for venturing Bangkok. It is located in the quiet part of sathorn area, yet within 3 mins walk to BTS. Good neighbourhood with convenience shop, supermarket, nice eateries nearby. Collapse
yes the superior room is bigger (but not necessarily better)

Not the first stay at the Holiday Inn Express Sathorn. The immediate area is quite interesting. The room options are standard rooms or superior rooms. The hotel has a total of 3 superior rooms and decided to book the superior room. And the hotel has zero options for upgrades due to status due to the lack of non standard rooms. And so I concluded the superior room is in fact a bigger room but a bigger room with the exact same amenities as the standard room. The superior room is the better option for more people such as two people. The rooms do not accommodate more than two people. Adjoining rooms are available. In the end I moved from the superior room to the standard room for the layout of the standard room. The superior room has the TV installed high on the wall above the desk and so no options to view the TV from the desk. Sad to say yet one more move was in the future as the mechanical on the roof were located on the same side of the building and the vibrations were a hindrance to sleep. The side with the elevator is the side with the mechanical for reference. A crew has been busy servicing the HVAC units in the commons area today so I suspect management addressed the issues with the mechanical. The hotel is relatively new but not new and the new and nice is somewhat wore off. The breakfast is no longer the spectacular breakfast at the opening. The carpet in the hallways is worn and stained. Overall the individual rooms fared better than the public areas. The HVAC in the room proved to be quiet and effective. The TV and the safe and the refrigerator functioned well. The Internet is fast. The water is hot. The soap dispensers are annoying and should be replaced by bars of soap. The room darkening curtains work very well. The washer and dryer worked. The bed and the lines are comfortable. And the staff are quite accommodating. The staff at the entrance are friendly and work to coordinate parking and taxi and a greeting to the hotel. Collapse

The overall stay experience is simply awesome. It is out of my expectation that the bed are so cozy. The breakfast are perfect for a quick bite before heading to explore the city of Bangkok. The laundry service is just a magnificent idea for all travelers that want to travel light and have enough clothing to wear for the trip. When I asked for a change for the token for the laundry machine, two of the staffs at the front desk are seemingly arguing with each other and do not seem to care for my need. When they finally get to notice that I was there to ask for the laundry, they just rudely tell me of the price and do not seem to want to show me the ways to use the washing machine. The lack of information from the staff has wasted my time in waiting in vague as I thought that the washing machine is running good. After a full 1 hour, when I get back to check for the laundry, it did not move and I have the wait again for another 1 hour and 1 hour more for the dryer. At then, it was around 12 midnight. Collapse

Very impressed by the staff here. From check in to check out and all interactions with the front desk they were all very friendly and professional. The hotel itself is in a location just around the corner from Silom Complex about 20 minutes walk. It is about 3 train stops to Siam station. Siam area is a little more exciting but this area is good too giving more of a local flavour. The BTS station Chong Nongsi is just 10 minutes walk. As other reviewershave said the walkway is a little narrow. Lots of local eats around the area. The room was not bad but could be a bit brighter, however everyday the room was well cleaned and tidied. Drinking water etc well replenished. There is a gym and washing machine in the hotel but i did not use it. Breakfast was not bad. The sitting area was very nice but it would be great if there were more salads. It seemed like salads were only on weekends. The highlight of this hotel were the friendly staff. From the security guy out front, to counter, check in and check out, all were very friendly, very professional giving a very welcoming feeling to guests. Collapse

The lobby (ground level) of the property is very nice and looks like other new, modern Holiday Inn Expresses that I've been to. The state of the rooms, however, was awful. Setting aside the small size of the rooms, the first room I was given had stains on the bed and carpet, gouges in the wall and on the ceiling, dirt/marks/dust on the floor. The carpet in the hall outside was coming up and equally dirty. I went back to the check-in desk, explained the situation, and was quickly given the key cards for a room on another floor. All fine. Maybe it was anomaly. So I went up to the new room, on an different floor... and to my amazement, it was worse than the first one! There were yellow stains right on top of the duvet and then when I peeled pack the duvet there were blood spots. It was crazy. The floors were dirty and had stains. The walls had all sorts of problems (dints, paint peeling, etc.). I literally grabbed my luggage and moved to a different hotel that same day -- which thankfully was much nicer. I had something that evening, was running late, and did not have more time to mess around with the rooms, so I went back to the Holiday Inn the next day to "check out" (I had booked for two nights). I showed the person at reception a bunch of photos on my phone, such as the blood spots, and to her credit, she was very nice and professional, and she was apologetic and genuinely seemed horrified by the state of their rooms. I suggested they do something about the bill, and she said she could refund the second night. I think I should be refunded for the full stay, but it was certainly better than nothing. Collapse
